Looking to get into warhammer fantasy, and I want start a new army... I am kinda leaning towards dwarves but I want to hear what my fellow dakkites have to say.
That being said I am also looking at getting my girlfriend into playing and I know she likes tree people, not sure if there is army with that.

Any suggestions will be most welcome

I agree with Wood Elves.

For you if you like Dwarves, do them! They have a strong core choice and they are reliable. I would be wary of getting bored of their tactics. If you want to play innovative or slightly different, go for units of miners. But in the end it all comes down to what style of play you want to play with.

The Empire has an army list that allows for several styles of play.
