New Year = New Blog. Sorta.
I ended 2014 having a grand total of one fully painted and based Infinity figure. One. This will not do.
I have been challenged to have at least 100 fully painted and based Infinity models by the end of 2015. One hundred. It's like, about a hundred times more than I have right now. Don't check my math.

Having a handful (7) of models that already have varying amounts of paint on them already, I thought I was getting a bit of a head start, but the challenge got amended to include painting some terrain pieces, "at least enough to make up for those 1/2ers" was the rule. So meh. So much for shortcuts. ¡Ándele! (trying to learn Spanish this year too via Duolingo)

Sir, reporting for duty, sir!

I am here to provide ample critic, support and possible motivation for such an epic endeavor. Cheerleading if you will, minus the part where I'm a sexy girl. Sorry bro.

I'm always interested in seeing more painted Infinity miniatures. Currently I promissed myself not to buy more miniatures until I paint a lot of my current ones (almost all of them 40k), so I pretty much live from you guys, the heroes painting Infinity models.

Help me aswell, show me Infinity goodness! Good luck!

And thank you sir!

The first order of business for me is to get some models presentable to play for the first time this coming Monday. I have only played a demo-game so far, and watched a couple other games between a couple friendly fellows who were very nice to answer a bunch of questions while they played. One of these nice gents told me to show up with a 150 point list or two for a couple smaller scale games to learn a bit easier. So I made the following:

JURISDICTIONAL COMMAND OF BAKUNIN
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

GROUP 1 7 0 0

MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9)
MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9)
MODERATOR Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 9)
RIOT GRRL Combi Rifle, Blitzen, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (31)
RIOT GRRL Boarding Shotgun, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (29)
RIOT GRRL Boarding Shotgun, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (29)
SIN-EATER HMG / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 34)

2.5 SWC | 150 Points

Open with Army 4

JURISDICTIONAL COMMAND OF BAKUNIN
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

GROUP 1 3 5 5

MODERATOR Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 9)
SIN-EATER Mk12 / Pistol, CCW. (29)
SIN-EATER MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 39)
MORLOCK Combi Rifle+ Light Smoke Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Shock CCW. (1 | 16)
MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Assault Pistol, AP CCW. (10)
MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (7)
MORLOCK Boarding Shotgun, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (16)
CHIMERA Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Zero-V Smoke Grenades / Viral CCW. (24)
3x PUPNIK DA CCW.

3 SWC | 150 Points

Open with Army 4

So no clue if these are good or bad. If something is missing or no good (like the obvious Lt. in the 2nd list?) it really doesn't matter, it will be fun to learn my lesson through playing anyways!

I made the first using mostly just models I actually have in Stage 3 or higher, only having to proxy 1.5 I think (using a MSR Sin-Eater for the HMG version, and one of the Moderators will be a guy missing his arms!). For the second list though, these models are mostly in Stage 2, so they will be my first effort and I've made a similar statement in the pledging thread. I've done quite a bit of trimming/sanding on the Morlocks already so that helps, the Chimera and Pupniks are pretty fresh out of the box though unfortunately, still with flash and sprues attached.
Here is a crappy iPad pic of the box 'o silver in question:
Spoiler:

I will need to get creative with at least 4 of the bases here too. I've got a few Micro Studio Arts resin bases around here, some sort of trashy urban street motif going on, so those will likely go nicely with the back story of the Uberfall Kommandos. And by that I mean the being riot police or undercover agents, and not the 'created specifically for sex' part!

So for the 'locks we will need to do something. I'm deciding between a more simple urban rubble theme, or maybe trying some Industrial or warehouse type bases. I got a pack of unopened diamond plate plasticard around here somewhere I could use. Maybe I will try that.

Thanks again for comments guys, I will post an update when completed, with a couple pics of at least the created bases and if I finish before Monday I may try and finish off the half-painted Moderator I have been not working on for a month.

See? Progress already! Another well detailed post of magical Infinity adventure! Go you!

Ahhh, Überfallkommandos ... I was this close to buy the box just for the pleasure of painting them (the Chimera is gorgeous), I didn't even know their backstory. I do now and the pupniks one is pretty dark. D:

The bases with the diamond plate plasticard look mighty good, already saw some of them and look perfect for that gritty warehouse / walkway / factory look.

The last great hurrah
Your Inbox is full. You have room for; <zero>, new projects.

Today I received a giant box of happy!
Spoiler:

The HEAVY labels on the box are no joke. This puppy weighed in at a hefty 21.25kg! So I have pretty much everything (save a single blister) I have ever ordered now in front of me, and the only thing left to do is decide on which corner of the room I would like to see these things collect dust in. Ha! I hope I am just kidding.

