Hi, I'm just interested to find out about your experiences with Wayland Games, an online games/miniatures retailer.
I've just ordered a bunch of stuff from them and it's been about a fortnight - still no package. I've checked my order status, and all it says is 'Awaiting Stock'. What I'm ordering is not rare or hard to get hold of.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal practice for the company? Are they generally good? If you've ordered stuff from them in the past, has it arrived promptly?

Even younger one.

The only time I had ordered from them it was during the busiest season (Christmas) so it took I think exactly 1 month to get to my door. Mind you this is from the UK to Canada so it's quite a distance. In any case, the wait was totally worth it as everything came and was packed very well. The great part for me for ordering from the UK it ends up being about 50% off even with shipping. Woot!
The next time I order something, it will definitely be from there.

I've only used them once, but that came through fine, no problems.
Is what you ordered in stock?

I've ordered from them a couple of times.
And I don't live in the UK.
Two weeks is normal shipping time to the antipodes.
I'll echo Skarwael. Was it listed as "in stock"?
If not, then you're waiting for it to come in and then be despatched to you.

Yes, infact, I ordered my FULL 2250 point army from them, $300 worth of beastmen.
I'm awaiting it, but since I live in the U.S, and they are in the U.K, it will be a while.
However, they say on the shipping details that everything is Guaranteed to be at your door within a month of the day that you order (though they are quite liberal with that I am told)
I was reccomended it by a very good friend over at relicnews, and am quite happy to wait when I got $160 off of GW price ^.^

Yeah, Europe and the UK is currently a barren volcanic wasteland in the grips of a zombie apocalypse (or was that financial apocalypse... I can't remember). That's what I see on the news anyways, so once that's done with it'll be along.
I've ordered from Wayland once. No issues.

I've been in close contact with Wayland games.
I currently have a 300 dollar blood angels order pending (3 weeks overdue) and have done over $2,000 dollars bussiness with waylands up until now.
They are very reliable, and I stand by them.
I have been assured by my sources inside the company that any delays, while frustrating and annoying, are beyond their control.
Royal Post has an extreme backlog due to the volcanic erruption, in fact my sources tell me they recently sent wayland games a large amount of boxes they just didnt bother to ship at all, that wayland games has to repost again.
Royal post is being slowed and giving boxes shipped today priority over the backlog, to give the illusion things are back to normal, despite how insaley backed up they are. This is of course, backing them up even more and freezing even more packages in purgatory.
Wayland Games are normally very fast, dont hold this volcanic mess against them.
I have also been assured by sources inside the company their orders are all guarnteed to reach you, and if any get lost in the chaos of royal mail, after a sufficient waiting period, I am sure they will send out another order or refund you, as you see fit.
So please dont worry! I'm sure they are on their way.
And as I am currently waiting for 7 boxes of Sanguinary Guard, Some Death Company, Dante, the Sangionator, I know how it feels to have a large order in limbo.
But I have faith in the company.

Wayland Games are a well established, long standing company. They are by far the largest independent UK-based retailer that GW deals with, placing orders of £50k/week or so with GW. They also respond to email. Drop them a line. As others have suggested the issue is probably with Royal Mail rather than Wayland, so if Wayland don't hear from you then they can't do anything to put it right as they won't know what's gone wrong!

@Osbad - I haven't emailed, as on the site they ask people not to send 'where's my order?' emails.
@everyone else - Thanks for your input. As stated in the OP, the status of my order is 'Awaiting Stock'. It seems weird that the volcano would affect this - they're only sending it from one place in England, to a nother place in England, then to me!
I live in England.

I suggest emailing them, they will not mind. I personally know the guy whose job it is to read those emails. he's really nice.
It might be they are still waiting for the product from GW. Only way to know for sure is to ask them.

