Rifle Company, not platoon. That offering actually interests me in the event I ever get through my 101st.

Being relatively new a question in regards to distribution; roughly how long does it take for something to be "available" from Battlefront's online store (e.g. - Pershings or this upcoming rifle company) to when they arrive at US-based stores?

I'm not saying you people aren't allowed to have fun with this, but it's nothing Plastic Soldier and Zvezda haven't done years ago, with lower prices and finer detail.

Really looking forward to the shermans! Just remember doing my Psc ones and the nightmare of the multi part track!

Trying to see if (bar the crew) the new Carius Jagdtiger is different to the existing one?

You mean except for the part where there's a picture of the sprue at the link above and the tracks are a single piece? I'm curious about how they handle the height that the Sherman has, but the tracks are pretty easy to identify as single-piece.

That's not to bash PSC's offering in the area; I find that any minor shortcomings like multi-part tracks are more than offset by the overall cost difference and versatility with the tank kits. I'm quite happy with my Panther company and snagging enough 251/1Ds to outfit an HMG platoon rather than shelling out tons more for resin models. I might not care for PSC's infantry that much, but that's a personal preference. However, it's the same thing here where some people will prefer BF's tank offering and that's fine. No need to say something that's easily proven false in an attempt to bash a company you don't like.

PSC are two part tracks... hardly hard if put together right.

But then I build Dragon kits with single link tracks...

I've had some PSC russian infantry that I used in a "loner/teaching" army. Quickly discovered that a confused player focusing on rules is not focusing on the casualty pile on the side of the table and the drop to the floor was sufficient to break -several- ankles. I haven't had that issue with the BF german plastic infantry I have used to date. Not saying it won't happen, just hasn't happened yet.

I've also had a problem with PSC plastic barrels on my panthers. Where the BF bend, these snap. Now the two I have had snap snapped in the same spot (about 1/4 inch in from the tip) so it could have just been a bad mold or pastic batch. I had that issue way back when with some GW plastic skellies that had about a 20% failure of the same leg set at the exact same point.

Actually the newer kits from PSC are single piece tracks. Plus they're supposed to be adding single piece tracks to the T34 and Panzer IV kits

I've had the same issue with my PSC Fireflies.

The plastic infantry company boxes are excellent for what you get. $35 MSRP for the Grenadier one last month was just great. If I hadn't already grabbed the PSC infantry box, I'd get these instead for sure. While the PSC ones have a classic toy soldier look to them, I find their detail is shallow on the infantry compared to BF's plastics (if Open Fire is any indication, they're the only ones I've seen in person).

BF's approach with plastic tanks though, seems to be to charge their old metal prices for them. $70 for 5 panthers isn't great. Considering for just a bit more you can get 10 from Plastic Soldier Company. That's half the price. Heck, I can get metal ones from Peter Pig for less than the cost of Battlefront's plastic.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Until PSC started their new 'chunky' 15mm infantry their infantry offerings had been decidedly lacking in durability. To my knowledge Zvesda make none of these kits at all. It would be interesting to see a side by side review of the PSC and BF Sherman kit, same for the respective T-34 kits. Assuming of course than a genuine comparison of these models was in any way the point of your post.

For those suffering with broken barrels I'd suggest replacing them with brass rod or wire in the case of smaller calibres. I had the same problem with my Zvesda BT-5s, I just cut off the barrels, drilled into the mantlet and replaced the barrel with an appropriate length of wire. Broken metal barrels are IMO far harder to replace, especially if the gun has a muzzle brake.

iirc, Battlefront's Panthers are resin hulls with plastic parts. AFAIK, there have only been four fully plastic vehicle boxes released so far - Panzer Mk IV, T-34, Soviet tank killers, and the Pershings.

Battlefront's current US infantry company received some criticisms when it was first released, though unfortunately I don't remember the details.

Let's just say that Battlefront hasn't released their plastic Panthers yet. They're planned to be released later this year.

Aren't the Dragon kits a lot much expensive than any other 1/72 models for wargaming?

It's always good to see a variety of miniatures from different companies, but to be quite honest, I'm not that big into plastic at 15mm. For tanks it's probably alright, but in terms of durability, at 15mm I vastly prefer metal infantry.

Hi folks.
Looking at the US rifle company , there does not seem to be enough rifle armed men to make up 2 platoons with 9 x 4 man rifle teams.( 72 rifle men in total.)
There are 6 sprues with 10 rifle men on each sprue.

Do you make up the numbers with 6 BAR and 6 NCOs?

Any one got any more info on this box ?

Yes, that is exactly what you do.

From Chris at Battlefront on their forums: http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=126&aff=127&aft=564102&afv=topic&afpgj=2

Skylifter is right on the money, it does take a little creative work and using some of the extra NCOs to fill the role as "Riflemen" that have upgraded to a Thompson somewhere along the way.

I think the BARs aren't mentioned because I don't believe FoW gives any special consideration to BAR-armed troops. They're just for variety and confer no in-game benefit outside of the US Automatic Rifles special rule which generically applies to rifle teams, BAR-equipped or not.

Slightly OT but are they part of a re cut T-34 sprue or a separate sprue? Are they the same wheels as the original or the 'T-34-85M' wheels?
