Ok, this is really just asking at the moment, but i have a BA friend that wants to play 500pts doubles with me later on (Maybe later this year.) We have decided that he's gonna be the usual hack 'n slash that BA are famed for and I'll be the Guns.

Any recommendations on what to take?

I want lots of firepower, but as many "mortar" (forgotten what the special rule is now...) units as possible so they don't get creamed by Tau.

PS. He's mostly gonna use DC

I think you're looking for Whirlwinds and maybe Vindicators. If there's enough cover, you might have luck with bikes and/or land speeders skirmishing to shoot whatever your ally cannot assault.
