Let me start by saying that I love Terminators, and always have back to the days of 2nd edition. I saw this boxed army and while it's like $325 it seems to be a pretty good sized army (Reading a few sites about the accompanying Dataslate it looks to be about 1500 points) which despite my disliking GW prices overall, I would be fine with $325 for a 1500 point force since that's a lot better than paying the same for 500 points or so. I'm seriously being tempted by this, because I love how the Terminators look.

However, I haven't played 40k since midway through 3rd edition, although I have the 7th edition rulebook as a digital download on my iPad and I have the Space Marine Codex from a previous "Hmm maybe I should play again" episode. With that in mind, is it even viable to use an all-Terminator army without getting immediately crushed? I would not be playing competitively at all, only non-competitive gaming, if I get lucky maybe with some kind of narrative campaign (I'm already thinking of expanding with allies, possibly a Knight and a Militarum Tempestus force, I have the idea of a small but elite detachment sent to quickly put down some insurrection or deal with some threat), but I've heard horror stories about the general balance of the game so I don't want to shell out a lot of money and find that I can't win a game.

Well yes of course I always compare straight retail though to get an idea.

It's cheaper than separate components, and you should be able to find it through a discounter online, which actually gives pretty damn good saving!

An all Terminator force is fun to play, it requires a lot of thought but is rewarding. Then again, I'm biased as a Deathwing player...

It's a good deal as long as you don't have any hope of winning a competitive game with it.
