Well, after a recent close call with a house break-in I realized I had no idea the full size of my model collection. If I ever needed to replace anything I'd have no idea what I had boxed up. So, in an effort to document everything I have in the house (hobby related) I decided I should start up a P&M Blog. Hopefully this will get me motivated to paint up those models I have on the shelf and limit me on what I pick up in the future. With regards to the break-in, both guys were caught, no-one was hurt and just some damage to a laptop that was due to be replaced. I'd buy a lottery ticket but pretty sure I used up my good luck for the year.

I'll start out with a couple of pictures from my Tau. The original painting was done back when the Tau were first released and I'm just now updating my collection with some of the more recent models. I'd love to pick up some of the new Broadsides but I'll have to clear up some more space on my painting desk before I do. This picture gives a general feel for the look of the army. Back when I made the Devilfish it was possible to add more than 2 seeker missles to vehicles. The missiles are magnetized but only having two doesn't look as imposing as the full loadout.

Nothing too crazy with the basic Firewarriors. These are from a squad I painted up earlier this year.

Here's a small group of Kroot from my original Tau army. I've got 40 painted up like this but haven't been able to get a decent quality image of the larger horde.

The commander was my first attempt at converting a model. A couple spare wires added in and a customized plasmagun gave him a unique look but over the years I've had to rebuild him a couple times and the suit's multi-tracker's been permanently shortened.

More images and inventory to come when I finish writing up my list of all the Tau model's I have on the shelf.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Tau Inventory:
Riptide
2x hammerhead
3x devilfish
42 fire warriors pulse rifle

6 pathfinders w rail rifle
3 pathfinders w ion rifle
1 marker drone
1 recon drone
1 grav-inhibitor drone

I think eventually I'll get this list split into unpainted/painted sections but for now I'd have to say it's about 50% painted with various WIP spread throughout.

A couple months back I managed to get a great deal on some unpainted second-hand guard. I had never considered building an IG army until I saw the army posted online for a price that was within my budget. Since then I've picked up a couple more tanks to fill out the list but the majority of the models came from that first deal. I've finally settled on a paint scheme that I like, I've finished up a couple guardsmen, 3 chimeras and I'm starting to get the group of Sentinels painted up. Originally I wasn't planning on doing any weathering or battle damage on the models but after testing it out on the sentinel I really liked the character it added to the model.

The Chimera was my first test model for the vehicle paint scheme and my first try at using weathering powders. It's tabletop ready but at some point I think I'll be going back to add some more battle damage to the model.

Here's the full Guard inventory:

3x chimera
Hellhound
2x Valkyrie

Here's one of the pictures I have of my Tau Riptide. I've magnetized the guns so that I can switch up the options but I've yet to finish painting the large burst cannon.

I managed to get some more painting done today on my second Sentinel and finished up all the magnetized guns for the Sentinels. When I get all 5 of them done I'll go back and try adding some weathering powders to see if that adds more to the overall look. Here's the second Sentinel before today's last touch-ups. I was running out of 60mm bases so I picked up one of the Secret Weapon Miniatures bases from the local shop.

Thanks for the comments guys!

I've managed to finish up the remaining Sentinels and all of the weapon options. It's so nice to swap the weapons and change the look and feel of the model. Hopefully I'll be able to get some games in shortly and have the walkers out on the table.

After playing around some more with the camera settings I'm still looking for the best settings/lighting for the pictures. Just when I think I've got a good picture I load it up on the computer and find out my exposure/white balance was totally shot. Spent a couple hours last night playing around some more with the camera and managed to get a couple more pictures uploaded to the site but it seems I'm trashing more pictures that I'm keeping.

Here's the Armored Sentinel Squadron kitted out with the Lascannons

All 5 Sentinels before I start playing around with the weathering powders.

One of the Heavy Weapon teams I've been working on. I've got 2 more almost ready to go just need to find more time to get them finished up.

Then I've got one squad of regulars nearing completion. Still plenty of work to go just a matter of getting motivated to finish them all up.

Finally got around to finishing up my first squad of guard. Added in some weathering to make them look like they've seen some wear and tear.

Finished up a couple Kasrkin models

And then went back, added in weathering powders and battle damage to the Chimera I had posted earlier in the thread.

Sick. The Kasrkin look great. The camo scheme just works really well, especially on the vehicles. It takes weathering really well without starting to lose contrast and fight the camo.

Looking forward to murdering them with whatever army I'm imagining I'm collecting on any given week.

Looking forward to it! I got in a couple games against Dark Eldar and the Sentinels managed to hold their own. My Valkyrie still has trouble finding the table but that's just the luck of the draw.

I was amazed at how much character the weathering added to the paint scheme and hopefully I'll get one of my Leman Russ tanks on the painting table. I think I might only have 90 more guard to go. After the next squad's painted up I think I'll get my Piranha finished up but for know I've been busy magnetizing Tanks and a Taurox.

So, having finished up a couple games of 7th, I finally decided to get my command squad painted up. I really like the Commander model and wasn't sure how best to go about fitting him into my paint scheme. Finally decided to just put the brush to the model and the result definitely fits in with the rest of the army. Also glad to have this guy in metal. So nice not having to worry about losing parts when transporting models or if they get bumped around. Spoiler tags added as the images were a bit larger than expected.

Spoiler:

Master of Ordnance and Astropath added to the Company Commander.
Spoiler:

And the command squad medic.
Spoiler:

After getting these guys all finished up I finally decided to paint up the custom Inquisitor I had sitting on the shelf. I used on of Scibor's models as the base and then just kit-bashed the arms from the Grey Knight Terminator box. The scale's a little bit larger than the regular terminators but considering he's an Inquisitor it can be pretty easy to come up with a backstory as to why he's that large. Also, let's me use him as a Grand Master if I every wanted to use one and he wouldn't appear too out of place.

Spoiler:

Here are some of the other Grey Knight models that I'd finished up years back. These were also some of my first attempts at converting models. I'd love to be able to fix the "shield" on the first model but I went overboard with attaching it to his arm and I wouldn't be able to replace it without hacking off the whole arm. With all the other models I have sitting around I figure I'll just use the guy as a Inquisition Crusader for now.

Spoiler:

Here's a squad of Grey Knights combining both the original sculpts and the new plastic kits. I should eventually get around to basing the new guys but for now that's lower down my list of things to do.

Spoiler:

Another couple models from years back. It's always interesting to go back and look at older models just to see how my painting's changed over the years. Always seems like there are things I'd like to fix up but realistically won't as I'd rather work on the latest model.

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Hopefully should have my first squad of Kasrkin finished up for next week as I just have the basing and weathering to go.

Another group of guard painted up so I'm gradually making a dent in the pile of bodies sitting on the shelf. I think I still have over 100 models left to go.

And I've got the first squad of Kasrkin up and running with an extra body thrown in. Painting goals for the month have been achieved plus I have the main colors blocked out on my Valkyrie so it doesn't seem too out of place on the tabletop.

Thanks for the compliments! Hopefully I'll get back to painting up some Tau soon but I'm so close to getting a painted guard army on the table. Just a couple more vehicles to go and seems the moment something new hits the table it takes ages to pick up the old models.
