Hello Dakka!

With the new DE Codex, it's maybe time to unbox all the stuff I bought a few years ago.
Could you please tell me if I can field any 1kpts good army with the following boxes:
1x Hellions
3x Venoms
2x Kabalite Warriors
1x Wracks
1x Archon
1x Portal
1x Incubi
1x Scourges
1x Talos
2x Ravagers
And what would be the most urgent additional boxes I should buy asap.

OK, you can probably make a reasonable force at 100 points from that.

Try this:

Archon, Agoniser, Web Way Portal, Shadowfield, Haywire Greande (Goes with the Scourges)

5 Trueborn, 2 Splinter Cannon, Venom, 2 Splinter Cannon

5 Warriors, Blaster, Venom, 2 Splinter Cannon

5 Warriors, Blaster, Venom, 2 Splinter Cannon

5 Scourges, 4 Haywire Blasters

Ravager, 3 Lances

Ravager, 3 Lances

Thats a tad under 1000, leaves you some points for upgrades to taste. Its not a top tier list, but is fine and will see you hopefully having some fun games.

What should be my 2-3 next purchases to improve that?

Depends on how you want to go, do you like fast units? Close Combat? Shooting? Tricks?

There's a lot to offer in the Dark Eldar codex and it really depends on what you enjoy. The only reason I haven't recommended taking your Talos in the list for example is that you only have one and they are better in larger units.

Can you describe a theme/feel of what you're after and I'll be bale to give some suggestions.

What I would do with those boxes:

- Grab the TL Haywire and TL Heatlance from Talos box. Cut the barrels and magnetize, so you can reattach it to the Talos, and cut the Scourges shardcarbine so you can attach the Haywire, or Heatlance or Blaster barrels.
This is so you have 4 Haywire Scourges.

- Build the 5 incubi, with the Klaivex keeping his Klaive, and not demiklaives.

- If you have the funds, grab the new Wych Cult Shardstorm box . It contains 10 wyches you most likely won't use, but the other things come cheaper.

- Succubus needs some surgery, because she needs a splinter pistol instead of the agonizer on the model. But after that she goes with 3 incubi + klaivex in a Venom, TEQ and MEQ hunting.

- The Raider gets nightshield and splinter racks - and put the 2 Splinter cannon trueborns in it. No need for the archon.

- I use my troops as 5 warrior with 1 blaster in a venom with 2 splinter cannons, for 120 points. Times two.

- Magnetize the barrel on 2 Reavers, so you can give them the Heatlances if you want some more anti-tank. Equip two other with caltrops. And you have an amazingly fast objective taking unit, with 2 d6 S6 rending hammer of wrath attacks.

- Also, magnetize the Ravagers, so you can change them to Disintegrator. 9 S5 Ap2 shots will make any Space Marine player cry. The Scourges are better antitank.

- Lastly, depending on your local meta: Buy 1 or 2 Razorwings for anti-air. If there are no fliers, buy one for the 4 monoscythe missiles and anti-horde.

1) I forgot that I also have an Haemonculus. This may change a little bit my first army. What do you think Drager?

2) I don't need to magnetize everything, as what is important for us over here is to have the right model, but not necessary with the right weapons on it.

3) I am not sure what strat I will like the most with DE. But I like speed and mobility, so yeah, Razorwing and/or Reavers may be good options.

4) I read a lot about packs of Grots or Talos. This is very seducing

5) On other topics I saw that DE flyers may have 3+ jink. But how?

Razorwings and lots of them at least two. Cheap and mean you can fire four large blast str6 ap5 shots the turn it comes out.

Your best bet is to use a Webway portal and put them with the Wracks with as many Liquifiers to DS Templates.

Grotesques do this better though

with night shield the DE vehicules get their 4+ jink save increased to 3+

So on my shopping list I have:
- 1 more box of Scourges
- 1 Razorwing
- 2 boxes of Reavers
- Grots when available (3 of them)
- Maybe a Succubus instead of the Archon?

For Grots, might be worthwhile buying Rat Ogres and converting some Talos/Cronos bitz on them. Might be a bit cheaper for you.

+1 for converting rat ogres...I bought 8 of them on Ebay for less than $40.00 and with leftover bits from just 2 talos kits I made them all look very "grotesque." I honestly prefer them to the actual model!

Could you please show me how your conversion looks like?
