Okay getting back into 40k after a break since end of 5th ed

With the recent clear out of everything im starting an eldar army!

Im also not the biggest fan of serpent spam due to it being a bit boring

Farseer
Runes of witnessing
Jetbike 130p

9 man windrider jetbike squad
3 shuricannons 183p

3 x 3 man windrider jetbikes
3 x shuricannon 183

Comes to 493 points

Prehaps not the most optimised list around

Plan
Farseer sticks with and buffs 9 man squad 3 man squads capture obejectives

Really seems like I can't go to far wrong with anything that is brought to the table against it with so much rending shots and the farseer being all that he can be especially at this points level

Anything I should change? As this is the first stepping stone to the 2000p list

Apologies for any mistakes and not so much content super hard to do on phone!

Welcome to dakka!
Well, agaisnt even the slightest competitive 500 point lists your going to struggle big time.
av 13+ your gone.
Anything that can shoot is going to put massive dents in your army.
Anything that can get into combat will hurt you.

Only time this list really does well would be in mealstrom games, or going for late game objective grabbing.

I do drugs.
Mostly Plastic Crack, but I do dabble in Cardboard Cocaine.

I second what the above poster said, you are going to struggle against armour. I'm sure you know this but Bladestorm isn't the same as Rending, you don't get your extra d3 armour penetration. I think it will be a fun list however. At least throw a Singing Spear on the Farseer, a strength 9 shooting attack and an Armourbane CC attack for 5 points? Yes please!

They aren't the best but if you threw in a couple of Vypers you could get some firepower while still fitting your theme.

Ditch the 9 bike squad in favor of 2 Vypers with Bright Lances, Ghostwalk, Holo-fields and Cannons. Halves the actual army numbers, but gives almost as many useful shots, 4+ cover save behind the Jetbikes when moving (cover screen with the bikes) and no dangerous terrain tests if you want to hide in Ruins for a bit. Points are still there if you prefer to upgrade to Missile Launchers but Bright Lances are just a touch more effective when it's your only anti armor option. Grand total is 20pts left with BL Vypers coming to 170 as listed so that 20 can add another bike or some upgrade somewhere.

I agree with everyone here, armour (vehicles) will give you trouble. The singing spear on the farseer is a fantastic choice and sticking with the biker theme you can throw in viper jetbikes with Bright lances. in 500 points that should be a good mix of anti-armour and anti-infantry.

Close combat will rip you apart but this is where playing smart matters. You need to be able to alpha strike any units that have a shot at assaulting you and make sure they stay far away. Failing that your bikes have great mobility so use that to keep your distance. Target transports with cc units inside first then have you bikes move in, shoot and then move out in the assault phase with their 2d6 movement. Remember you cannot shoot at units that disembark from a transport as a result of it getting wrecked or explodes on the turn you destroyed the transport. And your turbo boost is great, if you don't shoot you can move your bikes 36". That's a great way to snag objectives in a hurry. Bike armies excel in the maelstrom missions. They have a tougher time in the eternal war missions.

And welcome to Dakka, the people here are great and a veritable wealth of knowledge. Hope we can help. Sorry for the long post.

This is not quite accurate. If you are shooting a single unit at a transport, you cannot (for example) shoot the shuri-cannon at the transport, wreck it, and then shoot the rest of the squad's catapults at the survivors. You can shoot at them with other units in your army - unit 'A' wrecks the transport, unit 'B' shoots at the now-disembarked passengers.

Really? Is my way of understanding how it was in 6th and 7th has changed it? Either way thank you very much for correcting me, I'll be bringing this back to my gaming group cause we've been doing it wrong since 7th released lol.

Quanar, thanks.

Something no one has said yet is that you might want to consider getting a warlock as well for your big squad, maybe dropping it to a 6 man squad. Conceal will give you a 2+ cover save when in ruins or jinking. That could be huge at 500 points where there isnt much low ap ignores cover fire
