i hope moderators will find ok if I open this new thread for AoW news to replace the other one: some of you might know that i very often visit aow hq to play warthrone and arena, and know quite well the team, so i can even pass word to them of any suggestion (like i did with the ltd. bsb). so i'd love to mantain this thread updated with news & rumors from aow. I start a new one so it is possible for me to be updating the thread title with every news and rumor update and so

now to the news!

July new releases are two new characters for cirlea from tow of the new freelance aow sculptors. as I said not long ago, aow is expanding greatly their freelance artists collaborators. very soon we'll see new miniatures from many other sculptors apart from felix

The Tercios of Lusia are feared by all the enemies of Cirlea, because of the great skill of the musketeers that form within these so emblematic regiments of the Cirlean army. A major General of Lusia is the ideal personality to lead your regiments of Tercios of Lusia in battle.

Broadswords regiments are the elite infantry of the armies of Arguntia, and pride of this kingdom located east of Cirlea.
Each of these soldiers is a veteran and noble warrior and a master of combat with the deadly Arguntian broadsword.

All the heroes I've got are metal, pretty nice casts. I'd rather they were proper resin, but eh.

It does look like these are ever so slightly more "heroic" in scale than the existing Cirlea general character, which is good, he's so titchy I'm having to convert him into a female character, which is a shame as the head is fantastic but won't be salvageable

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

Those heroes are amazing!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

While those miniatures are looking really good, I wish that they would rather put the effort into finishing their IndieGoGo campaign that finished over 2+ years ago.

While I agree, these are freelance sculptors and not Felix, and Felix is doing the Dwarves himself, eh?

This is perfect, thanks for volunteering Adder Ant! It's great to have someone connected making the thread (and possibly even passing on suggestions). Your asking them to sculpt the BSB earlier than the rest was really appreciated, and helped ease the backlash they were facing on that particular issue somewhat (although shipping them is still in-progress this far out, I guess?).

I honestly think it's a case of "You don't get one until you ask."

I finally broke down and wrote them a few weeks ago and was told I'll get mine from the next batch.

pointing to felix dakka petitions for the bsb was what it got him finally sculpting it before he had planned.
this friday i am going to aow hq so i'll ask on the state of bsb shipping and post the info

more goodness from aow this time for their apocalypse range for warthrone. an addition that was much expected by apocalypse spanish warthrone players... the marauders of the apocalypse ta chan!!!

another very good news is that Gray Morley is back and to good shape from the looks of this marauders releases!
here's one hoping he sculpts more apocalypse as he's been for a long time a fav sculptor

They look really cool!

I'd be in for these if they weren't the same material as the Warriors of the Apoc. I was really put off creating the 4 boxes of the GW armed ones I got.

it's not the same one. they dropped warcast due to production problems, and switched to pvc injected plastic, same as privateer press for example.
i find pvc very good but still some like pvc, some dont though.

agree aow plastic units take a while to assemble as they come in so many parts, but man do they look fantastic when the job is done (althouhg a long one it is) and you can completely give your touch because of the variability to achive when posing.

btw, these new pvc marauders and the pvc corrupters are 100% compatible so lots of conversion options here! compatibility will also exist with the pvc warriors of apoc when they get their pvc tooling feix told me

Did we hear any news yet how the fullfillment of their dwarven IGG campaign goes? Any projections how many years the project will be dealyed before finally finished entirely and all backers got their rewards?

Those Marauders look great, I've been on the hunt for some decent alternatives to GW's Marauders lately and these are right up my alley.

If anyone is still considering buying the the Corruptors, the TrollTrader currently has a very limited number of both sets available that each include the original pre-order bonuses. Its definitely a better deal than buying them directly from AoW, since you get an extra 8 models per set along with an exclusive metal champion model. The TrollTrader also offers free postage worldwide on all orders over 35 pounds.

I wrote this in the previous thread, I'll write it here too, and I'll keep on writing even if another hundred of threads show up in order to conceal the bad comments made for this company in the previous ones!

First of all they should stop writing plastic and substitute with "PVC pieces", when I hear plastic I want to see GW type of plastic, not restic or any other type. It's misleading and they do it on purpose. The only real plastic AoW has are the Berserkers. The rest is cheap chinese crap.
As for this release, OK, they have done Marauder alternatives. Great, not anything extraordinary as far as sculpting goes (Apoc were better) and nothing special that doesn't already exist, also that's about 2 years late now, most people have bought a bunch of them and there's even another company that has already beaten them to it (and at a much lower price, almost half!). Then again, late is a word attached to these guys, it has been years till anyone ever got their stuff on time (not even close!)

The material is such crap, you can even see it on the pic they uploaded, just look at those flails! the amount of cleaning up will be a pain in the arse, a friend of mine got his apoc warriors (with like 9 months of delay) and they are now just sitting/dumped on his shelf. Perhaps he'll wake up one day and never place an order again, this used to eb agood company and now I think it has reached the limit point. Any forum/blog etc. you visit, everyone speaks of what amajor cluterf*ck this company has become.
Way to go, such excitement was turned in such disappointment, takes effort to fail that much...

As for the (completely) failed IGG campaign, every time I see anything else produced that has nothing to do with the short chaps, it's a big "F*CK YOU" to all their Dwarf backers.

