When GW updates armies, do they generally redo miniatures or do they create miniatures for the models that do not exist in the codex?

I can't remember them changing very many minis, seems like they create models for the ones that are listed in codex that don't already have a model.

I am specifically wondering about IG and Nids if they ever come out. Seems like most if not all of IG minis are already completed. Maybe some new Primarius Psykers cause the mini for them sucks. However, Nids need the The Parasite of Mortrex and the Tyranid Prime for starters.

Well nids should be getting a 6th update at some point. As for the IG models, New ogryn and Karskins models in plastic or resin. They new a artillery box, one that lets you make either a Bessi or a griffin or a Medusa or a colossus.

They usually do a little bit of both depending on the status of the range.

If an existing model is old and outdated, they tend to remake it for the new edition, or at least some of them. (For daemons, they remade herald models, due to them knowing they would be more prevalent in the new book, as an example)

They also tend to add at least one new unit, so helldrakes and mauler/forgefiends for chaos, flyers and the new landspeeders for DA, and flyers and the riptide for tau.

They will be adding new units, and usually remake/ update some old ones. Usually replacing metal or resin kits with multi part plastics which make 2 different units (replecing metal Chaos Raptors with the plastic Raptor/ War Talon kit for example)

More recently, few models have been remade, even those in very real need of it.

Previously, with very few codexes a year, monthly model waves would introduce resculpts and units which weren't available when the codex came out, either lacking a model, or introduced later in White Dwarfs.

Currently, with monthly army updates, there are no model waves, and each codex has had all its models available at release. There's a real push for new, whether that be entirely new units, or ones which never got a proper model in the previous iterations (like pathfinders and broadsides, which were conversions-only).

With this in mind, I wouldn't expect recasts of older 'nid and Guard models, as much as I would like the guard ones (Nid line is pretty solid, however, much more modern than Guard). However, those units lacking models, such the Guard Hydra and 'Nid Harpy and Mycetic Spore stand good odds of seeing model releases, as do the few remaining Guard metal models (GW is moving hard away from metal, whether the replacements are wholly new plastic kits or the same model just done in resin is harder to say).

In fact, there have been some rumours to exactly that extent; plastic Hydra with two weapon options (current autocannon, or lascannon option), plastic kit for stormtroopers/veterans and the multikit for the current Tyranid flier and some new variant, supposed anti-flier in role.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
