Hello everyone,

I'm going to try out a blog for creating an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor. I've created one already (shown below) and I loved kit bashing everything together so much I have to do it again.

Spoiler:

The Bits
Here is going to be my starting point. I would like to thank window-box at Black Dagger Games http://stores.ebay.com/blackdaggergames for all the bits.
Spoiler:

Torso and Legs: I love the Gothic feel of the Dark Angels so Knight Terminators are a perfect starting point of this kit bash.
Long Range Weapon: I'm going to cut off most of the under slung aspect of the Assault Cannon but keep the grip and eagle. After that I plan on splicing in a Psycannon in place of the Assault Cannon. Similar to http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/469590-converted%20psycannon.html?m=2
Melee Weapon: I know that the Ordo Malleus is suppose to have either a sword or hammer but I think that this mace looks too cool to leave out.
Fluff: I would love the have a cloak on this guy but I'm thinking that hanging banners from his back might work, but I'm not to sure so we'll wait and see.

I'm still thinking about color. Probably need to test out some color schemes for the armor. I'm thinking basing him in Korn Red then glazing Rinox hide into the shadows. then some dry brushing into some bright red edging. With the front cloth, maybe painting bleached bone then washing 50/50 water and leviathan purple, for the trim some gold. If anyone has an idea for a color scheme let me know.

So this is where I'm at so far. The parts are on there way and I can't wait to start.

Second update on the Inquisitor.

I took an inquisitorial symbol from a Space Marine Deathwatch shoulder pad. then spliced it into a terminator shoulder pad after I removed the Crux Terminus.
Spoiler:

I took the assault cannon and removed the cannon part then spliced in a Psycannon from a Strike Squad. On the butt end I threw on a Storm Bolter. I need to sand and smooth down the jointing but after that it should be looking good.
Spoiler:

Here is the Mace with the new Shoulder Pad. I took a Book from a Paladin removed the stand and added it to the shoulder pad instead of the livery shield.
Spoiler:

I've added an open book to the top of the terminator armor, I'll add some chains form a craft store to brace down the book.
Spoiler:

Here is what I have finished so far.
Spoiler:

And the arms are magnetized to make painting easier.

Looking good so far, maybe just scrape the GS down a little on the psycannon arm so the two parts look more flush together/smooth. Other than that it just needs a paint job i think looking forward to seeing the finished product

So I have a small conundrum I would like to have some sort of standard over this inquisitor similar to my first Inquisitor first post first picture, but I don't want to use the same setup. So I'm reaching out to the community on some ideas. Please any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Spoiler:

Been a while since I've posted, 12 hour days at work limit how long and what I can work on, then add in a toddler to the mix = no way I can model or paint anything while she's awake.

Anyway, here is the Psycannon right arm Kit-bash. I didn't do much other then sand down the GS for primer and paint. I'm not sure If I'm done with this arm yet. I bought some jewlers chain at a craft store and it might get some use to chain the hand grip at the eagle to the shoulder pad.

Pyscannon looks much better try using the standard/shrine from the top of the space marine librarian, although if you own any of the dark angels bits i imagine it wouldnt be to hard to kitbash some parts together

Looks awesome man, I agree with Young_Logan about the Librarian standard, it'd look cool.
For future reference though, normal Space Marine Terminators come with a Deathwatch pauldron for TDA, just to save you the effort of carving up two pads.

I know about the Deathwatch pauldron but I didn't find one online at a decent price. Plus I've already done that with the Inquisitor at the top, I'm trying to keep them as different as possible.

So this is going to be slightly off topic.

I stopped by and watched a game some friends were playing, when I notice a bunch of unpainted Dark Vengeance Terminators sitting in a box. I offer to paint one for my friend so I can test out the color scheme for my Inquisitor. He said yes' So here it is.

I hate all the fethers so they had to go. I also shaved and sanded all the DA bling off this guy.

I'm going to try a red color scheme for the armor, purple for the robes, white washed with brown for the ropes and gold for the head and trim.

Fingers Crossed this doesn't come out a Hot Mess.

Well, I don't like the color scheme I picked out for my Inquisitor. Looks too much like Blood Angels.
Spoiler:

I'm going to take this to completion, maybe it'll look better after all the trim bits are filled in.

So here is the failed test color scheme. Still need to paint and flock the base but that's only going to take a few minutes
Spoiler:

All in all I don't think it will fit an inquisitor, too Blood Angels looking. So my friend is getting a free painted and based non denominational terminator.
Bully for him.

So my friend, lets call him Gareth, liked my paint job, so he's going to let me continue testing out color schemes for the Inquisitor. By the time I'm done Gareth should have a Motley Crew of terminators, which so happens is what the group is going to be named.

And here they are!!!
Spoiler:

I'm going to try a variety of painting techniques and color schemes and see which I like best.

So I finally figured out what the standard on the top of the Inquisitor is going to be. I purchased some Fantasy Warhammer, Empire Flagellant bits particularly some of the books. I figured I could use the book strapped to a board as the standard.

I bought some cheap Jewelers chain from A.C. Moore and strapped down the book on the Inquisitors back and added a couple skulls attached to chains from the Standard. I think this came out better then expected.

I'm still need to figure out the color scheme but that will come in time.

Spoiler:

Hope you like it.

