I just read the codex and loved the idea of a troll army. I have 0 clue if its viable but will ask what happens when/if Throgg dies? The stupidity rules ruin you right?

I dislike lynchpin characters is all, they always happen to find interesting ways to die early.

As it stands, you auto-lose Blood & Glory.

Also, how do you plan to deal with the current Wood elf lists?

He doesn't have to survive. He just has to do his job.

My DP got gunned down by waywatchers at the weekend, but you're right he's not there to survive, you hide him 30 inches away. Send the bsb out to fight the way watchers, send the sorceror with horsemen out to random movement them so they are atleast a movement penalty when they shoot

But wood elves are becoming more and more difficult to fight as warriors

You can't really bank on that as waywatchers deploy as scouts. Trolls won't necessarily be in a position to go for them. In the last local tourney a strong player ran a similar list and against 3 wood elf players his DP never saw the end of turn 2. That's 500+ points and your strongest magic offense/defense.

Long range fire power will help a lot in negating this weakness. Thus cannon and magic missiles. Death is too short-ranged

Magic can't be your answer too it because it's so unreliable, avenger is right, I could have every magic missile under the sun, but if I get snakes it's useless

Well, considering how badly written the wood elf book is, the waywatchers will either be up in my junk in a position where they can't be charged, which is where they should be, or they'll be out back supporting the sisterbus. Either way, that's only 20 models, who on average, won't kill the prince before he ploughs into a unit. I am confident enough in my skill to keep my prince alive using terrain, because I actually have skill.

It's pretty solid.
A buddy locally runs a very similar list. After several games, he added Scyla and swapped the skullcrushers for hellcannnos.

It usually gives you better Ld early on with the trolls, and puts your 100 point general killing bonus in a different basket than the daemon prince.

A) It's not ego. On any board, you can stack the minuses to hit. 20 shots hittng on 2s and 20 shots hitting on 3s is a remarkable difference. Especially once you factor in the wounding on 6s,

B) Hellcannons are notoriously unreliable unless they're taken in pairs. And that infringes on skullcrusher points.

The list is ok, the only thing give to the exalted hero the Demonic mount isntead of the disc of tzeentch, for the same point you loose fly but gain +1 W an +1.

If you dont play the hellcannon, nor magic missile it's very diffcult to stand a chance againts, WE

Wood elves are one of my favourite match ups. If I charge the wild riders, they die. And the shooting isn't that great against the troll wall.
