Inspired by the Zvesda releases thread. What are the top five models you'd like to see as plastic 1:100 kits from any of the current crop of manufacturers (Battlefront, Minairons, Plastic Soldier Company, Zvesda) and why.

1= M3A1 'White' Scout Cars.
Suddenly makes a Razvedki company (or even a platoon) a viable purchase, also multiple uses for command vehicles in soviet forces.

2= Sdkfz 250/1Ds (with options for 250/9s)
Tons of fill in uses for command, recon platoons, spotters and such. Also makes armoured Aufklarungs companies cheaper.

3= Generic stowage.
Need I explain?

4= T-28s
Cheap early war soviet tank force (with Zvesda's other offerings filling in the army, T-35s, T-26s etc).

5= T34/85Ms
Six Day War tank horde.

+1 for scout cars. The biggest barrier to entry, for me at least, of running a mech list has always been that whatever army I'm using is guaranteed to cost an extra $150 or so for transports. The fact that all of the allied majors use the same scout car (unlike Shermans) makes this especially low hanging fruit for a plastic kit.

Are we talking about kits or just plastic minis in general? If the latter, plastic M3A1 Scout cars are available in Axis & Allies: Counter Offensive. They're generally $3 for singles.

2. Daimler I armoured cars w/ Daimler Dingo scout car

Dingos are also in the Counter Offensive set. Can buy them for $1 each

From what I've heard the scale of Axis & Allies are not consistent. I'd prefer an actual 1/100 scale kit.

I've heard similar but I'd like to see some comparison photos if anyone has some. Where price is the factor for people desiring plastics some choices are quite cheap in resin, Hetzers and Universal Carriers spring to mind (£19.50 and £9.75 for four from FiB).

That was all the Version 1 sets. The vehicles and infantry in Version 2 sets are 15mm and are as follows:

Axis and Allies: '39-45
North Africa
Eastern Front
Early War
Counter Offensive

The A&A air combat sets (Bandits High, Angels 20) are also all 15mm.

I've used their Unic P107s & Panhard Armoured Cars for my EW French, Marder IIIm for my MW/LW Heer, and even converted an Italian M13/40 tank into a Quar assault gun. Considering it's an entire unit of 4 TDs that cost me under $15 shipped, I'd say the Marders are one of my favorite A&A minis. The pic below is basically stock, except for the addition of BF crew, netting, and a repaint:

I'd still rather have actual kits than repainting 'clix'.

This is true, when it comes to tanks plastic is clearly a cheaper choice but for transport and utility vehicles which are already quite cheap to make in resin, plastic may not actually represent a saving.For example FIB sell Bren Gun carriers at less than £10 for 4. I'm not sure if PSC will be able to beat that price. Not to mention that smaller vehicles will be fiddly to assemble in plastic, whereas the FIB resin Bren Gun characters are ready to go. You just have to glue in the crewmen.

Same with Trucks, you can get cheap trucks from Zvezda for about £3 each, but you can get resin ones from FIB at 3 for £9.75 (or less if you go via a 3rd party re-seller) which works out only about 20p more per truck, which is worth it just to not have to assemble the things.

I'd rather PSC stuck to tanks, assault guns, tank destroyers, half tracks and other things where plastic can offer real tangible savings to gamers.

Ah... But PSC make kits for 20mm gamers too...

For them, cheap plastic trucks are popular.

The 15mm Loyd and 6 pounder is underway, with a 'new' style crew to match the 15mm British box set.

The 15mm bren is likely to be redesigned from the 20mm version to ease the build and 'may' come in a set with British heavy weapons. Still discussion ongoing on that.

Hetzer will follow the 38t\Marder set with other late war Marder options.

Telling us that trucks are popular in 20mm is a little like telling us that Space Marines are popular in 40k. Neither is particularly relevant to the needs of 15mm gamers.

I 100% agree with what LuciusAR wrote.

Well it is if you want more 15mm kits.

More sales equals more kits.

So if 20mm plastic trucks sell well, that's more funds that can be ploughed into new designs.

Its evidently relevant to the needs to PSC though given that the Battlegroup series of games are sort of published by PSC.

I would buy trucks from PSC,especially if they are style like the Bf High end ones(2 for 20$) ,where you may revome the bed canvasand cab ,So you may convert them over.Also one big one for trucks would be a kit to convert over some to the GErman 1/2 track style.Zvezdas are ok,but the plastic is a bit flimsey. Also i got two more things to add to the plastic wish list,Royal Commandos(BF is the only maker of them)and Water Buffalos, would be cool since both the UK and USA used them.
I would love to have a Royal MArine Commando force.

I'm thinking WW1 tanks and other stuff. I was actually kind of interested in the WW1 version of FOW until the prices of the metal and resin murdered my enthusiasm for it.

greatcoat infantry for Americans would be great too, but preferably in 28mm.

A US Cavalry Recon group in plastic would be nice. You need 9 of them to fully fill out a Cavalry Recon unit (18 jeeps and 9 M8 Greyhounds), which should take care of the volume quite nicely. And the Battlefront store has them listed for $23 each, which is a bit steep, imo.

US recon forces changed during mid- to late-war. Perhaps if they could fit two Jeeps, two M3A1 scout cars and the M8 Greyhound all on a single frame...

Well, the M3A1 already got mentioned multiple times up above...

The Late War "two jeeps, one Greyhound" configuration is already a Battlefront boxed release, which is why I singled it out. Switching over to a set with three plastic Greyhounds would also work reasonably well - and have the added advantage of being friendlier to lists that are built using the alternate Late War configuration (i.e. two jeeps, two cars). Resin jeeps can already be purchase in bulk, so filling out the rest of the unit wouldn't be a problem.

Just thinking out loud, trying to see how much they can fit on a sprue to make it a desirable purchase to as many players as possible.

Here, is something funny,The Bf forums ripped us off and started to do this with BF plastic..i guess it is true that Bf is imitadiating PSc or at least copying us.
i do hate to say this,No one added a BF plastic list.but all good.I prefer psc plastic anyways.

Ripped off? I wasn't aware that this was a PSC-specific thread...

And was the thread on the FoW forums started by a random poster, or by a company rep?

It was a thread started by a random poster. Here is the original post:

Joewrightgm wrote:Plastic Utility vehicles: an easy Battlefront win?

So I was thinking: most armies have that 1 or 2 vehicles that are just dirt common (jeeps, microwaves, I'm looking at you!).

So thinking about it, and the fact that I'm not a big fan of mixed resin and metal medium models, how easy would it be for battlefront to do some simple utility vehicles that are common and easily accessible to most armies, would this make sense for them to do?

Thoughts?

It evolved into a wishlist thread.

The biggest tank in the picture. I want a model of it in 1/00 scale so it can decent detail without being the size of my work desk and costing £300+.
