Vets - 2x Melta Guns, Heavy Flamer
Chimera - Multi Laser, Heavy Bolter

Wyvern

Wyvern

Aegis Defence Line, Quad Gun

The Conscripts and blob squad guard the tanks while the commissar and priest do there thing and stop them from running away, Platoon commander sits on the Quad gun for primary anti air fire power while hiding behind the Aegis while the vets drive around shooting things... while the tank units tank on pretty much anything with split fire orders.

Anyway tips? helpful pointers? things I missed?

Cheers

If you're not taking any wargear options, I don't see the advantage of a commissar over another priest, to be honest. Zealot is just better.

Mixing and matching tank classes probably isn't a great plan since it's awkward when you have unsuitable weapons on a tank. 3 squadrons of 2 is probably more flexible than 2 of three.

If concerned about the extra kill point, you can always lock the two wyverns into a battery.

Solid list I run a very similar one myself and my mates are getting very bored. Don't use 3 tanks in the tank command keep it to 2, pask an pal works as does a vanquisher with 1 russ, put heavy flamers on the chimera instead of bolters, put the extra russes into individual units, also an exterminator or eradicated with flamers for anti horde may be usefull or flamers on a demolisher for close in fun, lose the commissar the priest is better and fearless means they won't run

Not in all cases.

If the a Troops in question are planning to hide behind the Aegis, then the Commissar is better than the Priest.
Fearless prevents a unit going to ground, and claiming the Aegis' improved cover save.

I like it all save the standard Leman Russes, they're not that great anymore given the changes from Lumbering Behemoth and Heavy Tank; it sort of ruins the sponson options for them (and lets face it a Russ without a sponsons just isn't worth it.). I'd drop them in favor of better variants, Punishers, Eradicators, Exterminators or even Executioners (a little more pricey); the turn out will be far more impressive.

As for the Priest, Commissar, Platoon combo, keep it that way. If you can weasel some points for power weapons on Sergeants and the Commissar too, you'll love having ap2 str5 weapons if you ever run into terminators or other nastiness. Additionally, if you have the Commissar with a powersword he can beat the poweklaw/pfist/hammer characters (minus any 2+ saves of course) pretty handily.

Give the punisher a lascannon and multi melta sponsons. It's easily the best russ in the game at that point. Aside from that there isn't anything more I would recomend.

Hey thanks for all the comments

Commissar over the Priest for going to ground, its handy when your need your guardsmen to be alive to sacrifice them later to an assault unit. Did have some dramas in a few test games over the week end with 3 in a tank squadron defiantly gonna go to pask punisher excututioner, vanquisher exterminator, and a heavy slut of 2 battle tanks.

Im not a big one for putting points into guard close combat not enough bang for your buck and normally i want the squad to die in the first round of combat so the enemy assaulter's are looking straight at Sir Knight Commander Pask and his Heavy 20.

Say I wanted to increase this list upto 2000 pts any recommendations? was thinking of dropping the exterminators heavy bolters and adding a vendetta?

Thanks again for all your comments!

Bravo Charlie Out.
