The simple answer is to field an army against them.

If you want a longer answer then anything that would cause a panic test would work... they tend to have very low leadership.

ok, have a book now so i'll edit this post:

Basically all of your troops are significantly better than his 1 for 1... and on the bright side yours are also cheaper than his. Hellcannons would dice him, marauders with anything that gives them a strength boost will dice him. His only advantage is that he has (crappy) shooters that he can get in bulk... and also REALLY expensive monsters that would die to marauders before they even get to swing anyway (I use the term 'advantage' loosely here).

What does he generally bring? at the 1k point value I would probably load up on marauders with a couple other nasty things thrown in, but I guess if he has a huge number of light skirmisher units you would need something a bit faster.

Don't underestimate them, Gor only need a couple of Augments to beat even Chaos Warriors in a straight fight. And Beasts absolutely excel at throwing multiple, cheap augments.

In terms of what might be threatening:

- Look for his BSB. If its in a large unit of Gor, chances are that he has taken the 'Beast Banner' meaning he has S4 infantry. While expensive at 1000pts, this is an extremely potent unit.
- If he has multiple wizards gathered near a special terrain piece, it will be the 'Herdstone Shard'. This means he is planning to bombard you with lots of cheap spells, so you need to make sure you save some dice for the important dispels.
- Don't engage Bestigor with anything armoured, unless you can cripple the unit in one swing. They hit back, hard, and excel at munching through expensive Chaos plate.

Generally, expect to see lots of infantry supported by augmentive and hex-based magic. His infantry are deceptively powerful and will take you in a straight fight if you don't stop their magic. Also, the lack of Ld is a complete lie. We have Ld just as high as everybody else, the only issue is that we take Ld tests to get the most out of our infantry. Inflicting morale checks isn't any better against us than any other army, but if you can sap our Ld (Doom Totem, Doom and Darkness) then he won't be getting his combat rerolls.

However, in the same way don't be afraid to fight Minotaurs or anything which hasn't been buffed. Without proper magical support the Beasts are not terriby efficient and will rarely have the ranks for steadfast.

When I play beastmen with either my deamons, or tomb kings, even elves to a lesser extent, but sole goal is to take out his leadership, then his mages in that order. Watch out for the crown of command on a unit too, but not likey until points get higher. If you drop the bsb, those primal fury test start failing much more often, and if you cause fear too, and he wifs both, it's usually a done deal.

You should try to take a shadow wizard if you can. his guys will really struggle if anything debuffs their stats, since their equipment isn't so great.
