This is my first attempt at a high elves list, im starting the army and want to get a basic list down before i buy more models. Im going for competitive level atm. I would really like imput on the list, I would also like peoples suggestions for spells to take with teclis and the lvl2, I was debating life on the lvl 2.

I havnt quite decided if I want to put teclis in the PG or the archers, the lvl 2 will be with the archers for sure. Caradryan and the noble will go with the PG

Teclis
Mage - lvl2, dispell scroll

Noble - bsb, rzr standard, halberd, dragon armour
Caradryan

Archers x17 - Musician
Silverhelms x9 - Shields, FC
Reavers x5 - +bows, Musician
Reavers x5 - +bows, Musician

Swordmasters x21 - FC, BOTWD
Phoenix Guard x28 - FC

Swap the swordsmasters to white lions. And swap teclis out for a normal level 4 with the book of hoeth and a 5+ ward.

Give the BSB the enchanted shield, and the 4+ ward. Best build out there.

Swap the eagles into solos. The third will give you more points to play with.

Think of the pain from teclis though!! haha occams and purple sun, he can take the miscast protection in light i think it is, maybe life, cant remember. and just bombard units! How come you think i should go arch mage instead? just cheaper? having 2 dispells is really good too! dominate the first 2 magic phases

How come white lions vs swords? arent the swordmasters the strongest ? Im quite new, this is my first fantasy army.

Would that mean the bsb cannot have the magic banner? will the phoenix guard be able to do enough without the razor?

Teclis is T2, with no bonuses to casting, and has no saves of any kind. That archmage will have a ward save versus his miscasts, and gets to reroll one dice from every cast and dispel. That's going to go a long way, further than Teclis can take you.

As for white lions, they're S6 versus swordsmaster's S5. They've got a 3+ against shooting, as opposed to the 5+/6++, and most importantly, white lions are stubborn. Overall, they're better at fighting heavily armoured stuff, whereas swordsmasters fight T3 stuff, which the rest of the book does.

As for the BSB, no. But the Phoenix Guard have a 50 point banner allowance.

Agreed book of hoeth is great, but teclis does get some bonuses.

He has a built in 70pt upgrade that makes him lvl 5, he has like ~50 pts worth of a dispell scroll, he can ignore the first miscast or use it to give him an extra dice on all spells that turn. His unit would likely have a +toughness buff on them as I can pick and choose the best buffs / damage spells from any lores and would also likely have a 2+ save vs miscasting from the life lore.

Im totally with you on the white lions, that is a much better unit for the same price. would you suggest taking the same 21 of them? or more? 7x3? or what? The PG i have will be 6x5

All (non)joking aside. Swapping swordmasters for white lions is a great idea

Also, Book of Hoeth is also extremely broken, so I would suggest using that alongside the BOTWD.

Hah.. I re wrote the list a little bit with no lvl2 but thats almost worth changing it back for.. I missed that little tidbit lol
