Well im picking up the battlebox today!! Played a game the other day at the local gaming store with the staff and its awesome haha!!! Im looking to for a different way to paint Khador, preferably Non-red.... Was contemplating the idea of a dark purple instead of red with brass and silver trims/details and such? Looking for any suggestions for colors, im wide open to ideas!! Pictures help if you got em!

Thanks Dakka

Still in reserve.

I've decided on a Soviet-esque theme which I've seen a bit on the interbuttz quite a bit but I'm having a hell and a half of a time getting my OD green to settle right (Two of my Man O War Shocktroopers may end up dunked in Simple Green for the better part of a week because of my ineptitude to get the green to actually show >_<.

I plan to paint my WG Infantry with khaki uniforms/black ushankas/OD armor with a neat red trim. I'll post pictures of my Shock Troopers in a bit, however atrocious they may look right now.

EDIT: Here they are

The guy on the left was my test model; the guy on the right is what I want to get my other Shocktroopers to look like. I know it's not a very good paint-job I really don't have the skill to get these guys beyond table-top quality. I'm really vexed at how the OD went almost grey on the second model though; brown wash didn't help there (The lighting makes it look way more green than it actually is).

I'm going with a WW2 German theme with my new Khador army. The Khadoran Anvil conveniently replacing the swastika on all the motifs.

All the elite troops will be painted in SS colors while the rank and file will have Wehrmacht colors.

Behemoth will be painted in King Tiger camo.

Man I can't wait to see pics. I was actually messing around with the idea of a Wehrmacht theme for my Khador guys earlier this morning.

Mine is some what like this but only have red (red gore) on shoulder pads, Khador symbols are silver (ironbreaker), and then the rest of the armor is OD green (death world green). With a heavy black wash (nuln oil) because of the coal and wood ash that gets on everything.

I sort of reversed the studio scheme on mine. The core of the scheme is browns with red/gold as secondary colours.
Spoiler:

The only exceptions are for Vlad, Drago and Iron Fang units, where the red and brown trade places in how the scheme goes together.

Spoiler:

Hope these give a little inspiration.

Could you post pictures of your scheme please? I'm thinking of investing in a pot of Death World green before I continue with the rest of my Shocktroops because of how disappointed I am with the outcome of the new Catachan Green but I'm not sure how it looks.

That's the Motherland's Spring collection. Rarely seen as Khador prefers to make war during the winter and fall months when Red and Green are in season.

I would paint them with bare metal armour, because the motherland finds painting to be unmanly.

I would skip the purple for Khador since purple is pretty bound to Protectorate. But that´s just my two cents if you really want go for it.

Another thing is the WWII soviet theme or something along that. Less red, more "earth colours".

The red army in WW2 used rustic yellow greens with some winter white-washing. Not earthy colours much.

Look too much like dirty swans for my liking. I'd watch your back for Orsus Zokatavir.

Love the colors!

The blue & white is my favorite; very iconic!

While my circle army focuses around blue and being a winter based theme.. My Khador is rather different.. Being a huge military molder nut.. My current theme in progress is an olive drab main color, with all the metal rusted and dilapidated..

For my Khador I'm pretty much going to do WW2 Soviet inspired (original, I know ):

'Jacks and the thick armor plates (e.g. Shocktroopers) are going to be dark olive green (Vallejo 894 Russian Green, although it's really "Camo Olive Green"), basically the Soviet WW2 tank color, Infantry uniforms are going to be Vallejo 924 Russian Uniform WW2 with a secondary color in Khaki, with trying to get some red on every model (for example, the Khador symbol on the ushankas) since that's the national color.

I was originally thinking of doing a Napoleonic Russia color (dark green w/red trim and white) but white is IMO too stark a contrast and unlike Napoleonic troops there isn't really a "uniform" outside of WGI so after thinking about it it didn't really seem like it would look right, and also Napoleonic colors tend to look a bit more gaudy and less militaristic so didn't seem to suit the general gritty feel of Warmachine.
