I see this model and I do not really see a downside to it. Are these played much? If so, with which warlock typically? Is there a downside I am missing?

I have only seen them used with Bethayne as they benefit from her feat. Not seem they used with any other lock in my local group.

They're alright, its just that there are better choices available.

The downside is expense: 4 points is a bit steep for what you're getting, and two of her abilities (Blight Storm/Wind Ravager) are situational at best. She's generally taken in lists where you have a lot of flying warbeasts to take advantage of Aerial Coordination, or in Bethayne's tier list where she's a point cheaper and feat turn can make her spray very scary.

Free charges on flying beasts was only so helpful as Angels generally boost ATT/DMG on the AP attack and then they are done.

With the Neraph on the way though, it does make me want to try out the old legion Flying Circus lists and see how viable they are. The Neraph would love a free charge and if its backed up with Angels, might be something to consider.

Otherwise, as stated above, 4 pts is expensive for what they bring to the table and those 4 points generally are coming from our support slots which is already crammed for choices such as fury management, deathstalkers, succubus, UA's etc.

Its a very situational, and expensive, model to take.

Only worth it if you've got a bunch of flying beasts really. And even then its a questionable choice.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Legion has a lot of strong options, which can mean that some viable, but not "as strong" models get left behind. This is one such model which isn't bad, its just not top rate.

It's also a niche filler, its not trying to be a generalist, instead its very clearly aimed at supporting a warbeast group that has multiple flying units so that you can get the most out of it - esp since it can be a little squishy so you can't bank upon its spells getting into play too often before the model is taken out.

By all means if you've got a strong flyer focused warbeast group its an ideal model to consider in games; if you're only throwing in one or two to a larger group chances are there are better options to consider.

It's worth taking in Saeryn's tier list or other lists that focus on spamming models with Flight (apart from eAbsylonia).

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.
