So I'm going to start Empire. I bought a few things already but I want to make sure my list isn't garbage before I buy the rest of it. I really want a Cavalry army backed up by warmachines.

Battle Wizard Lord
-Pegasus
-Dispell Scroll
- Talisman of Preservation
- Lore of Life

Captain of the Empire
-Warhorse, Barded, Full Plate, Shield, Lance
- BSB with Steel Standard

Warrior Priest
- Warhorse, Barded, Heavy Armor, GW
- Helm of the Skavenslayer, Ring of Volans (probably roll on Beast or Heavens)

15 Knightly Orders Inner Circle
-FOC

Great Cannon

Great Cannon

Steam Tank

Total Comes out to 1499. The cannons and Steam Tank blast from long range to weaken the enemy while the knights get ready for the charge. The wizard flies around providing support, casting regrowth to heal the tank and knights or dwellers to smash enemy hordes (in the ideal world). I know my greatest weakness is a way to deal with big blocks of enemies which will probably be steadfast against the knights. The counter would then be to get my own big block of Halberdiers but I really want to have an almost all mounted army.

Going up to 2K I was probably going to Add 2 groups of 3 Demigryphs and a lumanark.

Thanks!

Well I don't have to much to say as I don't play empire myself but I have played against them quite frequently and I would suggest bringing a hellblaster or 2 with an engineer.

They can be super devastating while the rerolls with the engineer make them extremely effective.

Having really only 1 big block of knights will probably be a downfall. You are putting all your eggs in one basket so to speak. If you get flanked (which you probably will with only 1 big unit) then you'll lose big time.
Just take some cheapo halberdiers or spearmen you need to be able to spend the enemy out a little because if you only have 2 things for him to attack the knights and tank (the enemy probably won't go for the cannons or pegasus) then that means he will have an easier time killing you if he has lots of units to over welm you.

Just something to think about, since I don't play empire I'd take my advice with a grain of salt (but hellblasters are the bees knees)

You're gonna have trouble if you come up against anything S5 or better. You'd darn well better break whatever you charge with all those Knights, though steadfast will make that difficult. Consider a mortar instead of one of the cannons to help thin out big blocks. And I wouldn't be afraid to crash that Tank into something if you need to.

Thank you for the insight Chief and Manfred. I think I might switch my Battle Wizard lord from life to either death or shadow. This should allow the wizard to take off and do is own thing instead of being tied down to the knight block. That and life also has a few spells that require the wizard to be in the unit which defeats the purpose of the Pegasus' mobility. I'll take either life or Heavens on the Ring of Volans which will be on the Warrior Priest and use that to support the knights.

I'll probably switch the captain to be on a Pegasus too. Then he can also go off to clear chaff, flank charge, warmachine hunt, pick up the honeys, etc.

I've heard a lot about how great hellblasters can be so I'm looking into finding a place for them. Maybe if the steam tank doesn't work then I'll easily have enough for 2 hellblasters.

Revised list looks like:

Battle Wizard Lord - lvl4
Dispell Scroll, Talisman of Preservation
Pegasus
Lore of Death

Captain
Pegasus
Full Plate, Enchanted Shield, Lance

Warrior Priest
Warhorse, Barding, GW, Heavy Armor, Dragon Helm, Ring of Volans

15 Knightly Order Inner Circle
FOC, Steel Standard

Great Cannon
Great Cannon
Steam Tank

I'd also consider ditching the Ring in favor of the Crown of Command. After the charge, those Knights aren't going to be killing nearly as much, and being stubborn will make a HUGE difference when you inevitably start to lose combats.

I think the list is reasonable but there are a couple of problems:

1. A wizard on a pegasus is asking to get shot and killed. A 6+/4++ is not going to save him. Something that does enough Str.4 hits like even a simple Fireball spell will put him down. I would get this guy in a unit for protection and then run out if you want to cast something rather than use the pegasus.

2. I think you might run into trouble with just the one combat unit. Your big unit of knights is fairly easy to redirect with chaff and you have nothing that can prevent this. Sure you have cannons but they at most will kill 2 guys out of a unit of re-directors per turn. This could get you in trouble.

I do really think that all-cav. Empire is a great list. I just think you need to tinker with it a bit. At this points level I would split up the core unit of knights into several smaller ones and ditch the priest. I would put the wizard on a horse in one of your units and then have a captain or 2 on pegasi with at least a 1++ (don't need much else) to get stuck into the enemy and cause problems.

I think I was too in love with the warrior priest and getting all those buffs on my knight unit. Dropping the warrior priest and some inner circle knights gave me enough points for another group of knights.

The list as it stands now

Battle Wizard Lord - Lvl 4 with Life
Warhorse, barding, Dispell Scroll, Obsidian Amulet

Captain on a Pegasus
Full plate, Lance, Shield, Dragonhelm, Potion of Foolhardiness, Dawnstone

10 Inner Circle Knights
FOC, Steel Standard

10 Knightly Order
FOC

Great Cannon
Great Cannon
Steam Cannon

I would take bathazar gelt instead of a wizard lord, he gets a 3++ from shooting +1 for each enemy caster, fancy a 2++?
He also knows all metal spells making him multi purpose and already comes with a Pegasus, plus he casts at +6 instead of +4.

Also you will never have to drop the stank, it is great at everything throw on top a 1+ save.

For knights I would take MSU of knights around 5x2 so you can hold up their units and get flank charges with the other knights or stank.

Lastly you don't need full command, just a musician, and for your captian drop him for a warrior prist for 2 reasons, #1 he generates power dice #2 he gives hatred and flaming attacks.
