I just started playing Warmachine and Im working on my first 50pt Cygnar list. Im trying to decide if I want to add Steelheads or Forge Guard to what I currently own. Any advice would be welcome. Here is what I currently own. Im at 42 points. Steelheads would leave me with 48 and Forge Guard would bring me to 50.

The question is, do you want a speed bump or an actual melee threat?

Your list seems to lack both.

If you feel a meatshield/speed bump would be better you'll want the Steelheads.

If you want a durable, if a little slow, melee unit than Forgeguard are what you want.

Considering the majority of my units are ranged it would probably be better have a speed bump to keep them from being assaulted would it not?

It depends.

Steelhead halberdiers are not hard to kill, so if your opponents have easy ways to kill chaff(like lots of blast weapons/fire or are shooty themselves) it would be better to have the Forge Guard.

Forge Guard would also be better if your opponent has lots of durable units that don't really care about your shooting.

So you're suggesting Forge Guard for my purposes then?

Yeah, they do seem to be the best option.

Since you are playing eHaley then either unit will be pretty good against shooting, especially if you also toss on AS from Jr.

You are also looking pretty slow. So more speed would be good.

I also think 4 jacks might be a little overkill. Might consider modifying that approach a little and getting both units.

Not sure if you have yet or not, but you might want to consider Boomhowlers, Precursors and/or Silverline. Just some alternate ideas.

You can buff the speed of the Horgenhold, giving them +2" charge range and making them in faction by taking Jonas Murdoch and Finn. But that isn't the best idea in this list, since I don't think Haley's spells rely on in faction? I can't remember and I'm too lazy to go grab my card

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I would go for sword knights as the centurion gives them some heavy buffs In melee ( considering you bonded the centurion so it can keep up with the knights)

I see no place for a sentinel in a list without Kraye.
