14 points to increase the attacks by 50% on one model? Slann gets no penalty for refusing challenges... So... Help me out here, is there no point?

It's not normally worthwhile in my opinion, but it is quite nice to give him a magic item, and most people don't expect it.

Chaos Lords... If you play against choppy chaos lords or any really choppy lord you just challenge and watch as his attacks get wasted in overkill

Charging Wild Rider

It's also worth it to tie to tie the Bloodthirster up on the turn it charges, so that it doesn't get to start smashing up the unit until your turn at which point you can get you buffs/debuffs off.

I'm gonna field one. Give him the poison attack upgrade. It makes it a little better cause I have Lore of Life. I can regenerate him.

He can accept an undesirable challange for a Scarvet if you have one in there.
There is also the potential for an Underdog bonus. He can take out most Wizards pretty handily. Charge your unit into a lone wizard/some situation where he can't refuse and get an extra 50 points
