Hello all, london1662 (Alan, AL) here, i would like to show you guy's some of the projects i've been working on over the last year or so? I've only been back in the hobby in the last year and half, i took a big break from it all!..............like you do! my main interest has always been Post Apocalyptic/Death Race style vehicles with some Zombies thrown in for good measure.........so lets crack on.....
first up are some WIP of a PA Ford Mustang 1/16th scale ex RC car

and now painted!...............very rusty!

cheers

Now it's time for one of my favorite builds, mainly because it all came together at the end!, after a lot of changes all very time consuming i got to a point were i thought it would not get finished, size wise it's nearly 5 feet long! 1/14th scale again another ex RC model..........
it's based on the truck from Death race 'The Dreadnought' i call this one the 'war wagon' the turret is 1/16th M1 ABRAMS in the movie they built a scaled down M1 turret i went for the full size version.....
the first pic you can see the size? next to me!

fantastic stuff, very Carmageddon. Maybe make an Eagle? (http://www.carmageddon.com/blog/nobby%E2%80%99s-concept-album-v-eagle-eyes)

I love the cars that are festooned with spikes, are those plastruct girders? I was planning something similar one day.

My only criticism would be that I think you could vary the colours slightly on each model. I love the palettes and the rust effects but a few mis-matched panels or variations in rust would go a long way. Or maybe some chipped off markings.

Bruticus cheers mate for your comments, i will be taking them all on board believe me as i said i'm only getting back into the modelling hobby in the last year or so and i'm learning all the time!
all the plastic sheet/tubes etc are EVERGREEN i find there a lot cheaper then PLASTRUCT ...............but i will be using Plastruct diamond plate soon as evergreen don't do that yet.

These are amazing

You would fit right in with orky conversions

If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!

Yeah that's why I dislike 28mm. 54mm or whatever inquisitor scale was would be good for a medium sized warhammer game. Easier to paint as well

54mm is a good 'old' school scale! sorry! i originally started wargaming and modelling back in the mid 70's! 25mm for wargaming! 54mm for figure modelling, oh! those where the days lol
i'm thinking of doing a few minis in 54mm (maybe not so mini?) i think you could do a good 'jugger' team (film salute of the jugger) and some post apocalyptic figures?

RAMSHACKLE GAMES 'RHEBOK APC'

to put it simply! i love this model! this is without doubt one of the best Curtis as done, i will be building a lot more.............once the store is back open! .................now please knock up a main battle tank to go with the iron brothers please Curtis.........
now to the painting this is the first time I've tried OSL.............object source lighting? ...........so what do you think? did it work? has this was my first attempt I've been a bit conservative with the yellow! i was 'crap'ing my self doing this! i had visions of ending up with a 'off pink-red monstrous mess!' that would have worked for a 'Hello Kitty' build!
i thinks i'll go back and touch up the yellow ............actually i'm more pleased with the blue lamp! with a tiny little spot of white in the corner! but now i know i can control the airbrush i'm a lot more confident........

cheers

Some great stuff here

The tow truck looks better now in yellow, good to see some more colour work coming into play as you get back into it.

Do any of the R/C vehicles still work , or have they all been stripped of electrics as part of the build?

Never to old to learn mate and I have seen plenty to learn from here I love the way you emanate texture without it actually being there, the realism you achieve is just stunning.

So stop speeding through your projects and make a tut

Two things:

1) I really love how you've done the rust/metal on your vehicles. Would you mind posting a tutorial for it?

2) Will you be adding some more Ramshackle stuff? I really LOVE what you've done with that tank.

cheers Malika2 and there will be more Ramshackle stuff coming alone mate,

so i thought i'll throw this first of a couple of tuts up it's basic but that's me! i like to keep things simple......
first thing i use a AIRBRUSH....but there's no reason why you can't brush on the same for all the stages just make sure you 'stipple' the red and orange on
for all models that i'm going to want lots of RUST chipping/scratch's i start with this base rust combination
1. prime black
2 GW's .RHINOX HIDE base coat, this is your dark rust colour.
3.GW's EVIL SUNZ SCARLET sprayed or stippled on in a 'random' pattern go very light with this don't cover the whole model or you just end up with a red model!
4.GW's TROLL SLAYER ORANGE as above but put it mostly on top of the red, the red will show through making a nice lighter rust colour............

next i will seal it with a matt varnish ready for the 'Hair spray' and top coat........(the colour/colours you want the model) and the chipping.

and that's it! it's that simple!.............'honest guv'!

and a few pics ........."speak a thousand words"

hope this helps
cheers

cheers legoburner for your comments mate, glad your loving the thread, i try to keep all steps as simple has i can when i build and paint mainly for me!!

it's the start of the 'chipping!' for this one i'm using HUMBROL's MASKOL which is basically a thin rubber type mask, i apply it using a ripped up scotch pad or you can use sponge brush etc............in fact you can use about any thing you like really! after its dry about 20 minutes i paint on the top colour i want in this case simple black...its a blackcab after all! let the paint dry to the touch then rub it off
i use WHITE TACK to gently rub it off, i find white tack seems less grease'e then blue tack it just seems to pick the maskol up.......magic!........and the odd finger helps.
i like this stuff a lot! because i can put it exactly where i want it, on this model i want 'big!' chips..............................hmmmmmmm! chips!.......sorry i went off there! lol .........again some pics that do better then my words.............

in this one we see how the base rust colours really make a difference in places

'BIG' chips!

so thats the basic chip and rust base.............and don't forget you can repeat this as many times as you like with different colours.

cheers
