print and play rules to try out: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yc7i1zy4yz12t2j/PnP.pdf

This is how the Armymals board game from the Titan Forge Games will look after the set up. Our project is getting chubby content-wise. We are including a special set of dice, models of tanks and environment, an army of characters and piles of cards and tokens. Everything needed to promote a new Furry General, the highest military rank of Armymals. Remember, the hastiest Kickstarter supporters get the Early Bids!

Stretch Goals

They've run previous indiegogo and KS projects at least some of which have completed ok. I backed their recent metalbeards KS which was well run and kept delivering updates/sculpts until recently when delivery was meant to start when things went a bit dark (the team doing this seem much less on the ball than the ones doing the design), but I'm sure my dwarves will show up and this is certainly worth a look

EDIT: now this has gone live it's being run via KS (USA) rather than KS (UK)

EDIT: from the latest update from the Titanforge Steampunk dwarves campaign they've made it clear that there is a totally separate team working on this game so it (and the Steampunk Dwarves) will not delay/impact delivery of each other)

I received my dwarfs from their most recent campaign. I will certainly consider this! I don't think they've made a game before (only miniatures) but I'm a sucker for tank combat. Looking forward to seeing this

I'm gonna be on board. Even if it means getting endless gak from my friends.

But it looks cartoony and fun, and has tanks (and furballs). So I'm tentatively in. Will have to see gameplay examples before diving in all the way.

The different tanks are available as add ons ($10 for 4), but it looks like you'd need to get the game to be able to buy them

I've asked via PM if there's any way to avoid this either via the KS or post KS via their website

EDIT:

I've a had a response back

We are considering it but so far it looks like they will [not] be avaliabe after the Kickstarter, sorry.

They said they already had resin casts of the tanks and all, so I can't see why it would be so difficult to make a bunch of them. They even say...

We are primarily a miniature forging company so we designed our boardgame with the aim to feature some interesting models

So whats ze problem? I'm sure people would want to buy them for all sorts of little projects. Unless they didn't want to do that because then people wouldn't get all the cardboard for the game.

Aside from that, this looks like it has a lot of potential for fun, and looking at all the tank models and the silly animal Generals made me smile, (which is pretty much impossible at work, so kudos there).

My only current quibble, is that they just put 8 of the exact same tanks in the game. The Claw is probably the coolest out of the group, but I can't see why we don't have two of each. Unless of course they're just holding out for putting that in a later stretch goal.

Regardless, they'll have my support, as this looks like a lot of fun. I just won't be able to pledge until next week's paycheck. But pledge I shall.

For now, I watch!

Are the actual game miniatures resin (cast by them in-house like their miniatures) or are they going to be made by the company making the rest of the gaming components? I didn't see where that was spelled out, it seemed possible they'd all be made in China / pvc board game pieces. If the tanks were resin, a tank-only pledge would be more tempting, as right now this doesn't really interest me.

Will there be the possibility of an octopus/squid themed character? I'm on the fence atm, but if there was one... I'm all aboard.

I'm with you on the Cephalapod themed character, that would be awesome.

They have an expected shipping price at the bottom of the Kickstarter. But for the lazy...

EU - $8-$15
US & Canada - $11-$17
Asia - $15-$25
Rest of the world - $25+

I can't help with the squid question,

but the postage question is answered at the bottom of the front page (so $15 or less)

Here is the list of estimated prices: Your shipping will never cost more than the maximum price stated here.

EU - $8-$15
US & Canada - $11-$17
Asia - $15-$25
Rest of the world - $25+

this is all they say on materials

Most miniatures below have been already 3d printed and cast in resin to ensure they are detailed and fit well into the board. The models you will find in the final version will maintain the same level of precision and will be made from high quality, non-toxic materials.

so my guess is it's a deliberate fudge. (plus the not thinking the tanks would be available separately post KS)

Board gamers might run from the use of the word resin (what's that, it sounds complicated), and plastic (of whatever sort) requires a big order

MY SPECULATION: by keeping it vague they can go with resin if they don't get enough orders, but the hope is for it to be plastic

(but I could of course be wrong: their initial print run seems only to be 500 copies, half to early birds, half for the German Essen toyfair in October which is both very close in terms of getting plastic done, and very few copies for a run with original plastic in it)

Just by the brightness of the colors, I imagine they will be plastic. I'm sure you can get resin in similar shades and whatnot, but it just screams plastic to me.

Which isn't awful, I mean Rivet Wars is a lot of fun after all.

But for the more... I dunno, 'Hardcore' crowd? They'll want resin. They DID say that the 3D buildings are Resin, soooo... nothing solid. Shoot em' an email or something.