With this box came all the Spartan Scenics terrain I had ordered. I know a few people have discussed it in the Infinity: Terrain thread and a couple asked to see some pictures. I have to get to work pretty quick here, but when I get home I will bust it all out and post a few pics. I will definitely set out all the scatter terrain pieces at least (probably the coolest parts anyways), and if I have the time I might put together some of the HDF pieces to check out how the whole modular business works out.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok trying to get close up pictures with an iPad2 just ain't gonna work. I looked online to see just how bad it really is and it is .92 megapixels. Yikes! It doesn't help that the lighting on my dining table is terrible for pictures either. So no good pics tonight. I put my Canon's battery into the charger, and it should be good to go tomorrow during the sunlight hours for some nice pics. Here's a couple of the iPad pics to at least show what I'll hopefully have time to showcase tomorrow:

Proof of Life
The "I really am working on stuff I swear!" post

Ok so the end of July is now here and things are going much more slowly than I anticipated. And I was expecting things to be slow already, so this update will be a double dose of disappointment.

Painting:
I got 1/2 a mini done for the entire month. That's right, a whole half. I like to set the bar low! So here's a couple pics of my .5 and only Infinity model with any paint on it so far. I am a complete newbie to photography as well, and getting these pics was interesting to say the least. So, a couple of WIP shots:

Firstly, wow at how much detail you can capture. Secondly, "Oh crap" at how much detail you can capture! What looks like a pretty decent job in my hand and to the naked eye can really look a bit shoddy with a camera. And on top of magnifying all the blemishes it seems to really fade out all the blends! Double whammy. I swear in real life you can see some much more pronounced blended shading going on. I hope a little more experience with the photo editor increases the quality of future pics. I'm sure painting practice will help that too. I definitely have come away with even more admiration for the painters on Dakka and other sites who make these tiny little things look so clean and pretty even under macro photography. Kudos to you!

In other news

Most of my time since receiving it has been working on assembling the Spartan Scenics HDF terrain I got. I thought I was going to have it all finished in a day or two when I started in on it. Ha, a rude awakening was in store for me. This was not the 'snap-it-all-together-like-wooden-LEGOs' I assumed it would be. There was (is still) much sanding to be done, and sometimes some filing when the occasional board seems to be a bit thicker than it should. Also a few of the pieces (mostly Cross and 'T' Junctions) need to be glued which I wasn't expecting. Gluing is very time consuming, at least with the PVA I am using. I am debating picking up some 5min epoxy to speed things along. In any case, I have quite a bit of this Spartan Scenics line and think by the time I am finished I will have enough to make an entire 4x4 table that is almost exclusively the interior of some sort of complex. I think it will look and play quite interestingly, adding a little extra RP flair when playing with YAMS. Hopefully I can get it all put together and show off some pictures soon.

Uuff, so much stuff to comment about!

First, any effort to paint your miniatures is to be praised. Not many have the courage to pick up the brush, so those that do are already special. Next, you didn't go for a simple scheme. That lady looks fantastic, I like the choice of colors a lot but I have to ask, is she being painted as some kind of undead? She's, well, green!

Keep it up, soon it will be stag 6 worthy! Unicorns, YAY!

And remember, cameras are not like human eyes don't be dishearted, the human eye can't make a distinction between the different layers as a camera so I'm sure it looks much better live. Ofc, pros are so awesome even cameras can't handle them

And finally: HOLY GOD-EMPRAH! THAT'S A LOT OF TERRAIN!

It's understandable you are not painting, that's a ton of work!!

Keep up it up!

(Oh, and I spot a nice collection of board games )

P.s: sorry for any big typos, using the iPad and I'm still crap typing here despite having this thing for over 2 years!

Ugh, that would give me so much anxiety. Bloody hell, having 15 unpainted models in front of me bums me out haha, I could never do that.

For Gluing I recommend Lepage Contact Cement, Brush it on both sides wait 10min then press together for a nice instant bond.

I even broke one of the door frames while trying to put it together as its such a tight fit but the contact cement glued it back together.

You can find it in a 30ml squeeze bottle or 250ml tin with brush.

Inspiration/Instructions:

It's for my brother, who is a big fan of red(s). Should be a common element with most of the PanO I paint for him.

Fantastic work. Your painting has improved remarkably.

How did you find the Secret Weapon washes compared to others?

Hey ckig. I see by looking through your work we have some similarities in our Plogs, and also some differences, like you actually painting your figures haha. I'm keeping an eye out for your plog updates and hope to keep up with you! Best of luck to us, cheers.

Hello, and thank you for the compliment sir. As far as comparing washes I do not think I am at that level yet. I have all the Secret Weapon ones, a Sepia from VJ, and 3 or 4 GW ones only, and I do not see any difference between them so far.

Thank you for your honesty. My only experience with washes are GW's from 10 years ago and was wondering if you were able to make a comparison for me

I see Nomads, I see PanO, and I like it all! Really cool stuff here, especially the shiny red PanO. While I'm not a huge fan of the pose, that female Fusilier is one of the nicest in the set from a sculpting/detail standpoint, I think.

Subbed!

Fusilier looks great! Nice shading with the washes. I rarely use them but I really should try it out more.
