I'm using the North Africa book and the T14 pdf (just cuz I think they are cool). I was just wondering if this would be a good list. I mostly want to use it for casual games but would like at least some of it to be good for tournaments if I wanted to try one eventually. Is there anything I'm forgetting to include or anything that is not really worth taking? I started FoW recently and haven't played that many games. I figured its time for me to get my own army, but I wanted some feedback before I start buying stuff.

Small tank platoons and the small SPTD platoon aren't the best.

How about something like this instead?

7 M5s and 4M4s backed by an ARP, 4 M10s, mortars and recon.

Compulsory Tank Company HQ - CinC M5A1 Stuart, 2iC M5A1 Stuart (125 pts)

Compulsory Tank Platoon - Command M5A1 Stuart, 4x M5A1 Stuart (310 pts)

Compulsory Tank Platoon - Command M4 or M4A1 Sherman, 3x M4 or M4A1 Sherman (460 pts)

Armoured Mortar Platoon - Command Carbine, M2 half-track equipped with .50 cal AA MG, 3x M4 81mm MMC (80 pts)
- AA MG - 3x Equip M4 81mm MMC with .50 cal AA MG (15 pts)

Recon Platoon (Tank) - Command Carbine, M2 half-track equipped with .50 cal AA MG, 2x Rifle, 2x Jeep (60 pts)
- AA MG - 2x Equip unarmed Jeep equipped with AA MG (10 pts)

Self-propelled Anti-tank Platoon - Command Carbine, 2x Carbine, Jeep equipped with .50 cal AA MG, 2x Jeep, 4x M10 3in GMC (435 pts)

Armoured Rifle Platoon - Command Rifle, 5x Rifle, M3 37mm gun, 2x M1919 LMG, M2 60mm mortar, 2x M3 half-track equipped with .50 cal AA MG, 3x M3 half-track equipped with AA MG (175 pts)
- Bazooka Upgrade - Replace M3 37mm gun with Bazooka (0 pts)
- Bazookas - 4x Bazooka (only if 5x Rifle) (80 pts)

1750 Points, 6 Platoons

In order to field 2 T14s in either the M4 platoon or the HQ tanks, drop one M5.

Thanks for the fast reply

Are the Stuarts guns good enough against most tanks they would be fighting? It seems like they would be required to get side shots. Also if I take Stuarts are M5's better or will M3's be ok?

I had not considered the mortars but they are cheaper, they just don't have as good of range and are a little less powerful. How would M8 Scott's be? A bit more expensive but they have longer range, not quite sure if it's worth it.

I like the bigger TD platoon and I guess they are worth the points. Do the M10's use the TD rules in the US special rules and if so would the jeeps be the security section? If they do use the US TD rules doesn't that make them a recon platoon and make the other recon platoon unnecessary?

Between the M4s and the M10s you shouldn't need the Stuarts to go tank hunting. Most German lists can't afford that many medium tanks. However if you need to make side armor shots the stabilizers will allow you to fire twice on the move.
Seven Stuarts will also make a vicious assault element.

M8 Scotts can't smoke bombard which is the most important aspect of the Mortar platoon. The Mortars also have a better DirectFire range.

The US TD rules got changed in the PDF Lessons From the Front, which is the errata document from BF.

http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/Documents/LessonsFromTheFront.pdf

They are no longer recon platoons, but they get the 3+ save, disengage, and cautious movement as if they were recon.

Stuarts aren't for tanks. Infact, just forget they have a main gun.

Stuarts are there for their insane amount of machine guns and infantry assaults.

Thanks for the pdf link, I'll need to print that out.

Ok, so I will need recon as well as something that can provide a smoke bombardment. If the Stuarts are for attacking infantry could I leave out the rifle platoon?

How would this be:

Tank Company HQ - 115
M3A1 Stuart equipped with stabilizer x2

Tank Platoon - 230
M3A1 Stuart equipped with stabilizer x4

Tank Platoon - 230
M3A1 Stuart equipped with stabilizer x4

Tank Platoon - 485
M4A1 Sherman x3
T14 x1

Recon Platoon (Tank) - 70
Equip 2 jeeps with AA MG

Self-propelled Anti-tank Platoon - 435
M10 x4

Armored Field Artillery Battery - 185
M7 Priest x3

The stuarts can attack infantry, the shermans and wolverines can hunt tanks and the priests can provide smoke and pin the infantry before the stuarts attack. I kinda like priests better because they have longer range and might actually kill something with anti-tank of 4 and firepower 4+. And I just think they are cool.

Or maybe this would be better?

Tank Company HQ - 125
M5 Stuart x2

Tank Platoon - 310
M5 Stuart x5

Tank Platoon - 600
M4A1 Sherman x4
T14 x1

Recon Platoon (Tank) - 70
Equip 2 jeeps with AA MG

Self-propelled Anti-tank Platoon - 445
M10 x4
AA MG for jeeps

Armored Field Artillery Battery - 195
M7 Priest x3
AA MG for jeeps
