Trying to stay as pure clan as I can but still have fun army that won't lose horribly... Never played skaven an only fought them once with dwarves and was brutally beaten by them... That was a long time ago in the days of 6th ed lol... I now play high elves, Lizardmen and warriors of chaos. How do they differ from these armies play style wise other than horde? What type of new tactics are at my disposal? I know that I am limiting my self via the theme and if I do start the army up will probably collect all I the clans, but something about Nurgle like rats tickles my fancy lol.

Your list is illegal. You need to spend at least 625 points in core units, and you have spent 0 so far.

The old book allowed you to run specific clans changing the rarity of units but no longer.

Here is my revised list.... I got rid of the clan theme and just went crazy. I feel it's a little standard feeling as it's a little similar to other lists but I am okay with that...

Lords

Grey seer - bell, talisman of preservation

Heroes

Chieftain- Bsb halberd shield armor of destiny

Plague priest - lvl 2

Warlock- lvl 1 dispel scroll

Warlock- doom rocket

Core

40 Clan rats - sword and board mus SB

40 Clan rats - sword and board mus SB

30 storm vermin- SB mus razor standard

Rat dart

Rat dart

Special

40 plague monks- SB mus

Rare

Warp lightning cannon

Hell pit abomination

2 doom wheels

Tell me what you think??

So just realized the bel gives a 4+ ward so what other items would be good for the grey seer

Well your second list is alright. I'm not a big fan of the bell at all tho. I'd rather you take a plague furnace its got more umfph in my opinion way better than the bell.

If you want to keep the bell you should give you seer a power scroll which halves the casting value of one spell once per game (dreaded thirteenth) but use it after your opponent uses his dispelled scroll. Also you can give him skalm which is also a good item.

You need slaves. 2 blocks of 40-50 is a must. That's just how skaven play haha

What unit would be pushing your bell? Your gunna need 50+ clanrats and 40+ stormvermin to push that thing.
For your plague monks take the banner of verminous scurrying (I think that's what its called?) if you take a furnace to get them in combat as fast as possible. If you don't have them pushing a furnace bring them with the plague banner.

As for your rates they look fine but I'd rather see 2 cannons and 1 hpa and only 1 doomwheel. I find 2 doomwheels can get a little unweildly.

I replace a doom wheel with a lightning cannon

Up the storm vermin to 40 strong to go with the bell

And replace 1 group if clan rats and the rat darts wth two 45 strong slave units

The grey seer gets the pipes and power scroll

Heroes remain the same...

Your first list was legal, Lord Skrolk does allow plague monks to be treated as core
That said, Skrolk is probably the worst special character in the book (super pricey, no save of any kind)

Here are my two Warptokens:

- the first list had the following tactical options: rush forward and fight. Hope that you can out-kill the enemy.

- Don't take the Banner of the Horned Rat. Your BSB will be dead before it really comes into play.
The Storm Banner would be wonderful in such a combat-oriented list. The Plague Banner is an amazing buy, too.

- the Pipes are okay at best. On a Plague Priest, especially one with the Furnace, I like the Talisman of Preservation and an Ironcurse Icon, or maybe the Foul Pendant and Portents of Verminuous Doom.

- yeah, the second list is pretty standard. The Bell can be used to great effect; just don't expect it to rock the house at any one point.

- common magic items for the Seer on a Bell: Fencer's Blades (WS10 means WS4 and lower hit him on 5's), Shadow Magnet Trinket, Dispel/Feedback/Power Scrolls, Earthing Rod, Ironcurse Icon, Skalm. Mix n' match, and take your pick.

- Why not drop the second Warlock, give the Scroll to the Priest, and give the Doomrocket to the first Warlock? Saves ya' 15pts.
With that said, you could always save 65pts by dropping the lvl1 on him, too. A lvl4 and a lvl2 will usually be enough to use up all your power dice.

- the Razor Standard is decent. The Storm Banner, however, is simply stupid-amazing.

