Hi all,

I'm a big 40k player and I've had about 3 games total of fantasy - 2 with the Dark Elves and 1 with the previous High Elf book. I bought a bunch of models for a hobby project (gonna paint up the army to be the Silvermoon Guard and Quel'Thalas Navy from Warcraft III) but have decided I also wanna get some games in whilst I wait for the Eldar to update.

Looking for some C&C, and I will add what models I have left over at the bottom.

Lords
Loremaster of Hoeth
Sword of Might, Talisman of Preservation, Enchanted Shield

Heroes
Lothern Sea Helm
Talisman of Endurance, Charmed Shield, Bow, BSB

Handmaiden
Reaver Bow, Potion of Strength

Core
20 Lothern Sea Guard
Shield, Full Command

5 Ellyrian Reavers
Bows

5 Ellyrian Reavers
Bows

Special
Lothern Sky Cutter
Eagle Eye Bolt Thrower

Lothern Sky Cutter
Eagle Eye Bolt Thrower

Rare
14 Sisters of Avelorn
High Sister

The idea is that the Handmaiden goes with the sisters and takes down anything scary or that has regen. The Loremaster and Sea Helm bunker into the sea guard and shoot/magic anything that comes near. Sky cutters and reavers chip away at stuff, and the sky cutters are fast enough to do some nasty things to the opponents shooty elements.

Other models I have:
Alarielle the Everqueen
Lother Sea Helm CC version
2x Combat Characters on Griffons (IoB set)
3 Foot mages
1 Horse mage
20 more Sea Guard including command
32 Archers (2x command)
20 Sword Masters (2x command)
16 more sisters (1 more high sister)
2 Bolt Throwers

So far the effectiveness of 10 Wraithblades with Ghost Axes:
Tanked 2 Leman Russ squadrons (including the battle cannons and the triple plasma variant); whilst also getting wailed on by everything imaginable in a Fortress of Redemption. Only to get into CC with the tanks and open them up.
2000 points worth of Necrons with Forgeworld additions. Got into CC with a court of Lords and opened them up.
Killed a GUO.
Killed Angrath the Gargantuan Bloodthirster in an Apoc game (with the help of Iranna the Spirit Seer).
Ate a Hammerhead, pathfinders and scored after 3 turns of walking towards a 2000 point Tau gunline and overwatch!
And counting............

1500 is really tight in fantasy compared to 40k. Here's my advice:

Shield of the Merwyrm is 35 points less than the Talisman and shield you have for almost the same job. Use those points to get him a dispell scroll it is a mandatory item in every list due to how powerful magic is.

Hand maiden is perfect Sea Helm is ok.

20 Sea Guard are just really expensive archers. The reason you take Sea Guard is to be a bit of a combat unit that also shoots. To fulfill that role you need more guys. At least 28 deployed 7 wide. Preferably 40-50 but at this point level that's not really viable.

Your whole army is based on shooting but you don't have enough fire power to stop the enemy. So you need to have a combat unit in there somewhere. My advice is drop a unit of Reavers to bulk the Seaguard.

Then Id drop the bolt throwers from the chariots as they are mostly hitting on 5s. Use them to charge block, redirect and kill chaff.

This gets you enough points for 4 more sisters. Then split the sisters units into 2 units of 9 deployed 3x3. The small footprint makes them difficult to catch. Run the maiden separate so against a Hellpit the sisters can light him up and she can hit him with S8 shots once the regen is gone.

Thanks for the advice. Reading through the eagle eye thrower, it doesn't suffer the -1 from moving and shooting. So only long range and/or cover affect it

Think im getting it slight mixed up... it can at least move and shoot, I think (due to noobiness) assumed it was immune to the neg as well in the bolt throwers profile (Lothern forces page).

My first opponent will be beastmen. A mate of mine who I go up against a lot in 40k (my eldar vs his demons/CSM). Not sure what to expect, except that he said I would be versus 79ish bodies.

If he's got lots of bodies it is even less nessecary to have the bolt thrower.

Likewise you'll need bodies in that Sea guard unit. He will also get re rolls to hit against you. So you need to do maximum damage and be able to take some.

All the other suggestions still hold.