Looks like we're sitting right at $14,000, which means the Resin Buildings and the Cards unlocked. (They really need to update their Kickstarter). >.<

I don't understand the Card thing. At all. I figured that all of the animals would already have all the cards they needed? What exactly did we just unlock?

NEED CLARIFICATION.

...at least we're almost to the point of unlocking the mixed tanks.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Aaaaaand we've now hit $15,000!

So ze tanks now get mixed up a little. And we get... another set of cards that I thought we were supposed to get already.

I really wish they'd explain them better.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay! So apparently, any of the Card Unlocks are in addition to the Animal/Generals you're already getting in the box. So at the current level you get 27 Animal Cards and 54 Skill Cards.

The next one will bump that to 30 and 60 respectively.

Well that's good. I was getting nervous there.

I'm pretty sure most if not all of Titan Forge are Polish (the company started there, and does it's resin casting there)

so it could be a language issue in part that makes it little confusing (or the local English speaking rep has to wait for the company owners to get back to him before he can do anything)

but they certainly make excellent minis

Update #4 Jul 24 2014

6 New Armymals!

Hello everyone, thanks for continuous support. After your great response to our project we are working everyday to bring you the best product we can make. We are also here to answer all your questions - just write us a message.

Now back to the good part - We have passed some stretch goals, which are milestones for our campaign. Thanks to you, instead of the base 24 animals the full version of the game will have 30 handsome Armymals. Each stretch goal brought 3 new and exciting conteders to this Iron Fur Tournament. Those stretch goals will also allow us to extended the number of action and mission cards and will make the game a longer lasting experience with more different scenarios. Thanks!

Each box contains 8 tank models. Current roster with colors is presented below in the "In the Box" section. Purchasing specific add-on grants 4 more tanks. Each can be used to replace another tank from the box in the same color. Find a mix that suits you best and order your customized squadron by picking one of the add-ons today.

In the other news, we have decided to overhaul our gameplay video a bit, so it is still ~2 more days until it is ready.
The print and play version is right around the corner, though. We are polishing last tokens and will be posting the PnP tomorrow, so save some time this weekend to check out the Armymals boardgame.
Considering the seargant level backers requests we will be implementing an add-on containing a copy of all Kickstarter stretch-goal bonuses.

We will be back with more!

Be interested to see the gameplay video, just to get a better feel for the game, though I'm liking it so far having read the rules.

I'm also stoked that Narwhaleon Bonaparte got included in the list - that was my favourite option on the name list they had

Ah, they have their gameplay Video up:

Looks like a bit of fun. They're also restructuring things in terms of add-ons and pledges - now you get two sets of stretch goal rewards with the sergeant level pledge, and they're changing the colors of the tanks, so that each player has two different tank models in the same color to control, rather than two tanks in completely different colors. Seems like a great idea to me, and the changes they're making show that Titan Forge Games are really willing to respond to ideas that people bring up to them.

Definitely looking forward to this one.

I'm feeling like they shot themselves in the foot with the staggered release schedule. When people heard they could get the game in October(ish) this year, all of those were snatched up immediately.

Now that all the 2014 Pledges are gone, there are the 2015 pledges left, and hence the stagnation. Kinda sucks, but I can see it being frustrating.

At least they were honest about allocating part of the first print run to backers and the rest to Essen (big German toy/games show for those that don't know)

considering all the bile that ends up thrown at all the US based KS projects when they rush off to Gencon to sell stuff (without asking in many cases)

but I fear you're right that having to wait longer for a second run does seem to have killed the pledging dead

which is a bit odd, as from what I read the eventual retail game is not going to have much of the KS bling as looks to be all cardboard

so if you want the game getting the fancy KS version still seems like a good deal even with the extra wait (and it will not suffer from any panic to get stuff finished for Essen which the early version might)

Titan Forge Games is a miniatures company primarily, so they'll definitely want to get the models in there I think - I would be surprised if they didn't have the basic set stuff (Strategic locations, trees, rocks and tanks) as physical models in the retail game.

Update #9 Aug 9 2014

New stretch goals unlocked / Q-Workshop dice

Hello everyone,

We are still in Serbia on ETC. We could not answer all your questions in the past few days but we have some great news anyways!

Armymals is a dice game in its core and we want the dice to look and feel great. This is why we will be rolling with Q-Workshop. They are experienced dice producers with world renown. They worked with many great titles: Arkham Horror, Call of Cthulu, Warmachine, Hordes, Legend of the Five Rings, Dragon Age and more. Soon the Armymals will join that impressive list! You can visit their website to learn more about them but all you really need to know is that the Armymals will have beautiful dice, appreciated by the players all over the world.

