You folks who use a bunch of drop pods, how do you transport your drop pods to the gaming store or a friend's place?

I'm mostly wondering about *not* buying an expensive case for them, if you've figured out some method, some nice sized container for them... thanks!

I have one drop pod. While I have never used it in a game outside of my house, I would just wrap it in a cloth towel and card board box it with a few other larger models like tanks. I have a case for some tanks but not all of mine.

I put together five and I may even go up to seven. Took me forever to justify buying models that just show up on the table and don't move lol, but I did it.

I know I could get some sort of tub and try to work it out, but with so many people running drop pod armies I figured someone already cracked this nut. I like my KR multicases, but I'm not buying an entire new case just to fit 4 of my pods, heck no...

Before I got my KR case for my (now) 3 pods, I individually packed them in scraps of foam in a generic tool/camera case. Irritating as all get out, but it worked.

Mass drop pod armies is one the the places where battlefoam outshines KR. They have a tray, that due to not being constrained to the KRU hight, can pack a lot of pods very efficiently into the space.

Transportation to the game: Yet another reason drop pods suck.

I just put them in a box with my tanks. They're sturdy enough not to break unless you happen to drive through an earthquake.

nice. I may just have to get the appropriate sized box and throw in a little foam I have lying around. I really can't justify yet another case for those things. Even though I did look up that Battlefoam tray which is pretty good looking...

A standard GW tank box, with the lid upside down and the base in it, will hold 5, with room to put padding in between them.

This is what I do.

I only have 1 Pod (thankfully), but it rides in my backpack wrapped in a hand towel with any other big models (commonly a LR a/o SR). I get the train to my LGS, and I can only manage a shoulder strap carry case (holds all models - expect aforementioned larger models) and a backpack with books/dice/etc.
However, I cant see this being feasible with any more than 3 pods...

I just use a copy paper box. I have 1 for pods and 1 for tanks/flyers. It will fit 6 pods with room for foam in between. I'm thinking about getting a pelican case with pnp foam and enough height for them. A friend of mine got rear ended pretty bad with his models in boxes in the trunk. A whole 5,000 point CSM army was basically ruined.

It may sound silly, but a simple toolbox with cotton wool and some scrunched-up paper towels are such an easy and safe way of transporting any 40k models. I used to do that when I first started playing in 2006 (I was about 12). A load of older guys at my local gaming store used to take the mick a bit, but that can easily be stopped by destroying them in a game. That should solve your problem!

I get a grid coordinate on the battlefield and call in the drop pods from orbit.... actually I carry them in a dang cardboard box... making spaceship noises and gunfire sounds as I carry them...

I am adding more drop pods, one is a Forge World Dreadnaught Pod, having a devil of a time with magnets and the doors. So really I'm not looking forward to carrying all these things once I get them all ready. That Forge World Pod wouldn't make it through a fall if I dropped it.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

Get a Bankers Box (you know the boxes used to store files). They are sturdy and come in a variety of "toughness" as far as how much weight can be stacked upon them. Once you have the box you'll need some foam sheets, you can then custom cut out the perfect shapes to hold i think 6-8 Drop pods in one sturdy bankers box. Its probably the best cheap option.

I put all my stuff into a couple of tool boxes I got cheap and carry them gently from the car and back!

Mine were stored 5 to a box, in foam cradles.
/\ \/ /\ \/ /\

I had 3 boxes of them (1 was GW, 3 were CNC miniaturescenery the other 11 were card, foamcard, balsa and bits built from the old GW France templates). Used all 15 just the once, to drop an entire company of marines into an apoc game with dread support.

All the cases fit into a duffel bag.