Now that I have the Inquisitor all modeled out I have to get back to the color scheme. I finished putting on the green for one of these terminators but I don't know if I'm going to use it. maybe if I get some gloss varnish it will come out a little brighter, right now it feels kind of dull. I like the white terminator and how much the gold and red pop out on him, but the purple doesn't seem to work very well.
Spoiler:

Any suggestions.

So for a color scheme I believe that I'm going wIh a white base dark red cloth gold trim and dark brown for most every thing else. I'm going to use the far left terminator as the test for the inquisitor.
Spoiler:

On the third try I finally found technique to do a base coat that shows enough shadow and still looks white without being terribly chalky.

It's been a while, work and family have kept me from painting, modeling or even blogging. I had to wait for a sleepless night to get some stuff done. The sleepless night is thanks to my little girl. (she's so cute I can't be mad at her) Anyway, I have figured out how I'm going to paint my Inquisitor. It's going to be white with a deep red tabard gold trim and a golden mace. It took a few tries to figure out how to paint the white but I love the end result. The red will be darker then whats in the test case below which will make the gold stand out even more.
Spoiler:

If your wondering how I did the white, its started with a purplish grey, then a heavy semi dry brush of light grey, to a light dry brush of pure white. Then some watered down white for the edging highlights.
Let me know what you think.

My wife gave me a nice Fathers day gift. She let me do whatever I wanted for an entire day. I dedicated a large amount of time to my Inquisitor. I only took pictures about half way threw the process so that's what I'm showing.

Spoiler:

I've finished painting the Inquisitor. Threw on a wash and then added some white highlights, he didn't come out as I hoped but It'll work. I'm currently working on his base.

And the Inquisitor is done, My daughter woke me up earlier than expected, five AM. She climbed into our bed and I couldn't fall back asleep. So I finished painting the bases and my last two servo skulls.
Hope you like them.

Spoiler:

So now I'm going to start painting a new Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor. He's going to have a Null Rod and Plasma Pistol. I'm going to try to free hand some stuff into his robe.

Spoiler:

That's for reading.

No pictures today, hopefully I'll get some up soon. Work has been crazy but we are finally winding down so I might be able to spend more time to the MINI's.

I've started on a Grey Knights Grand Master. He's going to get all the goodies, interchangeable heavy weapons, choice for either a halberd or sword, and a CSM Terminator lords cloak with an Iron Halo made form a Nemesis Warding Staff spanning the exhaust ports. The cloak came out really nice. He's also going to have a hooded head from a Dark Angels Knight Terminator.

Pics up soon. So far he's my best paint job yet. Fingers Crossed.

Passing thought, If the Quality of this Grand master is good enough it might end up on Ebay for some extra money to sustain my habit. Who am I kidding I'll probably keep him.

Thanks for reading

Here are some pics to update my previous post, though it's mostly from the GK Terminator I'm still cutting and shaping from other places, I went a little farther magnetizing bits and peaces.

You can see here I made a small modification to the halberd. Also a skull that will be painted gold on the top of the crest.
Spoiler:

I have all three heavy weapons set to be interchangeable with magnets. I still have to paint them.
Spoiler:

Here is the arm without the Heavy Weapons
Spoiler:

Here is the Cloak, I still have to paint the Iron halo.
Spoiler:

And this is the under side to the cloak.

I've found that with this hobby I can concentrate 100% and put everything else out. It's like Zen. When I put the paints away the stress is gone the my life is back and I can sleep the night through without having lockjaw in the morning. I can only work on my mini's once (if I'm lucky) or twice (if I'm very lucky) a week for about 1 or 2 hours a stretch. Usually when I have a super stressful day at work and need to get my mind off it.

So you guessed it, had a stressful day and needed to unwind.

On to the GK Grand Master, I only need a few more hour's *fingers crossed* and this guy will finally be finished. Unfortunately if I want to make him as kitted out as he can possible get I'll need to cut and green stuff a new left arm so he can use a Storm Bolter too.

When I'm done he should be able to switch between a sword or halberd (still need to get a hammer) for melee and psy-cannon psy-lancer or incinerator for shooting.

I based all the gold on the torso and legs then added two washes of Nun Oil to darken up the crevices. Next is to add the highlights to the gold and add do the parchment and purity seals. I finished the metals on the long range weapons, all that's left for them is the red highlights.
Spoiler:

On the bright side when I get home from work my wife is heading out with her friend and my little one is going to be going down for her nap so this guy might get finished. YAY!!!

Woke up early this morning so I decided to get some painting in before work.

Here is where I'm at.

Now down to the detail work. Painting the tubing and adding highlights. I can't forget to paint the shoulder emblem either.

Spoiler:

I still have a few things to do here. Have to highlight the daemon skulls horns and add some highlights to the skull itself and paint the skull in the book silver.
Spoiler:

I only have a few more small things to finish then it's gluing him onto his base. Which is already finished.

So I've finished my grand master.
Spoiler:

One of the problems with the Grey Knights is that there is one psycannon per GK terminator box. I took one of the extra psycannons from the strike squad and spliced it's front and clip onto a terminator psylancer. It came out better then expected.

I like the way the Furioso Dreadnought looks so I'm converting it to be a tall GK Dreadnought with autocannons.

Put in a GK head and hearldry.

Chopping apart the legs to lengthen them.

No doing much to the back except for some banners.
