So inspired by the nice little Bretonnian 8th ed thread, what about one for a race that i love, and by all accounts might be about to reappear in the new Empire!

Halflings, from memory, were:

4 2 4 2 2 5 1 8, they were armed with Bows, and had the Skirmisher Rule, and could pass through forests easily. Past editions gave them the Fighting Cocks, and the Hot Pot, Militia Men (Spearmen with same stats).

What would you like to see....

Well to get this ball rolling:

What about the introduction of war pigs?

Or, Geese Bombers?

Or, Combined Harvester of Souls?

All appeared pretty much in Citadel Journal 36.

Tons of food and food related things. The Warhammer Siege books tells of a halfling chef who dumps a bucket of boiling ox tail soup over the castle wall to kill orcs.

That sounds pretty good. Could be an addendum to the Badlands campaign book. 60pts Halfling Chef on your walls: D1 - He Eats the Soup 2-5 Soup Falls on enemies at S2 -3AS, D6 he put in extra chili...S3 -3AS

The non GW halfling books has halfling type virtues such as the Honey Comb (+1S and Frenzy I think).

My friend has an OOP model of a halfling hot pot catapult. Pretty cool model if you ask me.

I believe that I read in the Empire rumor thread that halflings were indeed making a comeback in the next Empire army book.

Run them as Gnoblars.
WS2 BS3 S2 T3 Init3 A1 W1 Ld5.
Special rules is nobody cares.
Hot pot counts as a unit filler with the trapper upgrade.

The idea that halflings were anything but throw away garbage infantry was a mistake.

You mean...aside from the fact that they were actually lethal archers with BS4? And, with a huge leadership of 9 for leaders, and a magic resistance equal to dwarfs? Unit Champions...BS5?

The halfling hot pot is actually fairly deadly. Buring hot soup S3/6 (from memory) -3 AS.

Yes exactly. I'm not saying that those weren't the rules, I'm saying those rules were stupid.
Midgets don't make for great archers.
Crossbows sure, but bows?

are we talking about a halfling army book, or a all halfling list from the empire army book, and isn't the hot pot now in production? you can buy it on GWs site!

Well...what I was thinking originally was re-introducing Halflings into the Empire through a hero, special and rare choice or two.

Halfling Elector Count (V high Ld as everyone is well fed).

Halfling Militia (spear - bowmen 0-2 units)

Halfling Hot Pot (Rare)

Halfling Swan Raiders (Drop hot soup on enemy's from on high).

Something like that anyway.

I would make them have Cows but called
Cowes, they would have Hay Carts that can hide units inside almost like an assassin in a unit, basically you attack the cart and then 20 Halfling Millitia start attacking you, ect

The Cowes would be slow Cavalry MV 6 or 7 but grant them Toughness 3 rather than the infantries 2. The army should focus on horrible stats but lots of heart but not go to hordey so they need lots of abilities to circumvent their weakness's

BAck in the day one of the Journals had Treemen as a Fling ally. They sated that the Treemen like the the liitle guys because they would sit and listen to their long stories. Also the Treemen would help protect the Flings villages from big mean nasties!!! Check the Blood Bowl background a bit on the relationship. What about the fling thief rule from Mordenheim? Also the flings had packs of War dogs at their disposal.Which makes sense they need to do something with their left overs..Just like real dogs...Hmmm people food....

Is that citadel journal 34? Yes...a great read. And I agree allowing a halfling and treeman unit (why didn't i htink of this unit filler before!) would be really cool.

Mordheim halflings are good...so are war pigs or dog!
