What are the best steps to improve this list? I can certainly make room for points (drop a predator would save me something like 115, and then drop one of the Thousand Sons would save me quite a few points and also put a fluffy number of 9 in my transport)
HQ
Chaos Sorcerer
Additional Mastery Level
Spell Familiar
Aura of Dark Glory
Combi-Melta
Troops
Thousand Sons
Four Additional Thousand Sons
Combi-Melta
Rhino Dedicated Transpots w/ Dirgecaster
Chaos Space Marines
Flamer
Chaos Cultists
Ten Additional Chaos Cultists
Heavy Stubbers
Fast Attack
Heldrake
Heavy
Chaos Predator
Lasconnon Sponsons
Chaos Predator
Lasconnon Sponsons
It comes out to something like 997 points.
Altogether, I have a squad of 9 Thousand Sons and a Sorc in a rhino, a squad of 5 Chaos Space Marines, a squad of 20 Chaos Cultists, a Heldrake, and two Chaos Predators.
The list seems very off to me but I'm not sure what is best for it. I haven't really played since the very, very beginning of 5th edition (it came out right before I quit) and I have no idea what is currently "good." I'm thinking I might need way less AT.

I love dirge casters, but you dont have any assault units?
You seem to have a good amount of stuff for 1k.
I would not bother with a mark of tzeentch and just take the sons as an elite choice.
Give the marines the rhino and have the sorceror with them. Give the sorceror the burning brand.
You can ditch the heavy stubbers for more points, cultists dont kill stuff, unless they rush forward in a big mob.

Agree. If you're only taking a single unit of TS, it's not worth giving that sorcerer MoTz because it drops him a level basically since the Tzeentch powers are just awful.
Don't worry about AoDG on the HQ. If he's taking wounds, it's over anyway. 3+/5+ won't save him.
Cultists don't need stubbers, agree there.
The 5man CSM unit is fine. Put the sorcerer there and fire Psychic Shriek from the hatch
It's great that you take 2 Predators. They are best when used in pairs.

Nice list, though I disagree about the MoT, having the TS as troops is rock solid with their 3+/4+ fearless, and as for tzeentch powers, don't worry, most of the times you won't have enough power dice to cast more then 1 each turn.

i disagree on the Tzeentch powers. I messed around with a Tzeentch list the other day and i learned 2 things. 1. TKsons are still bad if you have more than 2 squads of them even with daemon allies backing you up. 2. Tzeentch powers can hurt.
i wouldn't take all Tzeentch powers but chaos focus gives you 2 of them and 2 other powers. Gives you some really nice blasting power (as long as you don't roll a 1-2 for your power) and utility with TK or Telepathy Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh also, no on the AT. Tanks are making a come back in 7th. More AT is never bad. I've swapped all my plasma with melta. I feel like the 5 CSM don't really have a place. They'll die to whatever is thrown at them. Maybe pull them out for some daemons. I don't have points in front of me, but the power of Tzeentch right now is in daemon summoning.

I'm surprised you get anything out of the Primaris. I consider it a waste of time and have never seen any quality damage come from it.

I got a drop pod to the face and the sternguard inside too out 4 TKsons. I was running ahriman so that might have helped. In one psychic phase he took out a vindicator and 5 sternguard. Sure, I had decent die rolls but I'll never under estimate ahriman and tzeentch powers again.

If we are sharing stories, Once Ahriman took out 10 Astra Militarum Storm troopers or vets or whatever they're called with a single psychic shriek! Rolled an 18. My opponent immediately surrendered after that
