I was assembling my figures and I was wondering if it was even possible to screw up on these guys. Aside from mould lines, they have specially shaped slots for each piece. It seems like if the piece fits in, then it's in without the potential for messing up (even if it seems mis-aligned there is no other way for it to fit so...) with the no mess up model style, is it possible to convert unique poses?

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).

Well yea, just cut off the pin that normally fits in the slot and greenstuff away.
It does take a tad bit more sculpting than models that where designed to be poseable, but nothing should go too bad to cover up during painting.

If you want to go even crazier you can get a razor saw and cut solid pieces apart, and then put them back together the way you want them.

conversions are possible.

conversion policy is strict, but fair, and only applies for PP run steamrollers. even then, its not hard to work with. and ultimately the TO can OK things (and probably will, so long as its not silly - "this coke can is a juggernaut". like for like weapon swaps, using 50% of the original model, use PP bits... Nothing extraordinary really.

Is it possible to screw up a model though?

As with all elements to this hobby, screw ups and conversions really depend on confidence and skill level.

Well yes, you can screw up any multipart miniature, by putting the left arm on the right shoulder etc.

Maybe give a more specific example?

I was assembling Kreoss (from starter set) and putting in his back piece and mace head seemed impossible to mess up, even if they seemed misalligned

Some models have parts with "plugs" that will fit only into their designated sockets, like you said. Those are hard to mess up. Do they seem misaligned to you?

Well the back of it has a circular piece that isn't perfectly between his shoulder blades (it's a tiny bit to one side) but it seems like that would be right because there was slots so it could only fit one way

Sometimes the plugs on PP's models don't fit quite right and require you to shave them down.

It wasn't like that... It fit perfectly, just looks misaligned...

Thats also possible.

PP's plastic is notorious for getting bent out of shape. The way to fix it is to hold it under very hot water and bend it back, then dunk it into very cold water to set it.

Well I'm glad I learned how to fix it, but I think I did the Kreoss right, I looked up a picture and it looks like its meant to be slightly off... I guess only someone who has assembled a starter set Kreoss can tell for sure though...

Also, the poses can be dynamic so the backpack may not be perfectly centered if he is swinging his weapon or something. I don't remember the exact model so can't say for sure.

But the one thing to remember is that if you want to improve or customize your look it is certainly possible. It does take a lot of work and practice, though, so don't expect to immediately be doing top end conversions and greenstuff.

The plastic Kreoss isn't in a dynamic pose. He's really just standing there. The metal one is actively swinging his flail.
