Are the king tiger and jadtiger any good or are they point sinks that get ripped apart by a volley of fire?
Are models easy to assemble?
Are there any plans to add fighters like hawker huriccanes, messerschmidt bf 109's and focker-wulf 190's?
Will they produce rules for maus?
Where can I buy miniatures from in ireland?(I know a place in dublin called gamers world has them but i'v never been there personally)
Is the ordnance qf 18pdr gun in this game or just great war?
What tank is most versatile(can be used in all theatres at mid, late and early war)for germany?I assume the pzIV but I want to check.
How strict are fow players about camouflage on german tanks?(I like the grey and brown of case white but nobody I know wants to play as poland)
and does the game end up more or less expensive then 40k
Finally:Is it fun?

Having had my Shermans blown to pieces regularly by those tanks (the Tiger especially) they certainly aren't something that can be ignored, and they also have something of a psychological impact. They are perhaps a 'win or bin' in mid war (they're so expensive that you're going to have deficit elsewhere), but hey the models look great, and the 'Tiger Aces' extra skill that the Tiger gets looks like a lot of fun.

Are models easy to assemble?

If you've made that miniature in your profile you'll have no trouble. They are perhaps quite fiddly (being a smaller scale), if you take the route of plastic tanks (from PSC and now Battlefront themselves) there are some smaller bits that are necessarily more delicate. But, I think even a moderately experienced modeller will find these easy to make.

Are there any planes to add fighters like hawker huriccanes, messerschmidt bf 109's and focker-wulf 109's?

There are lots of different planes used in different lists. For the most part the miniature is a 'marker' that the plane is doing something, it's fairly common for you to sub-in one plane type for another. If they're a comparable 'class' of plane, it doesn't matter that much.

I think all of those aircraft you mention are used though.

Will they produce rules for maus?

I'm not aware of anything official, although there are some fan-made rules out there.

Is the ordnance qf 18pdr gun in this game or just great war?

You can certainly get some pretty big guns (some of the Soviet God of War stuff for instance, 120mm guns which were even bigger), although I find the concept of anything bigger than a mortar pretty silly in wargames at this scale - I don't tend to use them that much, someone else might be better placed to answer that one!

What tank is most versatile(can be used in all theatres at mid, late and early war)for germany?I assume the pzIV but I want to check.

Yes the PzIV is used in all eras. But, I would probably separate early war from mid and later in terms of what vehicles are used. Specifically, a lot of the early war AFVs aren't used in mid and late (technological development moved at a tremendous pace in the first few years). Depending on who you are going to playing and what they use, what you want to play, yes the PzIV is a pretty good choice - pretty cheap to get as well if you opt for plastic.

How strict are fow players about camouflage on german tanks?(I like the grey and brown of case white but nobody I know wants to play as poland)
and does the game end up more or less expensive then 40k:-)

No-one I have played against in FoW (or other historical games for that matter) in all of the years I have been gaming has ever had issue with some of the schemes I have used (which aren't always that accurate). Although, of course someone very knowledgeable might appreciate if you have put in some extra effort to get the right scheme.

The game is significantly cheaper than 40k both at buy-in price and 'price-per-army' at the points level the game is designed to be played at. I've just been making a late war 1600pt German army that has miniatures from about 3-4 different manufacturers for less than £100, and I probably could have made it cheaper if I hadn't wanted metal tanks and some bespoke infantry.

Finally:Is it fun?

Most definitely! I know some people question the historical accuracy of the game, but it flows very well, is fast paced enough and tactical enough that you can thoroughly enjoy the game. Battlefront has done very well out of Flames a War, in some senses it has muscled in on what was already a crowded market, and that is at least in part because ultimately the game is a lot of fun!

Hope that helps

Mos Eisley Spaceport... I shot first.

Early is 1939-1942 September

Mid is September 1942 to june-august 1944

Late is the summer of '44 til April 1945

As far as planes go they are more just stand ins but you can find substitutes of the particular plane you would like.
Historically speaking the Luftwaffe didn't exist after D-day as the allies controlled the air for the remainder of the war.

Sorry, but your dates are wrong. Early War is 1939-1941. Mid War is 1942-1943. Late War is 1944-1945.

All the planes in the game are ground attack and/or bomber aircraft. Flames of War does not feature air-to-air combat

The FW190 was used for ground attack, as was the Hurricane (called the Hurribomber) and ME109s could bomb up for tactical air support.

The Hawker Hurricane II and the Focke-Wulf 190 F8 are already in the game. He mentioned the Focke-Wulf 109 which threw me off along with the fact that it is in the game already. The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is a fighter aircraft and beyond the scope of the game.

no fighters?awwwww no dogfights....btw I did mean fw190.
Any yeah I think ghaz is right about the dates. For me the most logical is:early:1939-june 1941(barbarossa)
Mid:June 1941-1944
You can figure out the rest yourself.

There's an option for the Bf 109E in North Africa. It's armed with cannon and bombs.

There are pure air fighters in the game, but you don't need models for them as all they do is drive off enemy ground attack aircraft.

The King Tiger is interesting, dies to artillery and aircraft just as much as anything else thats TA:2 however if you can avoid that its a beast - issue tends to be you have one platoon of them normally, possibly just one tank, and it cannot be in two places at once. Your opponent will generally make it so the thing cannot cover both objectives then goes for the other one. They are not easy to use but they can be great fun. Model is somewhat imposing as well, worth having one to use occasionally.

Not sure on jagdtiger as never ran one, guessing its overkill in most circumstances though.

the mouse is bound to turn up eventually, and will be either broken to hell or too many points in one place to be anything other than a gimmick, will still buy the model though *innocent*

QF18pdr is great war and IIRC early war only, replaced by the 18/25 and the 25pdr. Not built my GW guns so not sure how different they are.

PzIV is in all periods, but they models are not the same as the guns are very different, fragile generally but once you have the knack of using them they have a decent gun.

Cheaper than GW games by a mile, especially if you don't limit yourself to battlefront models.

Fun? I think so, specially if you can get multi-player games going using the "total war" rules

If the Maus does show up, it will be in the 'Late War Leviathans' book of experimental vehicles which saw very limited or no combat use at all and will very much be an "opponent's permission" platoon.

I don't know that LW Leviathans is officially confirmed, but I think many agree that it is a very likely possibility. There is no EW version as of yet, as far as I know. MW Monsters isn't particularly balanced, but that isn't really the intent. It's not supposed to be balanced which is why you need your opponents permission to use them. And Panzer IIIs are in LW, but only certain versions.

And feel free to ask as many questions as you like!
