Hi guys,

I know this gets asked a lot on Dakka but if you were asked to pick who you think is the most powerful army overall who would it be and why?
It's part of a social experiment (of a sort).

My opinion is Eldar. They seem to have the best options for every kind of style and I can't honestly say I've seen many elder armies lose.
I think they are so varied with so many options and some really good unique factors that makes them so versatile.

What is your opinion?

This a 2 part poll, the second part will follow after some votes (a few days)

Eldar are pretty cheesy.

Sekhmet - Dynasty 4000pts Greenwing - 2000pts Deathguard - 1500pts Daemons of Nurgle - 1000pts ~320pts

I vote Eldar as well. As a Tau player I'm expecting a lot of votes for my army, and they wouldn't be undeserved, but Tau are really only good in one phase of the game, shooting phase. We can do movement reasonably well too if you build your list for it, but most people don't for whatever reason. We have shooting locked down quite well, but it's still about the only thing we have. One bad shooting phase (target selection or positioning derp, reserves fail to show up, or just bad dice rolls) and our chances of winning go down immensely.

Eldar on the other hand, they can rock the movement phase, psychic phase, shooting phase, and (from what I can tell) have at least decent assault options as well. The "better than you at everything" factor puts them up pretty high in the rankings.

Eldar. Good shooting, good CC, good psychic ability and on top of all that they get special rules like Battle Focus, Bladestorm and D-weapons. Can your army do one thing well? They can probably do it too.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Tau, for sheer volume of firepower.

Plus the riptide. Enough said!

I'm surprised no one has said daemons because of daemon factory. Are they not as much of a thing any more?

wow, it's not even close. Eldar by a landslide, I thought it would be a tie between them and tau.

I'm not surprised entirely. I am a little shocked that Daemons aren't more prominent. I dont think Tau are overall overly powerful, I think they have a lot of strength in some areas but lack distinctly in others. I do however acknowledge they are high up on the list or powerful armies as they are really good in the main bit of the game.

I had hoped for more votes to support the second part of this poll.

Summoning lists work only against armies which don't have psyker protection and their FMC took a huge hard with the rules changes. Right now a tyranid+formation FMC army is much better then a demon one.

Eldar without contention.

Tau never were as strong as Eldar, and Tau took hits moving to 7h whereas Eldar just as strong as ever.
