So I have 100 English pounds and want to start a new army. I've decided that chaos space marines were the best army for me and I need to know your thoughts on what to buy. I went over budget a bit and made up this:

Daemon prince
2x box sets of chaos space marines.
Vindicator

Aww, what happened to Necrons? =[

Oh well. As far as I've heard, Vindicators don't really do much. Their gun is good, but short range (relatively speaking). Daemon Princes are good. Is there a specific god you're looking at using on your stuff?

But on the Vindicator note, I would just invest in Oliterators first. By far one of the best/most versatile Heavy Support options.

It's all about redundancy with the CSM. I'd snag up a second vindicator. Make sure to give those guys Daemonic Possession, CSM have the best Vindicators in the game because of it.

Yeah, I hear ya. I love my Necrons, but I also have Tyranids and just recently started trying out Daemons in 40k, just for fun on the side. =P

I wouldn't go with the vindicator because of its short range for this point level although AV 14 is tough to crack I would rather go with a pred with a twin linked autocannon on top and side sponsons of lascannons or another good choice that I found is to get a HellBrute and give it a plasma cannon and rocket launcher it's just over 100 pts and it kicks butt against infantry or even vehicles if it doesn't get glanced to death

Um, Dark Vengeance Boxed set is pretty hard to beat. Lots o trade bait plus you get REAL cool looking Chosen that, well... they make admirable Chaos Marines if you want.

But as foir the core you have here:

Make sure the Prince can have wings.
I'd probably prefer 3 Obliterators to a Vindicator.

Hold out bait to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and then crush him.

I think the problem you have is that you're a bit too generic. Those three units are sort of, well, not like bread and butter, but more like plain oatmeal. Good for you, perhaps, but kind of mushy.

I think you'd be a bit better off if you more chose a theme and went with that. Take three kinds of units that sort of work in the same way.

Like perhaps a juggerlord, give the CSM MoK, and replace the vindicator with a maulerfiend for a charge in face off-ripping kind of list, or replace the demon prince and vindicator with a lord or sorc with wings or bikes and then throw some raptors or bikes in there. Or consider some god-warriors like replacing CSM with noise marines and the prince/vindi with a terminator lord and some terminators.

Basically, I'd try to give your army a bit more of a theme. Sort of a thing it does well. A certain playstyle. As it is, the choices make an army that seems, well, a little random.

Gameplay-wise, your list is fine, but I would suggest swapping out one of the marine kits for a bunch of cultists because the marine models are awful so you might just die if you have to paint 20 of them.

Pick a theme and run with it. Right now you can do Iron Warriors with some Mauler/Forgefiends and the Evil Techmarine.

Decide on a mark of chaos first and then buy according to that.

Vanilla marines with a rhino and havoc launcher are a must have.

Vind is good too, I would highly recommend oblits as well.

I would echo the statements of those who suggested you pick a theme. This particular CSM codex seems to work best when you make a list to do one thing really well. CSM units have a lot of redundancy but very little synergy so you're better off not trying to make a TAC list. Especially at lower point levels.

I would also recommend avoiding the vindicator. When you have just one of them, they pose very little in the way of a real threat and are easy to take out. You need at least two but then you're basically just paying a tax in the hopes that one of them gets a shot off before it gets killed. I've had much better luck with Predators and/or Obliterators.

Also, Nurgle is a pretty big key in this codex so consider looking at that. Good luck!

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug
