Hello everyone, So Im posting up my very first WH40K List for my first match coming up this Thursday. its a friendly match 500pt against some dark Eldar. anyways I believe I did this right so here it is. Also Im going to say that my HQ choice is due to model selection that i have here I may switch out and proxy something else

HQ

Weirdboy

45pt

Troop

30 boyz
w/ big shootas and rokkits
nob w/ PK and BP

225pt

20 boyz
nob w/PK and BP

135pt

Fast attack

6 bikes

108

Total

513

Battle Plan would be 20boyz up front follow by the 30 boyz, move up as fast as they can to crush the pesky space pirates. Bikes would be on the most open side of the board and they would blitz up the flank and inflict as much damage to them as possible to keep his attention on them. and weirdboy...well not really sure about him but its the only HQ i own lol

I dont know where to trim down my forces to make it below 500pt. Any Constructive criticism would be highly appreciated.

Yes, proxy something else.

A 500 point dark eldar list will be in us Orks capabilities to defeat.

What are Dark Eldar Strengths?
- They are FAST
- They have lots of poison
- They are high initiative in Assault.
- They have pretty good ranged anti tank
- Their biggest weakness is they are squishy and their weapons generally DON'T ignore cover like Tau and Astra Militarum and their Eldar kin

Use cover to mitigate damage. Their lance weapons negate the benefits of Av > 12. So battle wagons are less effective.

What works?
- 5 gun Lobba battery with 2 ammo runts would put some serious hurt on those goth wannabe nances. Added bonus is they can be completely out of LOS so they can't shoot at YOU with those nasty poison weapons.

- Lootas? Schwing!! You'll lay waste to their flimsy open topped pirate ships.

- Negate their weapons by taking lots of boys. Put them in a trukk with a PK nob all in 'eavy armor. Add a Painboy for significant increase in durability. Or go cheap. No armor. No PB.

- since you're new you may not have to many models (ESP vehicles). So, consider proxying a big Mek with KFF if you are going to stay on foot. Take something with some punch (Lobbas or Lootas) for your backfield.

Welcome to dakka. Sorry for your impending addiction.

200 boyz

8 lootas

2 kans

1 dred

3 trukks

6 bikes

10 NIB loota/flamer

ghazthull thraka

painboy

weirdboy

1 dakka jet

and I think that's about it... so swapping painboy would be ideal. any real ideas on what to work with this list of models would be great. thanks again for the reply

I am a dark eldar player and I will tell you what I would run for 500 points.

3x Venom
-Splinter cannon
-Night Shield

Archon
-Agoniser
-Haywire Grenades
-Shadow Field

4 TrueBorn
-4 Blasters

5 wychs

the archon and trueborn in one venom mech hunting

the wyches in another venom rushing so the wyches can slow up the front line

The last venom spraying down the heavier troops

If you can get rid of the venoms then the splinter cannon damage can be reduced.
that will be the biggest issue as each venom can spit out 12 shots.

500 points i would say be an ork and either take nothing but boys or take those mega nobs you have, its always fun.

i am a dark eldar player and have fought against orks many times, i use a lot of snooty stuff and with my new addition of talos i have found it even easier to hold of against masses of boys as he it S7 T7 with at least D6 attacks.

No armor. No PB.

though this is all true i have a few things to point out.

1. terrain is a dark eldars best friend, if you have shooting weapons that don't need line of sight then dark eldar have the speed to be able to get into sight and unload on you.

2. dark eldar vehicles are very easy to damage yes, but they get a 4+ jink and if night fighting is on then its a 3+ so you have to get the hits to actually hit before you can hurt them.

3. a well balanced dark eldar army needs no combat element, they can do all their damage in shooting (i have wiped a green tide in 5 turns without any combat happening before), dark eldar have lots of shots and can use them very well.

4. providing the dark eldar player actually know his/her army and its capabilities they will be able to make and use a very effective army at any points limit.

the important thing is if you're having fun its going to a good game, orks are generally easy to play just take lots of things to move up the table and beat down whatever gets in the way.

try using a 10 man nob squad with boss pole 1-2 PK, the rest big choppas, combi flamers, painboy, this is a unit i have always struggled to beat.

if you can stop the dark eldar from getting cover saves then you can cripple them extremely quickly, you will know if you are going to win or lose by the end of turn 2 against these guys.

Tau 4500
Dark Eldar 2500
Space Wolves 4000
Grey Knights 3500
Tyranids 1500
Space Marines 2000
Blood Angels 2000
Black Templars 2500
Dark Angels Dark Vengeance x3
Chaos Space Marines Dark Vengeance x3

As said above, get ready to face for a Venom and poison spam, and use a lot of Boyz and Lootas.

I think your 2x 20 boyz and 7 lootas is a better list but swap warboss for kff mek
