In my current campaign, I'm going to go for a hail Mary.
Currently, I'm limited to 1 chariot, 1 warmachines, and 1 monster, and 2000 points. Additionally, I cannot duplicate specials are rares.
I have lore of vampire and lore of death, and I'm running undead legion.
I'm contemplating a surprise attack on the nearby orc capitol. It's well defended, and I expect to be facing 3000 points of O&G, and he'll have 2 chariots (or units of chariots), 2 warmachines, 2 monsters.
Yes, I'm going into battle down 1,000 points.
Here's what I'm thinking.
Necromancer Lord, level 4, lore of death. 4+ ward, dispel scroll, Ironcurse Icon, barded skeleton steed.
Wight King, BSB, enchanted shield, MR3, heavy armor, lance, barded skeleton steed.
Necromancer, level 2, skeleton steed, lore of vampire
2 Cairn Wraith characters.
4x5 dire wolves
2x10 skeleton archers
21 ghouls, with champ
10 hex wraiths
10 Black Knights, full command, barding and lances, banner of swiftness (ethereal movement 9).
4 Spirit Hosts
The plan is to try and sweep into his backfield with the ethereal movement and death magic his characters/warmachines away. Purple sun down the line if I can, and try to pick up enough for a minor victory.
All the ethereals are tasked with sweeping up fanatics and manglers (along with squigs), and the level 2's just their to replace my losses.
MR3 is to help with the warpath, and with a 4+ ward on the Master necro (2+ vs spells) I should weather the O&G magic well enough.
Wraiths (both flavors) will be forcing terror tests, which is very effective once the general has been death-magicked away.
Given the restrictions above, what would you take?
Odds are good I've got the models to run any ideas you have.
