So I will be playing my first game of Fantasy next Friday which is exciting but I have no idea what to bring. I am new to Fantasy (and 40k) and my only army I have for Fantasy is the Skaven. All I have are 2 Island of Blood sets worth of Skaven. I am not quite sure where to start with making a list and was hoping you guys could give me some suggestions. I know it isn't usually very strict with WYSIWYG in Fantasy or so I have read but at the place I play it is. So sadly keep in mind that 40 of the clan rats I have must have spears and the other 40 have hand weapons since that is what IoB comes with.

Wonderful, thank you!

No one replied for a few days so I was worried I wouldn't get much advice

I'm currently in doubt if you should take a Warlord and Warplock Engineer, or a Chieftain and Engineer, or just one of either.

I'd take two units of 30 Skaven - you'll be able to make those from your IoB Clanrats while still being WYSIWYG.

I'll try to find some sort of "solution" tomorrow - I desperately want you to include some Rat Ogres!

Ok, sounds great! I only have 2 of my rat ogres painted up though.

Hopefully I don't end up wanting to bring stuff I don't have painted yet since I just got a Dakkajet that I would like to start painting.

You can fill 500 points with those two blocks, a warlord with halberd, and an engineer with a musket and lvl 1 sorcerer, I think.

Should do alright. I'd prefer to include some Rat Ogres, so you can get to learn to use Monstrous Infantry, too, though.

I've no advice, I'm just new to the game too, had my first mini game last month. Just wanted to say good luck and have fun.

I think this should be a nice start to learn the rules from, while also having a decent list:

Lords/Heroes
Warlock Engineer
-Lvl 1 Wizard
-Warpmusket
80 points

Core

30 Clanrats
-Spears
-Shields
-Banner and musician
162 points

30 Clanrats
-Shields
-Full command
155 points

Special

Rat Ogres
-2 Rat Ogres
-2 packmasters
96 points

TOTAL: 493 points

Try this:

1 Warlord + halberd (93)

1 Warlock Engineer + Doomrocket (45)

35 Clanrats + shields + full command (177.5)
1 Warpfire Thrower (70)

2 Rat Ogres + 2 packmasters + Master Bred Rat Ogre (111)

499.5 total

The Warlord can pass out his awesome Ld, but is also a surprising little hammer with WS6 S5 A4.
The Warlock has a Doomrocket. Because that thing is stupidly good. Especially at lower point levels.
The Warpfire Thrower can give you s'more punch.
A Master-bred Rat Ogre is an excellent buy.
