Hi all,

I'd like to introduce the Wath Wargames army display stand. It is currently designed to hold an entire Imperial Guard platoon, as per the codex.

Plans are in place to make a wall mounted version.

And eventually other armies like the dual battle company Space Marine display.

Any questions/suggestion please speak up.

I would suggest that if you put these into production, you offer buyers the chance to configure their own stands. For example choose the tray or wall mounted configurations you have just shown. Then choose what flat pieces go into them.

Eg I see what seem to be boards making up the stand, some with 10 25mm slots, some with 2 60mm slots. Offer boards cut for 25mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm bike base size, some sort of general vehicle size etc. Just allow every customer to work out what they need for their models and then buy 24 boards of their choice to fill out the stand. (24 is just a guess based on those pictures; however many the stand contains)

Hope that helps. An example for this system is Kaiser Rushforth and the options they offer for a selection of different cut and thickness foam trays, all fitting into the same cardboard cases.

Imperial Guard: 4000 pts

Corregidor 700 pts
Acontecimento 400 pts

A tiered display stand sized to fit into an IKEA Detolf would be nice.

For the marines, rather then 2x battle company, you might want to consider space for vehicles. Of course, this might be problematic if you are restricted to circular cut outs. Even then, I might just like some blank shelves to park rhinos/drop pods on.

This is most likely the way things will go.

Nevelon, it's not restricted to circular cut outs only. Plain shelves or tank spaces can be done.

Have you made a test-rack yet? The design looks not to sturdy as it is right now. I am afraid that it will not hold together well. It would be better if you could show pictures of an actual product, even if its just a prototype.

How wide are the shelves? Will you fit flyerbases? Big vehicles like Land Raiders?

What about material? MDF?

Waiting on the prototype but should have it early next week. It will be MDF. I agree the image doesn't look like it would be all that sturdy, because of that I've added extra support to it but not updated the original image. The shelves are 24" wide and 3" deep, if flyers fit then it will be an option soon.

You really need the full dimensions of something like this on the KS page.

You know I didn't even think of that Azazelx.

If someone can provide the dimensions of a Detolf cabinet there will be a stand to fit it tomorrow0.

To comfortably fit inside a Detolf, you want it to be 36cm wide by 30cm deep.

My dimensions are correct, assuming you want it to fit inside. See those bars? They're on the inside. They hold up the glass shelves. 163cm is the height of the entire cabinet. 43cm is the width of the wooden top and bottom, which as you can see, protrudes from the glass body of the cabinet, and your bars are further inside again.

I'm too lazy to get up and check, but does this leave a bit of room in the front?

A few inches for models to sit on the glass with bleachers behind them would work for my needs.

Are the shelf heights adjustable?

This has them inside the four points of the posts, but with a tiny overlap over the glass sheets. Basically takes up the entire shelf, so no extra room in the front. If Curtis wants to leave some space for models to sit on the glass, just reduce the 30cm by however much. Unless you're parking vehicles in front, I think it might look odd, though.

Nope.

What's the maximum I could go with the height?

it's 38cm from the shelf to the next shelf. I doubt you'd want to go higher than 30cm (and probably a fair bit lower).

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the Detolf version. Troop only shelves at the moment though. It is 30cm deep, 30cm high and 36cm wide.

Looking good mate.
I can't be far from you btw if you're based in wath!

If I played guard I'd be tempted, but I don't.
Once you open up options for other armies I'd be tempted.
Particularly Tau!

So as it seems people want to see different layouts what do people want to see?

The shelves can hold up to 30 x 25mm bases 15 x 40mm and 6 x 60mm bases.

Are you planning on adding more variety to the kickstarter?
The reward says
"Currently only available for Imperial Guard armies but looking to add more armies and base sizes in the very near future. "
How is it restricted to IG? Surely it's standard GW base sizes?
That's a bit off putting, and makes it seem like a kickstarter for IG only.
Will you be adding the detolf versio to the kickstarter?

I'm not trying to be picky, I am actually genuinely interested in the product, but your presentation is somewhat lacking.

Been Around the Block

Yes there will be more variety added to the Kickstarter over the next couple of days.

The cut outs are standard GW size, however the layout is for an IG platoon. I will be adding cavalry bases soon.

The Detolf version will be going on the kickstarter once I get a price back for production. Hopefully today though.

Any other questions?

Nope, that about covers it I better keep an eye on the kickstarter! Thanks, Curtis.

I've also edited the KS to show that it is the layout that is only IG not the whole stand.

With very little modification, you could change the original/existing stand to be for a full company of Space Marines plus auxilia.

100 (10x10) Marines on 25mm rounds.
3 or 4 Dreadnoughts (bring your existing 60mm rounds a bit closer together.)
Then change up the middle space of the IG design:
Space for heroes - captain, librarian, chaplain, etc.
5 or 10-man honour guard space

Then some space for:
Centurions (unit of 3)
Bikes (5x rounded cavalry bases)
Rhinos/Razorbacks

Of course, almost no-one's army will exactly fit whatever you design, but that's just as likely for the IG design.

Also - put the link to your KS in your signature and also the first post.
