The world of miniature gaming on ebay, like anything else, has a number of bizarre and/or odd entries, from crazy-looking conversions to insane asking prices.

It is fun to have a thread that focuses on such oddities. This is a continuation from a previous dakka thread of the same topic.

However, that previous thread was locked because some of the people posting in it seemed to be forgetting some of the basic tenants of posting on Dakka, primarily that you must always remain polite.

While ebay may have plenty of auctions that feature incredibly crude conversions, blatant forgeries, terrible paint jobs, etc, if you'd like to discuss those things here on Dakka you must do so in a polite fashion, as though the users running and participating in the auctions are reading and responding in this thread (because for all you know, they might be).

So no calling people 'clowns', 'morons', etc, no matter how bizarre the auction may seem. Anyone who ignores this warning will be disciplined exactly as though they were insulting another Dakka user (because they may well be without knowing it).

With that out of the way, I thought I'd grab one of the last auction links from that previous thread, just so this one isn't starting without any content to immediately look at.

That thread was a problem? I dont get it, so lets someone tried to sell something for 1000$ that cost less than 100$, we can not estimate the sellers intelligence? I feel like i'm getting too old for this.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

The basic tenant of posting here on Dakka is to remain polite at all times. We can all certainly point out and enjoy when an auction goes for way above what the miniatures normally cost, but just like everywhere else on the site, there is no reason to be insulting about it. It's the basic difference between being polite or rude.

It's very simple. You just remark that it is amazing that someone paid X amount of dollars for something, but you don't call them an idiot or a moron. Both get the same point across, but one is rude while the other is polite.

If you don't care for remaining polite, there is literally everywhere else on the internet that you can go to read and spew vitriol to your heart's content.

95% of that previous thread's commentary was fine, but I just wanted to restart the thread with a basic reminder about the site rules in the original post. So really, no big deal here.

If you'd like to discuss the point further, please feel free to PM me so we don't fill this thread with off-topic conversation.

I think the new rules are justified. People have a tendency to vastly overestimate themselves and their belongings. To them, their stuff is worth more than retail despite any shortcomings in actual quality because they made it.

This could legitimately be a studio model, at this point aesthetically. I mean, maybe they're not quite, there, but this does seem to be where the studio is going.

The conversion uses a lot of high-end Forge World parts, some of which you cannot easily source outside of buying an entire model kit. My money is on these FW parts being from a recaster, but that is just personal opinion. Plus the base AT-AT model is rather valuable further upping the component costs.

Buying, rather than selling, from Singapore might ring a few bells, but not the reverse. That said, don't take unnecessary risks with a new account, regardless.

I don't know if it will be a problem or not. Most of my problems have come from European buyers. You can even dig up a thread or two I made on the subject if you want. Still, as long as the buyer pays I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm just afraid that he might receive the items and then ask for a refund just because he'll get it automatically, and then I'll have to go through the wringer to get the money back.