Albatross wrote:It seems weird that the volcano would affect this - they're only sending it from one place in England, to a nother place in England, then to me! As was commented earlier in the thread, the issue is not your order being delayed directly by the volcano, but that the volcano has created such a backlog of mail that sometimes even domestic post is stuck behind it. If, for instance, just before the order Wayland is waiting for arrived at the sorting office, a week's worth of airmail landed for sorting, then Wayland's order could have to wait quite a while before the Royal Mail got to it. The same guys who sort airmail also sort domestic mail. In any case, don't be put off by the "don't email" request if you are worried. They won't mind a polite note after a fortnight. It's the idiotic kids who shout "Where's my order? Where's my order?" after only 24 hours that they are trying to put off. On the other hand, if the order is still marked "stock awaited", then I have confidence that that is the genuine reason, and your goods will come through in due course. Wayland are a reputable business, so your patience will be rewarded in time. Back in the day, it was common for mail order companies to request you to "allow 28 days for delivery" in their adverts! I wonder how the world speeded up so much?

it's not as easy as saying the volcano is at fault. i've ordered twice from them over the past year and both times i've had to wait over 10 days for my order to be shipped (even with everything in my order listed as "in stock" on their site). eventually i got everything (even the primer that took 2 months to arrive) but i did warn a friend who i told about their discounts that they tend to ship much later than their site says. his order was finally shipped a day or two shy of 3 weeks from when he ordered despite it also being completely in stock. would i order from them again? yes. the discount combined with exchange rate for the US dollar is unbeatable. would i order from them if i needed the items in less than a month? absolutely not.

28 days is the legal time limit they have to deliver from the point of order.
@ Albatross: Send 'em a friendly email, maybe then you won't have to send a sterner one in a fortnight. Lack of stock is not a legitimate reason to cross the 28 day limit. A fortnight is just 'a little tardy' in this modern age, nothing to worry about yet.

I use them all the time. They're a little slow at the moment - 2 weeks to ship is common. That sucks but it's good they're busy, right? Bear in mind that they get GW deliveries on Wednesdays. You need to order friday morning to have a chance of your stuff getting delivered to them on the following wednesday. If you ordered on sat, for example, then it would be at least a week and half for your stuff to get to them.

Hi Guys,
Rich here from Wayland.
Shipping delays are a pain. I know if its your order you are waiting to be shipped its no consolation if I post an apology here
It wont stop me explaining.
Just a quick one, the stock levels or indicators on the store are indicative and not real time.. .that all comes with the new fabled website which will launch soon (when all testing is finished).
If an item is out of stock and say for example its a GW item then the wait for the item to be back in stock can be upto 13 days worst case. The limit to ordering once a week for the previous weeks restocks is the factor here.
As anyone that has visited our warehouse will vouch we have alot of stock, 5000 sqft approaching £200k in value however we stock nearly 7000 lines and sometimes we estimate stock levels wrongly... and the constant growth means we can always be playing catch up.
Oh then then you have bank holidays in the UK that always throw a spanner in the works. As deliveries that would normally arrive on a Friday arrive on the Tuesday afterwards. All great fun to juggles All our GW orders arrive by Freight too which is always fun.
We ship over 60% of orders same day. We work very hard at small margins to get you your stuff asap. We have the best customer service. I would say that obviously.
Regarding the helpdesk asking not to ask about awaiting stock orders.. I understand the frustration, we are not trying to prevent you asking for help in anyway, its just that the explanation you receive from a hand written reply will be the same as the automated one. And in the same time it takes to write a reply half an order can be processed.
Happy to answer any questions on here, but please use the helpdesk at http://support.waylandgames.co.uk for any specific order related questions. As there are people paid to help you there.

I don't know why you guys are defending a company that list items as in stock when really they have no idea if they have them, I live in the UK so thought I would order from them to get a item in time for a tournament a week later, plenty of time for a "in stock" item, but I was faced with the awaiting stock delivery message, won't use them again unless they get real time order listings! I don't care how nice there customer service rep is ha.

Not entirely sure why you are posting on a thread that's over 4 years old when there are a couple of more recent ones active but there you go.
happy to chat about your experience and how we can improve though. Fell free to PM me and I'll sort out some direct communication rather than disturbing the cobwebs on this particular thread any further.