- now that the Talisman of Preservation is free, stick it on your BSB. Same effect for 5pts less. Then drop his shield, since he can't use it with the halberd anyway. But do give him a Charmed Shield; it's one-time effect kicks in whether he's using it or no.

- I like me some Champions in my units. Nothing better than accepting the challenge of that High Elven Prince on his Star Dragon with your Fangleader and watching all those wounds go to waste.

- Gutter Runners are a good trouble-shooting unit, to handle/harass that weird stuff the rest of your list can't. And at 2,500, I'd try to fit in 4 Rat Darts (or Rat Darts and some blocks of 20 Slaves). Chaff is just so incredibly important.

- get a magic banner on them Plague Monks. The Plague Banner is as close to broken as can be...

So here is another revision of the list

Grey seer- bell, power stone, skalm

Chieftain- bsb, banner of storm, shield

Plague priest- dispel scroll

2 rat darts

40 clan rats- shields, full command

50 slaves- musician

40 stormvermin- full command razor standard

30 plague monks- full command plague banner

7 gutter runners- slings

7 gutter runners- slings

2 warp fire cannons

Doom wheel

He'll put abomination

What do you think??? It gives me a little of everything from all the clans, has decent numbers and some chaff and warmachine hunters... Stormvermin push the bell and the clan rats go on one flank with the bsb and the monks on the other side of the bell.... Rats redirect and die slaves push forward as a distraction/ tarpit... I don't want the bell to be I combat unless it needs to so I might have the clan rats push it if I need the storm vermin out fighting.

I'd definitely let the Clanrats push the Bell. Your opponent is already going to be tempted by the Stormvermin, since they're a bigger threat to them, are worth more points, and are easier to take out with shooting and magic. I'd put the Bell-egg in one basket and the Stormvermin-egg in another.

The Power Stone is okay, but I'd rather see the Earthing Rod on the Seer. Or you could drop the Priest all together and give your Seer the Dispel Scroll.

A Warlock Engineer with the Doomrocket is the most dangerous 45pts in Warhammer.

Your BSB is more important than any magic banner. The only time I'm okay with him carrying one is when you can reliably keep him out of combat (with a bunker of 20 Clanrats, or with frontage/command/character placement shenanigans).
Give him a halberd, a Charmed Shield, and a Talisman of Preservation, and give the Stormvermin the Stormbanner. The Razor Standard is neat, but a distant 2nd to Ol' Stormy.

You're pretty light on your model count; the standard is one model/10pts. I'd consider dropping one unit of Gutter Runners. You could get another unit of 40 Slaves, some more Rat Darts, bulk out your Clanrats...whatever seems to work.
Oh. And Gutter Runners need Poisoned Attacks to be worth it.

This list is pretty similar to mine, when I run the Bell. I think you'll be able to put up a fight against a wide variety of lists, and I doubt anyone's going to have a huge problem with it.

So I have the seer the earthing rod and pipes (situational but kool when they work)

Bsb as you said

Added a rocketlock

Gave stormvermin the storm banner

Took out 1 unit of gutter runners to give the other poison

I know it's light on models, I'm trying to save money where I can but still have a decent army that I can slowly build over time and then expand my collection later...

Thx for all the great ideas... I'm definitely going to do several test runs before I buy anything. Just trying to get a solid idea formed and see what more experienced skaven players think about what works and doesn't work.

The Pipes are...just not that good. I'd rather see him take the Shadow Magnet Trinket, or the Fencer's Blades. A Ld test to charge will mean that, out of the six charges his unit faces over the course of 3 games, your opponent will fail one of those times.

The Earthing Rod is far from "situational". The Grey Seer is a wizard. If you want to be chucking a bunch of dice to get the Curse or Plague or what-have-you to go off, it's quite likely that he'll Miscast at least once a game. And since he's the single most expensive model in your army (even before the Bell), and is your General, and a huge source of offensive and defensive power, you want to keep him alive.