SWM go for 25 euros/20 minis. And the new arrival from AoW goes 35/20 minis. That's 40% less. Plus that is resin, not PVC! Plus the utility box they come in. Plus you actually get these asap instead of waiting for Santa Claus.

But the major plus is this is the only company besides GW that wants to keep on using plastic sprue tooling instead of going to China, so my money is on these guys.

Aha, those. I thought they looked very 2-d/flat in the photos on the SW webstore, so I skipped them when I ordered figures from them last time.

SPOILERED PIC IS OF SHIELDWOLF MINIATURES, NOT AOW
Spoiler:

Your pics look a lot better, though I'm unsure of them because of their hands. I do have to say that I'll be buying the AOW figures as well/regardless, once they're released. I really do like their sculpts.

may i ask the mods to post a link to shieldwolf miniatures instead of posting the pics in the AoW news thread?
it can really misslead readers who might end up thinking the shieldwolf ones are AoW maraudres as well.

thank you

No problem having mentioned the competition but let's not hijack the thread, please.

Personally, I highly prefer AoW's look over Shieldwolf (just my preference) for the marauders. There are also many companies pursuing hard plastic tooling, with threads here in this same section (and of course, many doing PVC).

AoW is undoubtedly very late on their dwarf Kickstarter, and no one should forget it, but it's still nice to get news and Adder Ant has passed on comments from Dakka directly to Felix before! So, let's keep this constructive, please as it is a useful one to have, despite the issues AoW is working through.

I dunno, kinda iffy about this. As has been said before Shieldwolf's offerings looks like a better option (especially for me because i'm starting to hate uber heroic proportions). I haven't seen their barbarian infantry IRL yet, but I've painted the barbarian hero (the last painted one on corgan's spoliered post) and for me the culpt is absolutely good. I'm sure those other barbarians would look better with paintjobs on them.

From my part, no coincidence at all. As other members have stated before, I am very willing to support a good Greek effort in the miniature market. We are speaking of the first and currently only Greek company which do business in this market and I am really happy that they are serious and they give quality products, investing big money and having good prices. This is plainly respect for the customer

By saying this, doesn't mean that I have any issue with AoW, a company which I also have supported in the past and will continue doing, just because I like seeing smaller companies going well in a highly competitive market. You will see no post of mine, being negative or ironic about AoW considering material or delay issues. On the contrary I have mentioned many times the quality of their sculptures. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/472398.page?userfilterid=78350

Regarding my post I just wanted to contribute to the question by Azazelx and give some more information.

My regards to Adder Ant for hsi contribution and all the information he offers to the discussion.

P.S. If the moderator considers that my post is by any means misleading or inappropriate he can accept my apologies and very well completely delete it

PVC is plastic.

I bought their PVC Dwarf rangers and was quite happy with them. 20 awesome detailed models for like $38.

I also have Shieldwolf miniatures' HIPS plastic orcs, which are wonderful, but Shieldwolf's resin barbarians look like flat cast stamped tin miniatures from the 1960's.

Well, on their website it's not $38 but normal offer is 35 euros for 20 Marauders. You can check it out here

For the duration of this offer you can get a special box of 30 Marauders for 35€ (normal sale box will be 20 miniatures) plus a free Marauder Champion. - See more at: http://www.avatars-of-war.com/eng/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&prodcode=pl12-ps&prodname=Marauders+of+the+Apocalypse+with+shields+%2830+miniatures+and+champion+deal%29&mediumcast=plastic&id=118&Itemid=143#sthash.UlOttaMo.dpuf

Not only I did not post pics not to derail the thread, I didn't even mention the name Shieldwolf, I only answered the question made above!

The Greek community is small, everyone here knows Angelos and he's an exceptional guy with deep love for what he is doing. If you want to know, yes, I know him personally but so do another 100+ people here, almost everyone is in Athens. It's the same discussion I assume with you knowing Felix. I find nothing wrong with that. I like a lot of companies and used to be a fanatic over AoW and have purchased directly and indirectly a lot of their stuff. It's not my fault they f*cked up everything the last 3 years.
You want to buy it and/or support them, go right ahead. My money goes to companies that respect me.

And for the comment written "go play in your own playground", all this wouldn't have been triggered if people kept on posting in the same thread and not jump around in new ones in order to avoid the criticism made.
If the mods believe my post is inappropriate, please the mods to erase it. For the record I however believe it is not inapropriate.

I'm pretty sure I got the PVC ones, I got 4 boxes of the corrupter's with the GW and limited edition guy. I just wasn't impressed with the amount of clean up I had to do on every guy. Yeah they are nice models, but the process I went through just to get them under coated mentally pained me.

Okay, everyone has had their say and I will now ask that further discussion of Shieldwolf Miniatures be directed to the appropriate thread:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/604883.page

As I said above, it is fine to mention the competition, but further discussion of Shieldwolf Miniatures would be off-topic to this thread... it has it's own thread! In general, it is considered a bit impolite to do more than just mention a competitor in a different company's thread... so, now that we've had half a page of discussion regarding it, please take it to the appropriate thread. Thanks.

Howie- That's my concern with these, cleanup on small PVC models has been really difficult for me. Some people don't seem to mind it (judgedoug and cincydooley, for instance) but it is the main thing that holds me back. I absolutely love the sculpts, though.