Q-Workshop

We've got more. Now that we are reaching the end of the campaign we are a bit down that the amount of backers is not steadily increasing. We understand how important stretch-goals and interesting game improvements are importatnt for every backer so we have a gift to everyone who stayed with us! All stretch goals up to 30,000$ are now unlocked! The tank wars 2.0, additional cards, active acorns and steal the general mode with beaver models will be included in every box.

After coming back to the office soon we will also show you the new 30,000$ stretch-goal. We might be able to stick in some more goodies, we are definitely not done yet. We have heared suggestions that maybe a do-over of the campaign would be more profitable but it will not happen. We are all about the Armymals and making them reality. Thank you for all the suggestions that emerged during the Kickstarter, we were able to implement many of them. Some others we are excited about but there just is not enough time. We have started this campaign with a game in a pretty advanced state and as you know we want it to be ready really soon. This is our first boardgame on KS and we have many ideas and solutions that will help us make the next projects even bigger. We hope that Armymals will make a big roar and you will check out our future games.

We will be back in Poland in 2 days and answer all question we could not due to the trip. Sorry for the delay, we will back with you soon.. ETC in Serbia is awesome btw, we have met many of our supporters and are almost out of miniatures for sale .

Final Day, so get backing if you're interested

Update #11 Aug 15 2014

The time has come!

Hello everyone!
Today we are corresponding live from the Armymals headquarters to bring you the most current and accurate news.

Bonus List
We are on a clock here so lets stay sharp. First of all we want you all to see what your contribution in this Kickstarter brought to the game.

We are really excited to bring you more miniatures. This is what we are good at and we expect the full set up game to look beautiful, colorful and rich. While miniatures take care of the visual side we think that additional cards and game modes from the stretches are really important too. Apart from the looks we have got an entertaining gameplay and all those improvements add to the replay value, amount of card interactions and satisfaction from duels.

Animale Generale
The final version of the Armymals will have 33 Animal Commander. The idea of those furry warheroes was one of the first things that brought this game to life. We are very proud that the game will have so many of them and we are always amazed by the images prepared by the graphic designer. The final selection from all the Generals including the ones you sent to us looks like this.

1. Abrahamster Lincoln
2. Genghis Khen
3. Braveherd
4. Sir Francis Drake
5. Themistoxles
6. Sparrotacus
7. King Anthu
8. Jaguarus Caesar

Conference Room
We have some charts prepared by the beaver strategists that will help you out with finalizing your pledge decisions.

What to get?
1. To play the basic version you need 1 box (private level)
2. To play the basic version with tank wars 2.0 (additional rules for different tanks) you need 1 box and a tankmix addon
3. To play the basic version with Mechasquirrel Module (rules/models for 4+ players) you need 2 boxes (sergeant level)
4. To play the basic version with Mechasquirrel Module and tank wars 2.0 you need 2 boxes and at least 1 tankmix addon (1 tankmix addon will be enough for games up to 5 players. However, in games with 6-8 players, getting 2 tankmix addons guarantees that every player will get a team consisting models he or she desires).

Color clarification
Player 1 – tanks - RED
Player 2 – tanks - BLUE
Player 3 - tanks - GREEN
Player 4 - tanks - YELLOW
Player 5 - tanks - RED hull/GREEN turret
Player 6 - tanks - BLUE hull/YELLOW turret
Player 7- mechasquirrrel - GREY
Player 8 - mechasquirrel - BROWN
To create tank teams for players 5 and 6 you will need all models from the second box.

Epilogue
And so ends our adventure on Kickstarter. We would like to take a moment to thank every one of you. This campaign would not be the same without all the people that joined, stuck with us through the updates, posted comments and wrote messages. Your interest helped us made the game more consistent, your suggestions made it to the final product and your packages will have the exclusive Kickstarter miniatures as our thanks. But this is not the end of our partnership. We still have the games to send you, we will update you on our progress and invite you to join the PLAY2014 with us. There are some future projects awaiting too, we hope that you will enjoy the Armymals and help us when we decide to release more products, we can shed some light that the next game is a bit more mature and forces players to cooperate in a disturbing environment. Meanwhile, keep looking out for the updates, the production proccess has started already, it is done locally and everything seems to line up smoothly. We cannot wait to bring you the finished Armymals and we are actually pretty excited to play the full version, with quality miniatures, cards, board and models as well! This is why you can be sure that we will do it the best we can. See you soon!
