I have one of these babies and was going to take it on JetBlue next month. Has anyone traveled with a 720?

I totally would like to know too... I had one once but never traveled with it on a plane.

Maybe the mods would allow you to ask in the tournaments subforum? I'm sure that might garner a bit more attention. I have my eye on TableWar myself.

I don't have a 720 but I do have a 1520 xl. Bringing it all the way from Germany (so it had to ride cargo instead of carry on) to Georgia, and then driving cross country to Oklahoma saw not a single model damaged, if that gives you any idea of battlefoam's quality.

I travel quite a bit, though not with my 720. What I can easily tell you however... It is NOT sized appropriately for carry-on luggage. You will need to, at the very least, check it at the gate. I love my BF bags, they're a quality product, but if I were to travel with my models I'd purchase (without a second thought) a BF Black Label hard case or a PACK AIR.

Flying to GenCon 2013 with a Battlefoam bag (loaded with Space Marines):

TSA: "Are you a dentist?"
Me: "Uh, no."
TSA: "Then why are there teeth in that bag?"
Me: "I assure you, there are no teeth in this bag."
TSA: "YES THERE IS, I SEEN IT ON THE SCREEN."
Me: "I packed it myself, there are no teeth in the bag."
TSA: "Please open the bag sir."
Me: "No problem." Opens bag.
TSA agent looks at the rows of Space Marine models in the top tray.
TSA: "Fine. Go."

I was able to carry the bag on board and no models were damaged. If you get a regional jet, the 720 will not fit in the overhead compartment and you will have to gate check it. The 432 will fit in some regional jet overhead bins (had more luck with Delta, not much luck with American).

Never check your bags. I have heard nothing but horror stories about what happens. Always carry it on. I played a guy this year at adepticon, he had all chariot WoC and had to check his bag. Had battle foam custom cut trays and still EVERY SINGLE chariot was broken when he got to chicago.

Never never never check your army regardless of what case you have. Nothing can protect your minis from baggage handlers.

NEVER check you bags. Before you buy any case, go on your favorite airline's website and check the dimensions for carry on. Only after that should you look for cases. Better yet, buy a carrying case (luggage) and foam and make your own. Checked minis = lost/destroyed minis.

I have flown all over the world and I have never had an issue checking my bags. That being said I have watched baggage handlers load planes and I would never check my miniature army in a soft case. I would only ship in a hard case - and I would probably put that case inside a hard case of some sort.

I have shipped many a thing by military mail including miniatures. My KR multi case was in a plastic foot locker type case and it survived just fine.

Also, remember you are probably shipping hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of miniatures. get some sort of insurance if you can.
