Not sure whether this is appropriate to post here. This is another hybrid between tabletop miniatures and computer technology. The official website states that Jean Bey helps to design the figures. I believe that Jean was previously the founder of Rackham. The company that produced games such as Confrontation with all those awesome figures. The new figures for Prodigy actually look pretty good in picture. Check in out yourself.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I was expecting a Keith Flint miniature, but this certainly looks very interesting.

Glad to see people trying to push some boundaries, and they've got some pretty talented artists working with it. Will be interested to see how this develops!

The gameplay itself looks incredibly dumbed down. Like Ex Illis, it is inferior to what either tabletop gaming or computer gaming is capable of representing on its own.

Can't say that I'm a fan of Jean Bey, so that's not much of a selling point here...

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Anime styling, 60mm scale, simplistic gameplay. Hmm, pass.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

What is the point of a new medium unless it enhances some aspect of the experience that you already find appealing?

It looks like they had to sacrifice a great deal of what table top gamers want in a game just to put it on a computer screen. Still, it's cool to see folks trying out new things.

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

AlexHolker: "The power loader is a forklift. The public doesn't complain about a forklift not having frontal armour protecting the crew compartment because the only enemy it is designed to face is the OHSA violation."

AlexHolker: "Allow me to put it this way: Paramount is Skynet, reboots are termination attempts, and your childhood is John Connor."

Yeah pretty much this. Just look at the shot of the two people playing against each other, they're not even interacting on the same board but rather staring at their individual laptops
opposite each other, isn't the charm of miniature wargaming playing and interacting with you opponent, in this it begs the question as to why they are even in the same room at all
or even on the same continent for that matter, and since its the PC that's responsible for all the game play, not the board or miniatures, whats the point of it having them.

Well, either way best of luck to them, its always nice to see people trying to innovate and this game will have a market, just look at skylanders. I like the artwork, shame the mini's are
60mm (why???) and are thus incompatible with anything else I own, otherwise I would've bought some for use with anima tactics.

The game is primarily designed for remote play or against AI. There is little reason for head to head because you will need two game boards and two computers to work. Theoretically, they can make it entirely a computer game but then everyone will have access to the same figures. Yes, it is not comparable to some of the popular tabletop miniature games. On the other hand, there are many people who don't want to assemble or to paint miniatures or who don't have the time to go to the FLGS to meeting other people to play. Yet, they do like miniatures.

I posted about this game when it launched, but nobody paid attention.

Big difference with Sklanders is interaction- you play together rather than against each other.

My kids can play together, and it's fun to watch them yell and argue and wave controllers as they try to problem solve out loud together.

Plus, they can take those figures over to their cousins to play on his console, or on a family member's tablet.

I'd consider picking up some of the figures when the game goes out of vogue.

Anime style monsters are always up my alley!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Why? He's a really nice guy and I've yet to hear differently from anyone else who's met him.

The miniatures look nice, but going by that gameplay description I'm just not seeing the point of them for this game.

To be frank, I'd rather have board-game like components and component packs to buy than have to use a tablet at the table to handle rules resolution.

But I'm not against the idea, I just think that the tech has to reach a point where it's seamless and instant. For example, instead of relying on a grid or having to scan or punch in info into a tablet after every move and action, the tablet reads everything automatically. This would allow tabletop games with even more depth as you can have stats and rules with more complicated math, or game elements that might have required more bookkeeping.
