New to Dakka but hoping to make some new painting buddies here. I am a painter first. WHFB player second. In fact, I've never played but that's because I take forever to paint. I've even gone outside GW lately getting minis that suit me. So you'll probably see a lot of Warriors of Chaos stuff here, but also a few other minis that I find aesthetically pleasing. If it looks like it has good NMM surfaces, for example, I will probably pick it up. Not really into Sci if or 40k, however recently been eyeing some of the Horus Heresy figures from Forgeworld and am impressed.

Ok so without further ado, this first mini is my current WIP. It is a khorne Exalted Hero. However, I have decided to make him a Frozen version. The cracks you see on the shield will end up all over the mini's armor. He will come complete with a snow display base, icicles hanging from everything. Would really appreciate your thoughts on this, my virgin Dakka post!!!

Base. It will have snow and a bunch of other items of interest. It ended up being a little too big for my purposes, but that's ok. Live and learn.

Going to apply more cracks to everything tonight, this will make it so that everything is is just finishing touches. Ideas? Criticism? Comments?

It doesn't pop overnight. Plus your title doesn't exactly say "painting KHORNE blue" or anything to draw Khorne followers. Also its been a couple slow days. Weekends can be hit or miss as well, especially if there's tournaments or cons going on.

As for the model I love the colors you have very nice paintjob.

Thanks guys, was being a cry baby in hopes that I'd get attention. It worked!!! Seriously though, thanks for the remarks. It's important to me cuz I'm relatively new to painting.

Blues were done with a base of imperial guard blue. Then shaded with teclis blue, alaitoc blue, and kantor blue. Highlighted by adding white to imperial guard.

Here is an ice WIP shot. How it looks on it's base. It's NOT done yet though. Still need snow and cracks need to be free handed over all of his armor. Unless someone falls me out if it.

Anyone know a good tutorial for making arrows? Besides the massive voodoo one?

Wondering how to do snow on this base. I don't want to cover up all the details, because I am told the base looks pretty good right now. So I am going to do a light dusting in spots, but I also need to make some snow drifts. Wondering where or how to effectively place these without obscuring detail. I also will be placing a ton of icicles.

Maybe I should just quit while I'm ahead. I don't want to do this until I have given it my best. Wondering if this guy would pull and 8.0 or higher on CMON. I know it's tough to say but what do YOU think???

Blue khorne.

Looks good. Definitely a non-standard colour scheme for Khorne and some nice NMM work. I think some snowdrifts and such would aid the overall model a great deal, as blue and gold traditionally make people think of Tzeentch, and so adding snow etc will give the blue theme much more of a context.

Snow drifts? Hmmm...you mean like this? We are of the same mind here...

Had to Google that one. Indeed, he killed a Giant Horseshoe Crab in the Chaos Wastes to earn his appearance.
