With Tom Kirby resigning, and gw losing money, is now the time to sell out of our armies?!

No way. If GW doesn't go out of business then, well.. they'll still be around.

If they DO go out of business, you can still play the game. Playing the game isn't dependent on GW's existence. Besides, the armies will probably sell for more if the company goes under.

There's already two threads, one directly next to yours at time of writing, I know you like to be a special snowflake Daly, but this is a totally redundant thread.

Save up some cash to take advantage of the final fire sale.

After all, a lot of the kits are actually pretty good. The rules won't wither into dust.

If GW goes bust there is a good chance someone else would take over and continue or re-publish the game.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Hold on now, we're talking about GW making !!!!124 MILLION EUROs!!!! rather than 135 million Euros.

I could hardly say that is a sign of GW going out of business. Keep your models, dude

You do understand what profit is right?

And that the cost to operate GW mean they only cleared 12M?

And that if revenue drops by 12M, they'll no longer be profitable, right?

GW isn't going out of business tomorrow, but its not looking good for them more than a few years down the road.

If you still find the game fun, keep them and continue playing.

If you no longer find the game fun but still have the models in hopes of "better times", then sell them, because they will be worth a lot less when Gdub calls for bankruptcy.

But why would you sell your armies? Even if the company magically pinged out of existence right now you could still play the game if you had models and rulebooks...

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Can always use your models for 40k RPGs.

Okay! Lets make one thing VERY VERY Clear.

If GW goes down the tube, that doesn't mean their IP (warhammer Fantasy, and Warhammer 40k) is going down the tube with them.

The PLAYERS will still play the game with the miniatures they have, and 3rd party companies will be free to produce more 28mm alternative figures without fear of lawsuit. the Fan-Base will continue to support the game rules wise.

And THAT is assuming that another company, doesn't scoop up the licences. Like when FASA closed, FanPro, and then Catalyst picked up the licence for Classic Battletech and Shadowrun and ran with it.

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Against whom?

I have armies / warbands / fleets / gangs (and attached rules) for the following no longer supported systems:

- BFG;
- Mordheim;
- Necromunda;
- Aeronautica Imperialis;
- Bloodbowl;
- Confrontacion;
- Inquisitor;

Take a guess at how many regular opponents I get for each of those systems (baring the occasional BB league)?

Make no mistake, if GW goes down, the games will go down with it. Some regions will still have players playing older versions of the game, but 99% of the people will just move on to other games.

And even if another company picks up the IP, they won't keep the games around, they'll just make their own versions of them that probably won't even use the same exact models.

I know this is a hot topic, but we do want to leave room to talk about things other than GW's dismal financial report on this forum

Thanks!
