I recently bought 5 Chaos Havocs and well... I've rarely seen quality this bad. I'm probably gonna ditch them and replace them with something else, so I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the ForgeWorld MKIV minis, quality and painting-wise?

Yep. I don't buy stuff from FW anymore due to the laughable quality of their products.

Theyve all been pretty good quality. IF theyre that bad - call them. They have the occ QC issues (especially when things are crazy popular, like the HH armour marks) whcih they do appreciate knowing about.

They generally send you replacements the next day.

Do some research absolut the quality of the mould, on the product you're buying, sometimes it's a horrible mould that's known to be in poor quality and warps a lot, like the old hydra kit fx. I've bought a lot of models on FW and almost never had any bad experiences with them.

Edit: Although I'm fond of their quality, they do seem to have a habbit of forgetting some parts, in which case they usually are quite good at sending you the mission parts.

Ive had one bad thing and about five great things from them.

I rang up about the one bad thing and they sent me a replacement, didn't even ask to see pictures of it or anything.

Can't really fault them at all for their customer service. If the quality's bad, give them a call.

Same. In fact the only time theyve asked for the item was for one of the first macharius Vulcans, where the lower hull looked like a blowtorch had been applied. They asked for it back and promised to hit the Q.C. guys around the head with it - sent a special delivery (next day, before noon, expensive delivery) bag for it, along with an entire replacement tank. Anyone had any luck getting a replacement product via email? Calling is a pretty expensive way to do it when you live on the other side of the world. (This is just out of curiousity; my first and only FW purchase is still in the mail).

You know that a company does a terrible job when recasts come at a higher quality than the genuine models.

Yes, they are significantly better with email than previously, its just talking to them can be quite helpful, you realise how nice they are

Right, I didn't ask about the customer service, but thanks anyway!

Does anyone have any actual experience with MKIV, Legion MKIV or MKV?

I've only seen one squad of each power armor mark (bought for mix n match to make armor more personalized) but they were all excellent quality. I've never seen infantry with casting issues. It mostly seems to be large flat slabs from vehicle kits that have QC issues.

I've never had a problem but my friend had a miscast Spartan, he rang them gave a description over the phone and they sent him another one no questions asked. We both had a bash at salvaging the miscast one but it was to badly damaged.

I don't know about the MkIV, but my MkII and MkIII armor have less mold lines than GW plastics. No problems there.

Brilliant!

It seems the general consensus is they're safe!

They're safe, awesome models to paint, and if there is anything wrong they're bloody awesome at getting it sorted

Yeah, but you might have just gotten a bad cast. Call customer service and get a good one. Problem solved.

Got one of the Legion Mk IV heavy weapon squads about a week ago and they're great quality, no miscasts and only a small amount of flash on one of the arms.

Resin moulds are very very short lived, so it's really luck of the draw whether you get a casting from a fresh mould or a worn out one.

I've gotten Mk IV armor in the past a la Red Scorpions and everything I received was of good quality. It's also just about as easy as any other GW marine model to paint in my experience.

Who are you with that it costs a lot to call the UK? It costs me much the same to call a mobile within Australia as it does to call the UK, our local prices are pretty bad. You can also put a few dollars on Skype, they have very cheap calls to the UK. I have family in the UK I occasionally call via Skype.

About 12 years ago when you could still order stuff from GW from the UK to Australia I ordered something and had a problem and had to call them, even back then it didn't really cost much.

Only fault I find is that they don't check whether the replacements are also faulty. And I hate the plastic bags. Too often stuff breaks.

I have 10mkIV, 20MKIII, and 10MKII and the MKIV were the only ones I had priblems with. They had missing spots around the waste and very thin belt/waistline. The MK2/3 were all almost perfect.
