Hello everyone!
I just saved from the dust my old bretonnian army, and i was wondering how i could field it again in the 8th (i stopped playing just after the 6th!).
So, after a short research i made this:

note: i'm not trying to make a tournament army, just an enjoyable one who doesn't get hammered before mid-game

Lords:

Bretonnian lord, questing vow, shield, Sword of the quest, Obsidian Trinket, Virtue of the impetuous Knight

Prophetess of the Lady, Bretonnian Horse, Lvl 3, Silver mirror

So a defensive Lord Wizard and a rounded lord, who ignores armors and gives +d6" on charges

Heroes:

Damsel of the lady, Dispel Scroll, Lvl 1

BSB Paladin, Banner of defense, Questing vow

To keep my knights alive after fire.

Core Troops:

Knights Of the realm (10x), full command

Knights Of the realm (10x), full command, Banner of Swiftness

Peasant Bowmen (12x)

Special units

Pegasus Knights (3x), Champion

Questing Knights, Champion and standard Bearer

well i just like them!

Rare Troops

Trebuchet

Grail Knights (6x), musician, Standard Bearer with lichebone pennant

The idea is to hold the flanks with the grails and the questings, while my main force charges a softened enemy (thanks to the damsel/prophetess, archers)

Tell me what do you think (especially about the 8th' synergies, since i haven't mastered the new rules yet!)

Thanks!

It looks pretty good to a non-bretonian player except 12 bowmen wont do much if anything so try dropping them and finding points for a second treb.

They will help screen for your treb but i wouldnt count on them doing much more then 4-5 wounds the entire game. They are good bunkers and screeners but as far as damage output they are still bs3? str3 and 24" range right? so they wont have too many rounds shooting at any one target, they will hit most of the time on 5's so 3-4 hits per shooting and ~2 wounds assuming they have any kind of armor 1 dead model a shooting phase. Just off the top of my head for t3 chaff/warmachine hunters. Could be better could be worse.

Other bret players may know better but I think you might be able to free up points by removing a unit of knights. I would consider dropping a unit of KOTR and beefing up your grail or questing knights to 9-12 and add your characters for a super deathstar. That gives you 3 knight busses, a unit of peg knights (which might be able to be bumped to 4) and the free points for bowmen screeners for your trebs. From what i have seen brets really rely on blowing up blocks on the charge so they put big holes in battle lines riding right through. Another thing to consider is downgrading one unit of KOTR to knights errant with the erranty banner to make them viable.

That's interesting, in fact in most of the game i've seen so far in my club (where i play 40k) roughly all of the armies employ some klind of deathstar units!

By the way, i just remembered that the bowmen have longbows, so maybe 30" isn't that bad..what if i drop one KOTR unit, pump the other one up to the minimum requirements and stuff the rest of the points in bowmen and realms?

What do you think? the errant knights are a strength 6 charging unit, and with a carefully deployment i could use it to take down big stuff.

I think 6 is too small for your knights, all of them. I would have lance formations of at least 9 models no less.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

If you're going for errants, go big or go home. 12 with the character wall. The knights themselves don't fight very well, and aren't very tough. Most Bret players prefer KoTR for that reason.

As for The Lord, I'd take the virtue of heroism. Give him the sword of swift slaying + enchanted shield + dawnstone + the virtue and most things will be afraid of him.

Otherwise, lores need to be stated in your list.

Malifaux masters owned: Guild(Sans McCabe), Outcasts(Sans Misaki), Arcanists(Sans Marcus)

They are viable with the errantry banner. Gives them that boost they need

They still need the character wall and a large unit. That's the thing brets do best.

So i should add one more paladin?

about the lord, if i recall right the virtue of heroism only works with non-magical weapons!

About the lores i was thinking with the lore of beasts for damsel and the lore of life for the prophetess in the big KOTR unit.

About the unit size, i'm worried that 12+3 characters unit means 5 ranks cavalry: in't that too deep to be moved around?

Virtue of heroism now works with magic weapons. The FAQ simply says this vow now gives you HKB. No stipulations. Which is why MOST people take it on their lord.
