Is there any way to get no-knockdown in a highborne list that can affect the caster? I want there to be a way to make it so that Ashlynn can't be knocked down, because she seems really hard to put down while camping as long as she is standing up. Especially with Quicken up on her. I just need to stop her getting knocked down...damn headbutting jacks.

You can do it with Fiona and Grogspar but I don't think that there's anything currently out there that would stop Ashlynn from being knocked down.

The Freebooter and Mariner have Lash (warriors B2B can't be knocked down). If you're camping the Mariner might be a better choice because Ashlynn can load its gun while they're hanging out.

The Mariner is a good trade off for her usual trusty Mule friend if you're having trouble with Knockdown. I still think Galleon should have had Lash too, but considering how amazing both Mercenary Colossals are I won't shed too many tears over it. If you're REALLY having trouble with your caster being knocked down, try switching over to the pairing of Damiano and Rocinante for a while. Sure Foot up on Rocky gives you a can't be knocked down, Def 19 against melee Damiano. Plus since you're going to keep Rocky within 3", you have a good chance at triggering a Defensive strike against anything that comes for your caster.

The problem with Lash is you're painting a big red bullseye on the Jack to be hit by AoEs. Then the opponent just boosts damage. Ashlynn is not the most sturdy of casters. Also, since you're not targeting her she can't quickdraw her way out of the shot.

Yeah, while mercs have a variety of abilities for each of their units, mostly outside the Talion Charter or lists that include some pirates and their support solos, there is not much in the way of no knockdown sadly.

Probably with an upkeep or 2, but with Sylyss she'd still be sitting at 20. There would be problems with slamming and stuff if the enemy got angles, but otherwise it seems like a pretty good idea. Fire would be troublesome though

Ah alright, I get ya now. Sorry, I thought you where talking about just the Mariner. Although my guess is one or two of that focus is going to be used for upkeeps (although that is not very likely).

She's only got two Upkeeps, and only one(Quicken) is typically going to be cast early(so still at 21 with Sylys). By the time she casts Admonition, she's probably close enough to be popping feat and/or making her assassination run. At that point, any AoE ranged weapons you're most worried about are close enough to be Quick Draw'd.

As I pointed out at the start she can't quickdraw vs AoEs that target the Jack. She can only quickdraw vs attacks targeting her.

This is a bit of a loaded question with her.
I seem to always have 2 spells being upkept or used..
That Itself drops you down to 5 with Sylys, it all depends if you need to load up your jacks or not.
I think this can be resolved more now with Gastone, along with keeping Ashlynn alive.
Gastone with a Vanguard and a mule is what id like to try with Ashlynn, or it may even be better for just 2x Vanguards. Option of 2x Shield guards could be nice, 3x if you take Gallant with her.
Ive been out of the loop but i sometimes have the same issue when i get her to mid ranger before feat turn with knockdowns and deaths.

If she is in danger, probably 4-5 without Sylys, and 5-6 with him.
It's so dependent on what you need her controlled jack (and I'd argue that she should probably only be controlling one) to do, and any spell removal the enemy may have. If that jack has the potential to take out the immediate threat, it gets focus, if not she keeps it for herself. I'm very interested to see what Gastone brings to the table with her, to the point that he's probably the next thing on my list to put together (I was going to wait to see the non Kickstarter version before I assemble my KS reward one, the sculptor has hinted that the general release one will actually be holding his gun). Mercs have always had pretty amazing Jack Marshall capability so it wasn't like we were a NEVER TAKE MORE THAN ONE JACK! faction like Khador, but having a second fully loaded jack is a pretty big deal in my opinion. Vanguards will probably be the first thing to try, but I'm also kind of wondering how he'd do with something like a Nomad to play backup to Gallant if Ashlynn needs to keep her focus .

If she's in the threat range of an enemy heavy, not enough.
If she gets hit, with or without Focus, she's in big trouble.

You can also use the rhulic Tac. 2 or 3 smoke templates will block completely LOS to Ashlynn. Pretty good to protect her.
