Hello all,
This is meant to be an all-comers list and possibly used in small local tournaments, although I've never participated in one. Give me your thoughts and criticisms!

The unit that I'm considering cutting is the hammerhead and possibly adding in another unit of firewarriors with a Cadre Fireblade

How many missile sides are you taking?

I'm not an experienced Tau player so these are questions for my education....
- Why is Cadre Fireblade so useful?
- why not more suits over large FW squads? I assume you're thinking of NOT putting the FW in the DFish so they can snatch objectives with ObSec?
-why are your FW squads so big?

-My missleside squad includes 3 suits at 65 each, EWO is 5 each, and two drones at 12 each. I did two drones so that two units will have to die to force a morale test.

-I've actually never used the cadre fireblade and I'm still skeptical to use it since it will be a big target for any type of barrage/large blast and it can't move for the extra shot.

-FW over suits? Well, a little bit of personal preference here. I've always really liked the firewarrior and have never been drawn towards a crisis suit heavy list. Also, with my two riptides I only have room for bodyguards.

-I will be putting the FW inside the devilfish. This allows me to protect them, and give them way more mobility. Also, once I drop them off at an objective, I can use the devilfish to snatch an objective of it's own if it hasn't been killed. Being able to drop off the drones as a separate squad when I drop off the FW can be handy as well.

-Why 12 man FW squads? More Dakka

Cadre Fireblades are best run in twos, IMO.

Taking of them with 10 FWs in a D-Fish gives a mobile unit that pumps out 48 S5 AP5 shots a turn when in RF range, or 36 whenever else. If you add in an ethereal, too, it bumps up to 60 in RF range.

Take them in the fish, plop them in cover to help protect from blasts, and watch the dakka fly. If you want more fun, take shadowsun over the commander and attach her to the unit. they get stealth+shrouded, meaning a 4+ cover save out in the open, and potentially a 2+ in ruins.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.
Rule #2 is Do Cool S*%* Even If It's Tactically Inadvisable
Winning is something like Rule #17.

Your Commander can't take Missile Drones sorry but they are Broadsides only

I think you're taking too many Devilfish, Firewarriors need to be shooting nearly every turn and having them inside a Devilfish for 2 turns isn't using them to their fullest. If you drop a Devilfish I would suggest picking up a Barracuda these things are amazing at dog fighting and you are lacking in air defense.

I would put SMS on the Devilfish as well as a DP and the upgrade that allows them to overwatch this would turn the Devilfish into a force to be reckoned with.

With large Firewarrior squads a Cadre Fireblade would be brilliant and I always take one. Firewarrior squads aren't going to be your opponents primary target and I think you will be surprised how long he will survive.

OP:
I guess I thought FWs should always be within 6" of an adjacent squad so you can benefit from overwatch shenanigans then let the empty devilfish go cap objectives. Splitting them up and sending them forward seems bad bad bad. But my tau are still NIB. So I don't know nuthin'.
