Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also a few quick questions about the list:
Should I bump up the stormvermin to 42 so that they can have 6 full ranks? I will be running them 7 wide.

How wide should I bring the Furnace unit? Total of 10 wide?

Was thinking of dropping the LVL 1 engineer and taking a second cannon. I do want that dispell scroll in there somewhere tho

No comments? I'll take that to mean the list is top notch haha

Drop the lvl1 Engineer and the Pendant off the Priest. Give the Priest the Scroll.
I don't think you need more Stormvermin. There'll be times you want to run them 5- or 10-wide.

Try running the Furnace narrow and deep at first, so it doesn't get caught on terrain or block other units too bad. I've run them 7-wide with the Furnace, for a total of 10, or a total of 12 or 14, if I'm facing off against enemy Hordes.
Once or twice, though, I've gone 18 wide or some other crazy thing, trying to catch more than one unit in the charge at once.

Ya I've switched up the list a bit and have dropped the lvl 1. Why drop the pendant on the priest tho? Just to make room for the scroll?

I'll be running the monks 7 wide plus the furnace for 10 wide total. That will allow them an extra rank of attacks.

Here's what I was thinking for a different list. I am playing ogres most likely so won't be bringing the 13th so that's why I don't have a power scroll on the seer which I normally bring.

Giant rats 23
Giant rats 23

Lords
Grey seer
- dispel scroll, ruby ring of ruin, talisman of endurance 320

Heroes
Chieftain
- bsb, halberd, talisman of preservation 117
Plague priest
- flail, foul pendant, lvl 2 and furnace 319
Engineer
- doomrocket 45

Core
28 clanrats
- shields, standard, musician 126
40 slaves
- musician 82
40 slaves
- musician 82
40 stormvermin
- musician, standard (stormbanner) 345

Special
8 gutter runners
- poisoned attacks, slings 144
40 plague monks
- musician, standard 295

Rare
Hellpit abomination 235
Doomwheel 150
Warp lightning cannon 90
Warp lightning cannon 90

Just switched up a few things. Hoping to get bless with filth with the plague priest. And probably going to mix up plague and ruin on the seer not sure yet.

Yes, I was suggesting that the Priest is better off with the Scroll than the Pendant, if you have to choose.
I've found he either dies despite my best efforts or survives in spite of my lack of efforts.
...though, when I do give him items, I am found of the Talisman of Preservation + Ironcurse Icon, or the Foul Pendant (or the Shadow Magnet Trinket) + Portents of Verminuous Doom.

Not sure how the lists are all that different, though.
One thing I think both need is more chaff. Two more Rat Darts, at least.
The Plague Banner is also just waaay too good to pass up (16.1 wounds over 8.5 in that first round means your 30pt banner just took down 76pts of Ogres).
The Stormbanner, though, seems like something you could leave behind against Ogres. In most cases, your shooting will be more of a threat to him than vise versa, and he doesn't have any flyers.

Also, since the Grey Seer only needs to declare which Lore he is using before rolling the die, I see no reason to decided ahead of time.

I did drop the storm banner and played the plague banner instead.

He ended up bringing a chaos warriors list which I was surprised about but my furnace and monks wrecked face. They charged pretty well right away and slammed into 3 skullcrushers and I got off the bless with filth on the monks. They destroyed that, overran into another unit of skullcrushers (he has 1 left and it fled) I was unable to overrun him but I stumbled into a spawn killed that and the skull crushed fled off table.

Stormvermin never do anything for me. Squared up against warriors and as usual got demolished. Honestly I love the stormvermin models but they lack so much punch. Ws4 and halberds is good for 7 pts a model but never truly delivers.

Hpa was pretty decent and my cannons did their job. I rolled for plague for the seer so got every spell pretty much. Had to many dice (I rolled well)

I lost tho by the slightest margin (200 points or so) only cause he got my bsb and general.

I like this list a lot tho worked well. Unsure about the ruby ring of ruin tho it worked okay but didn't make its points back

Stormvermin cannot stand against Warriors. Not even remotely. You need a flank charge and some kind of augment or hex-type thing to stand a chance.
Stormvermin do okay against other things, though. They actually fair better in more match-ups than Plague Monks. Minus the Banner.

Oh I knew they didn't stand a chance but at that point in the game they had done nothing because of the way he deployed I had to skirt around with the stormvermin and by that time it was turn 5 and I just let his warriors charged me and there wasn't much on the table and terrain wouldn't have allowed me to flee (which I should have because he wrecked the unit in turn 6 including my general not sure why I put a seer in the stormvermin tho other than the plan was to pop him out before combat and move him to another unit)

I'm still not sold on them tho but I will keep trying them and keep using them. Might go with 2 units of 30 at 5 wide try that out.
Monks with the banner and furnace is much better more fun for me but then again furnace adds some killing power.
If I can get bless with filth off on the stormvermin that always helps too the poisoned attacks are good at ws4.

I should also mention that first round of combat I popped the plague banner and I got bless with filth off on that unit of monks so poisoned attacks refillable hit and wound was awesome with the furnace too

I do hope your opponent was baiting you by saying he was playing Ogres, then switching to WoC. Building to suit? With Skaven? Tsk

I really like stormies, more than any other core in the book - especially clanrats, screw those chumps! But after many many games of playing 'Combat Skaven' with just stormvermin for troops ... it's glaringly obvious how badly they need a decent augment / hex to make them work. I run all Ruin magic, so that means Death Frenzy for me (Wither is superb too, if Plague and ultra short ranged), though what I wouldn't give for Wildform, and barring that, Enchanted Blades. Armor is just a nightmare for Skaven infantry. I started taking Razor Standard on my big stormy bus towards the end of my Skaven term, but even that wasn't really enough in a world of 1+ armor

My last build was 1x 45 + 2x 30 stormies ... backed up with 3x mortars! While Skaven may suffer against armor in combat, they sure can melt it at range
