First off is my SS schwere panzer list from devils charge, it includes no infantry and I'm a little worried about it's validity.

Peiper HQ - 1 Konigstiger (Henschel)

SS. Schwere Panzer Platoon - 2 Konigstiger (henschel)

SS. Schwere Panzer Platoon - 2 Konigstiger (henschel)

SS. Panzerspah Platoon - 3 Pumas

SS. Self propelled infantry gun platoon - 6 Grille (15cm sIG) K

The second list is from Atlantik wall.

Micheal Wittman

SS. Schwere Panzer Platoon - 3 Tiger 1E

SS. Schwere Panzer Platoon - 3 Tiger 1E

Rocket Artillery Battery - 1 with 3 15cm NW 41.

Both lists are relatively cheap to buy models wise, but seem empty compared to other lists I've seen. I don't know what sort of lists I'll be playing and I don't want to, I hate list tailoring. Overall, which list do you guys think will be more successful, and what do I need to add or remove to make both lists playable? XD

All I have to say is good luck fighting any sort of dug in infantry list with either listed option. The big issue with most heavy tank lists is that they can't bring very much to the table so if you knock out a few units the whole company is going to start having issues very quickly. I know my friend runs a Schwere Panzer list from Atlantik wall and manages to fight in 2 platoons of infantry, as well as motorcycle scouts, armored anti air, and a battery of rocket launchers. At least then he has forces to dig out enemy infantry and gun teams

Just my 2 cents

Unfortunately wittman add's 100pts to the HQ...I suppose I could reduce the tiger 1e platoons to two tanks each and get some infantry. Unfortunately I don't have much choice for the peiper list :/

Back in the English morass

Schwere Panzers are pretty much hopeless. Extremely expensive but not very effective. Heavy tanks work well in support roles but taken as the main force they lack the fire power to deal with infantry and the numbers to deal with casualties. They will tend to murder medium tank lists (to an extent) but get murdered by everything else.

They are of course very cheap to collect but its a false economy IMO, unless you just want to paint up some Tigers and your not that bothered about their tabletop performance.

I would take the first list as you badly need recce but I wouldn't take the Grilles, infantry would be a better option as well as some way of getting cheapish smoke bombardments. I don't know the list in question though so I'm not that sure on your options.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

At 2000 points, I would probably run the Piper list like this.

Compulsory SS-Kampfgruppe Peiper HQ - CinC Konigstiger (Henschel)
Compulsory Schwere SS-Panzer Platoon - Command Konigstiger (Henschel)
Schwere SS-Panzer Platoon - Command Konigstiger (Henschel)
SS-Panzer Platoon - Command Panzer IV J, 3x Panzer IV J

SS-Panzer Anti-Aircraft Gun Platoon - Command Wirbelwind (Quad 2cm), 2x Wirbelwind (Quad 2cm)

SS-Panzergrenadier Heavy Platoon - Command SMG, Sd Kfz 251/1D half-track
Mortar Section - Observer Rifle, Kubelwagen, 2x Sd Kfz 251/2D (8cm)

Gepanzerte SS-Panzergrenadier Platoon - Command MG, 6x MG, 4x Sd Kfz 251/1 half-track
- Command Upgrade - Upgrade Command MG to Command Panzerfaust SMG

Fallschirmjager Platoon - Command Rifle/MG, 9x Rifle/MG - Command Upgrade - Upgrade Command Rifle/MG to Command Panzerfaust SMG

SS-Panzerspah Platoon - Command Sd Kfz 234/2 Puma, 2x Sd Kfz 234/2 Puma

1980 Points, 8 Platoons

2000 points is more than I generally run, but its really only a King tiger more than I have run before. The key is that you end up playing it more like an infantry list, especially when facing another armored list. It's tough, you want to attack in order to get your assets on the table, but fully half of the list is big fat tanks that don't really want to stick thier noses out.

There are other options out there for schwere. The Hummel list in Bridge by Bridge..

Compulsory Kampfgruppe Hummel HQ - 1x CinC Tiger I E

Compulsory Hummel Schwere Panzer Platoon - 1x Command Tiger I E, 2x Tiger I E

Compulsory Hummel Schwere Panzer Platoon - 1x Command Tiger I E, 2x Tiger I E

Hummel Schwere Panzer Platoon - 1x Command Tiger I E, 1x Tiger I E

SS-Panzerspah Platoon - 1x Command Sd Kfz 250/9 (2cm), 3x Sd Kfz 250/9 (2cm)

Ersatz Panzergrenadier Platoon - 1x Command Panzerfaust SMG, 6x MG

Ersatz Panzergrenadier Platoon - 1x Command Panzerfaust SMG, 6x MG

SS-Rocket Launcher Battery - 1x Command SMG, 1x Observer Rifle, 1x Kubelwagen, 3x 15cm NW41 rocket launcher

Luftwaffe FlaK Platoon - 1x Command SMG, 1x 8.8cm FlaK36 gun, 2x 2cm Flakvierling 38 gun

1985 Points, 8 Platoons

You don't have the cool Tiger Ace skills, and the Tigers themselves are practically falling apart (slow, unreliable, and I think overloaded), but it is damn scary to see that many big cats sitting across from you.

There is also the Hungarian Harckocsizo Szazad list. CV tigers without ace skills so you save some points there and have options for scouts (light tanks...Toldi II I believe), arty (the amaxingly cheep Hungarian 149 with a 5/2+ but no smoke), and infantry.

I have thought about using a schwere panzerkompanie from grey wolf, or just a normal panzer kompanie with kongistiger support. Something along the lines of...

HQ - 2 panther A or G (not sure which is best yet)

Compulsory platoon - 3 Panther A or G

Panzer platoon - 4 panzer IV H

Schwere panzer platoon - 1 Konigstiger (Henschel)

Tracked panzerspah platoon - two patrols of Panzer Luchs

Rocket Launcher Battery - HQ with 3 15cm NW 41

Does that list look any better? And I'm not too bothered about winning, but it would be nice to give myself a fighting chance.

Of the lists in the thread this is the one I could myself using. It's got recon, smoke, and enough numbers to slug it out in assault if it comes to it.

Well out of that final list, I just need a new Konigstiger (ruined mine with glue, paint and missing bits) a box of panthers, a box of panzer IV's and the Luchs.

Ha, so alternatively, you've got some nebelwerfers... ?

I have...

2 X Open fire boxset, but three stugs are missing the muzzle breaks, and quite a few infantry are broken.

A single Panther (Can't remember which model)

A ruined Konigstiger (Might as well make a nice objective)

Three nebelwerfers.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just came up with another list from grey wolf which I think seems a little more adaptable.

SS Panzerkampfegruppe HQ - 2 PanzerIV H

SS Panzer Platoon - 3 Panther A or G

SS Panzer platoon - 3 PanzerIV H

SS Heavy Tank Platoon - 2 Tiger 1E

SS Rocket Launcher Battery - HQ with three Launchers

Heavy SS Panzerspah Platoon - 3 Panzerspah Platoons (8-rad)

The only advantage I can think of for this list over the Panzer Kompanie is that it's entirely SS totenkopf, so should stick around longer in any kind of assault.
