The Bolt Action mini-rulebook is QUITE interesting! Not like the normal Bolt Action rulebook is a behemoth, but it will be nice to have a smaller one without the army lists and WW2 timelines.

I'd also like to mention to anyone reading this that, this month, Warlord is doing free US shipping no matter how small the order is, and is including a freebie with every order. I just bought a few things and received my order yesterday and it had a Gates of Antares figure included for free!

Here's hoping that we'll get something like that as well somewhere down the line, especially with Christmas looming ever closer all of the sudden!

Though the Armoured Fury starter does automatically qualify for free shipping, regardless of where you reside.

Those are some really nice looking tanks. $120 for 5 tanks isn't too shabby either!

Don't forget the two rulebooks, dice and tokens.

But yeah, the Panthers are £20 each, the Shermans £18 a model, so great savings all round.

I didn't know about those Universal carrier sets. I'll have to grab a section or two and split them across my Allied forces.

I was about to say that there is no way those Sherman's in the picture would have gotten so close to the Panthers - they would have been destroyed long before they got half way.

Then I realised they were Panther Ausf A's and so they probably would have broke down before they even got to the battlefield

But I agree with the above. Great set, value for money, thank you Warlord games. I'm tempted, very tempted.

Only thing staying my hand from getting it straight away is the design quality of these kits. I'm not exactly blown away by Italeri's quality and with Rubicon's initial release right around the corner..

Has anyone built a Warlord Sherman or Panther and could you comment on their overall quality?

I haven't built the panther but I just finished a sherman. The quality is nice, thin plastic easy to put together. The quality is what you would expect from a detailed model hobbyist company and for the price it's well worth it. Don't be shocked however if you play warhammer 40k and are use to very large tanks. These tanks are considerably smaller even though they arw 1/56.

Scale isn't an issue, the quality of the tooling is. Italeri isn't exactly what I'd call a name known for good kits.

Just curious....how do the Bolt Action vehicles scale next to 40K vehicles?

If you like every single part of a kit - including the bits that are 99% of the time hidden from view - to be realistic there is one trait of the Sherman that may annoy you. If you turn the model upside down and examine the tracks, you can see that the inner parts of the bogies, on either side of the hull bottom, with are just flat plastic with no detail. However, these will, of course, be unseen by anyone who doesn't pick up the model up and poke into every corner. It's the one part of the kit I don't like but at least it's usually hidden from view.

As for the parts you'll actually see during a game, i.e. everything else, I can't really fault the model. Details are nice and sharp and it paints up very well.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Darn. Most 1/35 scale vehicles look too big next to 28mm figs.

Not the lighter tanks. Go for the Stuart or Lee/Grants. I'm not too sure about the European tankettes, but those might work too.

Dangit, this is not what I needed to see. Sarge discount + Free Shipping could lead to some *really* stupid purchases if I'm not careful.

I should say I don't really want to *pay* for the tanks I'm happy to have them, I'd just rather pay 20 pounds and get the books/dice/reference sheets/etc without the models. I'm happy to have the models if they were free

I highly recommend 1/48 vehicles for use in BA. They are Goldilocks with their infantry models.
